Ex-Leader of Opposition gets death threat Former leader of the opposition and seven-time ex-Congress MLA Dr Govind Singh received a death threat over the phone on Friday. In the conversation, the caller said that the veteran politician would die soon and that his house too would be demolished. The 74-year-old veteran politician from Gwalior-Chambal region, reported the matter to the state's Director Generel of Police (DGP). Based on is complaint, the police have begun a probe into the matter. Initial finding revealed that the number from which the threatening call was allegedly made is registered in the name of some Shailendra Chauhan in Uttar Pradesh. 2 members of inter-state cattle smuggling gang arrested after encounter
Varanasi: The Phulpur police arrested two members of an inter-state gang of cattle smugglers in an encounter near Kaitholi on Monday. One of the smugglers sustained bullet injury in his leg during the exchange of fire. The police also seized an illegal firearm, cartridges, two mobile phones, a pickup van, and a motorcycle from their possession. According to reports, while the Phulpur police led by inspector-in-charge Praveen Kumar Singh were patrolling the area to ensure the safe conduct of Kanwar Yatra and Shrawan Mela, an informant reported movement of two motorcycle-borne suspicious individuals near Kaitholi turn, carrying illegal weapons. The police rushed to the scene. Seeing the police, the duo attempted to flee towards Jaunpur via the highway. The police chased and surrounded them near Nathipur intersection. One of them opened fire at the police in a bid to escape. When the cops retaliated, one of them identified as Ajay Gupta, a resident of Mainpur in Baburi police station of Chandauli district, sustained injury in the right leg. He was sent to PHC Pindra for treatment. His accomplice, Shivpujan Gupta of Chandauli district, was arrested at the scene. During interrogation, Ajay revealed that the motorcycle belonged to his friend further disclosed that one Govind Singh of Darauli Durgawati of Bhabua district in Bihar informed him over the phone about a pickup vehicle used for cow smuggling hidden in Kuwar Bazaar in Phulpur police station area. He was instructed to relocate the vehicle to Ramnagar Tengra turn using the given GPS location. Ajay, along with his accomplice Shivpujan, planned to retrieve the vehicle when the police surrounded them. Both of them are linked to an active cow smuggling gang. Recently, an inter-state gang led by Govind Singh was exposed during an encounter with cow smugglers in Badagaon police station area. Govind organises cow smuggling across districts like Varanasi, Azamgarh, Jaunpur, Ghazipur, and Chandauli. The two are also associated with this gang. Ajay has eight criminal cases registered against him at various police stations. A case has been registered against the two arrested under sections 109(1) BNS, 3/25/27 Arms Act, and 207 MV Act. Further legal proceedings are underway.

Pilot Killed In Uttarakhand Chopper Crash Served In Army For Over 15 Years
Jaipur: Rajveer Singh Chauhan, the pilot of the helicopter that crashed in Uttarakhand early Sunday killing all seven on board, had served in the Indian Army for over 15 years and had vast experience of flying missions over different terrains. Rajveer Singh Chauhan (37), a resident of Jaipur's Shastri Nagar, was working as a pilot with Aryan Aviation Private Ltd since October 2024. He was the captain of Bell 407 helicopter that crashed near Gaurikund in Uttarakhand on Sunday morning. Besides him, six people were killed in the accident. "I got information about the crash from his colleague," said Rajveer Singh Chauhan's father Govind Singh. Singh said that his daughter-in-law and Rajveer's wife is a Lieutenant Colonel in the Indian Army and they became parents four months ago. "His wife gave birth to twins four months ago," he said Govind Singh. Having worked in the Indian Army, Rajveer Singh Chauhan had a vast experience of flying missions over different terrains, overseeing aerial operations and had been trained in different types of helicopters and their maintenance, according to his LinkedIn profile. As soon as the news about his death broke, Rajveer Singh Chauhan's relatives and friends started reaching his residence in Shastri Nagar to console the family. Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, former chief minister Ashok Gehlot and other leaders expressed sorrow over the demise of seven people. "The news of the loss of life of a pilot from Rajasthan and other devotees due to a helicopter crash in Kedarnath is extremely sad. May Baba Kedar grant a place in his lotus feet to the departed souls and give strength to the bereaved families to bear this blow," Sharma said. Gehlot said the "death of seven people, including Jaipur resident pilot Rajveer Singh Chauhan, in the helicopter crash near Kedarnath is extremely sad". "My deepest condolences are with the bereaved families in this difficult time," he said in a social media post.
