Arsenal star Mikel Arteta sold for £9m linked with shock Premier League return
A former Arsenal star Mikel Arteta sold for just £9million, could make a surprise transfer back to the Premier League, according to reports. While no new signings have been confirmed yet, Arsenal have been busy this summer transfer window, especially with regards to their midfield. They are set to buy Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad and Christian Norgaard from Brentford, who will replace the released Thomas Partey and Jorginho. Another Premier League side overhauling their midfield is newly-promoted Sunderland who have the difficult task of replacing Jobe Bellingham, who was sold to Borussia Dortmund. To do so, it has been widely-reported that the Black Cats will pay a club-record £30.5m to sign Habib Diarra from Strasbourg. The highly-rated 21-year-old was also a target for Leeds, Brighton and Everton, and notably scored for Senegal in their historic win over England earlier this month. But French outlet RMC Sport claim that Sunderland are also interested in signing Lazio midfielder Matteo Guendouzi who spent two years at the Emirates. Guendouzi knows Black Cats boss Regis Le Bris well having worked with him at Lorient but it remains to be seen whether the France international would consider a transfer. The 26-year-old only moved to Lazio on a permanent deal last summer and is considered a key player, but the Serie A club may be forced to sell due its financial situation. Signed by Unai Emery in 2018 for £7m, Guendouzi quickly established himself in Arsenal's first-team despite his tender years, going onto make 82 appearances for the club in two seasons. Appearances: 82 Goals: 1 Assists: 5 Yellow cards: 20 Red Cards: 1 It was expected that he would become a key player for the Gunners for many years to come but he fell out with Arteta after multiple disciplinary issues on the training ground. More Trending The final straw came in June 2020 following a post-match altercation with Brighton's Neal Maupay, during which he grabbed the striker's throat, with Arteta exiling Guendouzi from training. Guendouzi would never again play for Arsenal, loaned out to Hertha Berlin and Marseille before leaving for good in 2022, and upon departing north London said: 'I will never forget any minute spent with the Gunners jersey. 'I will never forget the Emirates Stadium. I will never forget the fans. I won't forget the city. I will never forget everything I've been through here. I will never forget that my only will was to defend with pride Arsenal colours. 'Thanks to all of those who believed in me during my time here, during the good and the bad moments. I can only wish the best to the club and its fan who deserve so much, trust me! 'Goodbye Arsenal, I will never forget you and will be a Gooner forever.' Marvel Rivals: Wolverine's New Skin has Sparked a Debate on the Game Being Sexist
Ever since Marvel Rivals came out, the game has been branded as 'gooner bait' for the sexualization of several characters; but on the flip side, some fans argue that both men and women are equally sexualized in the game, so it's all fair. However, the recent release of Wolverine's Weapon X skin seems to have proven that men get more of a pass when it comes to being objectified. First, let's check out the reveal: 🆕 Wolverine: Weapon X Coming to the #MarvelRivals in-game store on Thursday at 10 PM EDT. — Miller Ross (@mmmmmmmmiller) June 2, 2025 Immediately, a lot of fans are outraged that the skin would have Wolverine wearing long shorts. Anyone who knows their X-Men history knows that this look often has Wolverine in trunks or completely naked. Even the Fox movies knew they had to show as much skin as they could: Admittedly, they did give Weapon X shorts in X-Men: Apocalypse , but everyone agrees that was a bad movie. Already the reveal of the Weapon X skin is getting spammed with complaints about Logan wearing pants and not being fully naked. I mean, I get why they can't make him naked, but they could have at least settled with trunks. Invisible Woman and Emma Frost have skins that are as revealing as they can get. Meanwhile this is the Weapon X in other media… Rivals truly isn't beating the misogynist/Gooner allegations with this one… — Kendra Targaryen (@UncannyKendra) June 2, 2025 Seeing how conservative NetEase is (when it comes to men), it's possible that they wouldn't be 'fixing' this anytime soon. Either way, it does seem like some fans are pleased with the look, and that's all you really need. Marvel Rivals is now available for PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. The Weapon X skin comes to the store on June 6.

Rafael Nadal took Andy Murray's text for kindness, until he read between the lines
Image composite: File (AP) Even amid emotional goodbyes and standing ovations, Rafael Nadal couldn't resist sharing a laugh, at his own expense, thanks to Andy Murray 's perfectly timed banter. During a press conference at Roland-Garros following his farewell ceremony, Nadal opened up about a humorous message he received from Murray after his beloved Real Madrid suffered a painful Champions League exit at the hands of Arsenal last month. "The day that Arsenal beat Real Madrid, when the match just finished, after one second, [Andy] text me a message,' Nadal said with a grin. 'He said, 'Hey Rafa, haven't spoken to you in a while. Just checking in to make sure you are okay.'' At first, Nadal thought the gesture was heartfelt. 'Honestly, [it] takes me like five seconds to realise what I was reading,' he said. 'At the beginning, I said, 'Okay, he's such a nice guy. He's asking about how I'm doing, family.'' But then it clicked. 'After five seconds, I said, 'This British sense of humour.'' He added with a smirk: 'By the way, I didn't text him back when PSG beat Arsenal.' A rivalry beyond the court Nadal, a lifelong Madridista who's even been tipped for a future leadership role at the club, was stung by Real Madrid's 5-1 aggregate loss to Arsenal in the Champions League quarter-finals, a shock result made worse by the fact that Murray, now retired and a proud Gooner, was clearly paying attention. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like American Investor Warren Buffett Recommends: 5 Books For Turning Your Life Around Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo Arsenal's 3-0 first-leg win at the Emirates featured two goals from Declan Rice and one from Mikel Merino. They followed that up with a 2-1 win at the Bernabéu, thanks to second-half goals by Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli. Though Arsenal would later fall to PSG in the semifinals, Murray made sure to enjoy the moment, even if Nadal didn't quite return the favour when PSG sent the Gunners packing. We pushed each other to the limits… That kind of rivalry raised the numbers in tennis to the next level.' From rivals to friends Despite years of fierce battles on court, the camaraderie between Nadal and Murray is now more visible than ever. 'You don't know yet, Novak. Probably you know already, Andy. With Roger, we have talked about it a couple times,' Nadal said, referencing life after retirement. 'All the nerves, pressure, strange feelings when we see each other as rivals, it's completely different when you finish your career.' Even as he closes one chapter, Nadal clearly hasn't lost his spark, or his sense of humour, even when it comes at the cost of a footballing heartbreak. The 7 best Arsenal pubs in London to watch the Champions League semi-final tonight
London might be enjoying a late April heatwave this week, but Spurs fans might be better off staying indoors this evening, because north London's Gooner population will be out in force. Having trounced current holders Real Madrid 5-1 on aggregate in the quarters earlier this month, Arsenal's men's team will be playing in their first Champions League semi-final since 2009 on Tuesday (April 29) evening, when they take on Paris Saint-Germain at the Emirates Stadium in the first of two legs. The crucial fixture arrives just days after the women's team overcame Lyon to secure their first European final in 18 years, only increasing the anticipation for the historic club's biggest game in a generation. Tickets to the 60,000-capacity Emirates are predictably hard to come by, so most fans will be heading to the boozers and beer gardens of north London to watch Rice, Saka and Ødegaard go toe to toe with Dembélé, Marquinhos and Donnarumma. Looking for a lively atmosphere in which to catch all the action? Look no further than our roundup of London's best Gooner pubs. The Drayton Park A bar stool at the Drayton is basically as close as you can get to pitchside without a ticket. You can see the stadium from the window, and you'll certainly hear the roar from inside if the home team score. This place has a pretty strict home crowd only policy, and predictably gets insanely busy before kick-off, before quieting down as the lucky ticket-holders head inside. 66 Drayton Park, N5 1ND The Tollington Arms Another lively spot within shouting distance of the stadium itself, the Tolly also attracts a huge pre-match crowd that spills out into the fenced off porches outside the entrance, where the pre-match atmosphere is sometimes bolstered by a live band. Make sure you check out its impressive collection of stickers from Arsenal fan clubs around the world. 115 Hornsey Road, N7 6DN The Gunners Pub You'd struggle to find a pub that wears its allegiances more proudly than this Blackstock Road institution, which is decked out in all manner of Arsenal memorabilia. It also sports a covered beer garden, and stages live music before and after matches. 204 Blackstock Road, N5 1EN The Army & Navy This 1930s-built boozer was crowned our favourite pub in London last year. Being in the overlapping area between hipster territory and the Gooner heartlands, it's always rammed and rowdy on match days. Wear a JVC-era 90s kit if you want to fit in with the Héctor Bellerín wannabes that frequent its massive beer garden. 1-3 Matthias Road, N16 8NN The Brook Gate Formerly known as the Arsenal Tavern, this pub underwent extensive refurbishment when it was taken over by new owners in 2023, but its allegiances haven't changed even if the name has. One of the roomier pubs near the stadium, it boasts two pool tables, some great matchday drinks offers and more screens than you can count. 175 Blackstock Road, N4 2JS The Bank of Friendship A Yard Sale delivery partnership and a healthy smattering of fans rocking the Arsenal x Aries collection are just some of the 'cool pub' signifiers on display at in this Blackstock Road boozer, which sports a deceptively large beer garden out back. It's also a good option for the discerning drinker; you'll find a solid roster of craft beers and even a mezcal negroni on tap. 226 Blackstock Road, N5 1EA With a massive beer garden overlooking Stoke Newington's leafy park, and plenty of outdoor screens, Clissold Park Tavern is a great place to catch the action on sunny days. And it's also a good option if you're keen to line your stomach, serving up decent pizzas, sharing platters and classic pub snacks.
