Chappell Roan teases possible release for anticipated single ‘The Subway'

Chappell Roan may finally be ready to release her long-anticipated single 'The Subway' next week. Fans have spotted promotional posters across New York City hinting at an August 1 drop date. The ads, which feature Roan with bangs, a small rat in her hair, and a bread clip reading 'Best Before August 1,' have led many to believe that the studio version of the ballad will arrive next Friday. The cryptic messaging includes the tagline, 'Going through a break up? Get Bangs!' — further fueling speculation. Chappell Roan's new single 'The Subway' will seemingly be released on August 1st, as hinted at on a new poster. — Pop Base (@PopBase) July 23, 2025 Roan first debuted 'The Subway' live in the summer of 2024 during her Governors Ball performance. Since then, the emotional ballad about unexpectedly seeing an ex on the train has become a staple in her festival sets, including appearances at Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits, and most recently, Primavera Sound in June. Despite its popularity on stage, a studio version has yet to surface. In an April interview on the Las Culturistas podcast, Roan admitted the recording process for 'The Subway' had been challenging. 'Some songs just work live... and they don't work in the studio,' she said, adding that the final version will 'feel different, and different doesn't always mean worse.' She also described struggling with 'demo-itis' — the tendency to become attached to early demo recordings, even when the finished product is technically stronger. Following similar delays with her previous single 'The Giver,' which premiered on Saturday Night Live before its official release months later, fans are hopeful that 'The Subway' will finally arrive on August 1. Roan has not officially confirmed the date, but signs point to new music coming soon.

Tyler, the Creator is doing a secret show in Brooklyn tonight—here's how to score tickets

Some of the season's outdoor concerts, we've had marked on our calendar for months: Annual favorites like SummerStage, Governors Ball and Global Citizen Festival. Others, however, are deliciously last-minute affairs, a burst of sunny summertime spontaneity. Case in point: tonight's impromptu concert hosted by none other than Tyler, the Creator. In support of the rap star's brand-new studio album Don't Tap the Glass— which dropped on Monday, July 21—the "Big Poe" performer is popping up for a surprise outdoor gig today, July 23, set beneath Brooklyn's Under the K Bridge Park at 8pm. That's especially good news for fans who might have missed the rapper's four sold-out shows from his Chromakopia Tour here in New York last week: July 14 and 15 at Madison Square Garden and July 17 and 18 at Barclays Center. (He will next take the stage at Newark's Prudential Center on July 27 and 28.) View this post on Instagram A post shared by Tyler, The Creator (@feliciathegoat) So, how do you snag tickets for what's sure to be a truly epic live show from one of rap's biggest names? Tickets are available as of noon today and are set at only ten bucks, which means they're going to go fast. Run (or, you know, just type really fast) to the album's website to secure yours and make everyone who follows you on social media very jealous. We'll (hopefully) see you there!

Sabrina Carpenter Earns Her First No. 1 On An Albums Chart

Sabrina Carpenter earns her first No. 1 on the Official Vinyl Albums chart with Short n' Sweet, ... More nearly a year after its release. NEW YORK, NEW YORK - JUNE 08: Sabrina Carpenter performs during the 2024 Governors Ball Music Festival at Flushing Meadows Corona Park on June 08, 2024 in New York City. (Photo by) A little more than a month from now, Short n' Sweet will celebrate its one-year anniversary. The project, Sabrina Carpenter's sixth full-length, was the one that finally catapulted her to global superstardom. It produced many of her most recognizable hits and became one of the most commercially successful albums of the past year all around the world. As Carpenter prepares her follow-up album Man's Best Friend, Short n' Sweet is still performing exceptionally well, including in the United Kingdom, where it can often be found inside the top 10 on multiple tallies. This week, the project surges on several rankings, reappearing on multiple lists, and even conquering one. Short n' Sweet Returns at No. 1 Short n' Sweet returns to the Official Vinyl Albums chart after missing from the ranking of the bestselling vinyl titles in the country just days ago. Carpenter doesn't just return to the roster — she dominates it. The set hits No. 1 on the Official Vinyl Albums ranking for the first time, 41 weeks into its tenure. Sabrina Carpenter Scores Her First No. 1 Carpenter earns her first No. 1 on the Official Vinyl Albums chart as Short n' Sweet rebounds. The singer-songwriter has now sent three titles to the format-specific ranking, and before this week, she had peaked in the runner-up position twice. Short n' Sweet was joined by her holiday project Fruitcake, which reached No. 2 for a single frame last December. Her previous full-length, Emails I Can't Send, only climbed as high as No. 19. Short n' Sweet Launched in the Runner-Up Spot When Short n' Sweet first dropped in the fall of 2024, it debuted at No. 2 on the Official Vinyl Albums ranking. The hits-packed effort returned to that lofty position several times throughout its run but never managed to rule — until now. Of the 41 frames it has appeared on the vinyl list, the album has lived inside the top 10 for 18 of them. Short n' Sweet Reappears on Multiple Charts The album also returns to two other U.K.-based rankings this week. In addition to scoring space on the Official Vinyl Albums chart again, Short n' Sweet is back on the Official Album Downloads ranking, landing at No. 57 after previously peaking at No. 3. Short n' Sweet also returns to the runner-up position on both the Official Albums Sales and Official Physical Albums charts. Carpenter's effort holds inside the top five on the main list of the most-consumed releases in the country (No. 3), as well as on the Official Albums Streaming tally (No. 4).

A massive new EDM festival is hitting Randall's Island this fall

New York City's dance floors are about to get a serious upgrade: This September, EDM heavyweight John Summit is launching Experts Only Festival NYC, a brand-new, two-day electronic music blowout set to take over Randall's Island on Saturday, September 20 and Sunday, September 21. Poised to become the largest dance music festival in NYC history, the event is gearing up to draw more than 50,000 fans for a stacked lineup and high-voltage party vibes. Summit, fresh off selling out Madison Square Garden in under two hours (casual), will headline twice over the weekend. But he's not coming alone. The lineup is a who's-who of house and techno royalty: think Kaskade B2B Cassian, Green Velvet B2B Layton Giordani, LP Giobbi, AYYBO, Pete Tong, DJ Seinfeld and many more, with more names still to be announced. The festival—produced by John Summit's Experts Only label in partnership with Medium Rare, Relentless Beats and EMW—will span two stages and feature more than 15 acts, bringing top-tier sound design, next-level visuals and a Gen Z-approved energy to the green expanse of Randall's Island. (Yes, the same stomping grounds that once hosted Electric Zoo and Governors Ball.) This isn't just another rave-in-the-park, though. The team is also pulling out all the stops with immersive stage builds, interactive brand activations and a curated LIV Skydeck VIP experience straight from the Fontainebleau clubs in Miami and Vegas—complete with bottle service and skyline views. Tickets start at $119.99 (no fees!), with VIP and Platinum options topping out at $799.99. Pre-registration is open now, with pre-sale kicking off Friday, July 11, at 10 a.m. EST. A portion of ticket sales will benefit FEMME HOUSE, a nonprofit championing inclusivity in dance music, co-founded by LP Giobbi.

Morgan Wallen's Blocks One Of Today's Top Pop Stars From His First No. 1

Morgan Wallen's I'm the Problem stays No. 1 on the Billboard 200 for six weeks, keeping Benson ... More Boone's American Heart from debuting atop the chart. (Photo by Nina Westervelt/Billboard via Getty Images) Morgan Wallen scored the largest debut on the Billboard 200 in 2025 when his album I'm the Problem arrived a little more than a month ago. The set launched at No. 1 with just under 500,000 equivalent units shifted, beating a 2025 record previously set by The Weeknd's Hurry Up Tomorrow. In the six weeks since, the country superstar's project has not vacated the top spot, and it will likely continue to dominate for several more frames, if not months. This week, Wallen leads the charge yet again, and as he holds on, he blocks one of today's hottest pop stars from earning a first leader. Benson Boone Debuts at No. 2 Benson Boone launches American Heart at No. 2 on the current edition of the Billboard 200. The pop singer-songwriter reaches a new career high point as his new collection arrives and only misses out on the top spot by one space, although the race wasn't a very close one. I'm the Problem shifted 177,000 units according to Luminate in the past tracking frame. That's almost three times as many as American Heart during the same span. Boone's sophomore full-length arrives with 61,000 equivalent album units moved. Fireworks & Rollerblades Rises on the Billboard 200 Boone became a hitmaker in the pop space last year with 'Beautiful Things,' his breakout track. That tune still ranks above both of his American Heart smashes on the Hot 100 at the moment, as it dips to No. 12 after 74 weeks on the competitive roster. 'Beautiful Things' fronted Fireworks & Rollerblades, his debut album, which peaked at No. 6 on the chart in 2024. As American Heart arrives, Fireworks & Rollerblades skates three spots north to No. 27 after 64 weeks on the Billboard 200. American Heart Gives Benson Boone His First No. 1 While American Heart might miss out on the peak position on the Billboard 200, it does earn Boone a champion on both the Top Album Sales and Vinyl Albums charts. The same project enters the Top Streaming Albums tally at No. 5. Benson Boone's Four Hot 100 Hits It's a big week for Boone in America, and not just on the albums rankings. Three tracks from American Heart — 'Sorry, I'm Here for Someone Else,' 'Mystical Magical,' and 'Mr. Electric Blue' — appear on multiple tallies, and all three live on the Hot 100, alongside 'Beautiful Things.' The latter is brand new, while the previous two, which were selected as singles from the full-length, rise to new heights on several rankings as excitement around Boone's new project reaches a fever pitch.
