Madhya Pradesh: Woman rescued after getting stuck between train and platform while trying to board moving train
BHOPAL: A female passenger had a close call with death at Ashok Nagar railway station on Thursday when she got trapped between a train and the platform while attempting to board the moving train after stepping off to get water. The rescue team had to dismantle a portion of the platform to rescue the woman. The incident occurred when Madhu Lakshakar, a 30-year-old from Aligarh (Rajasthan), got off the train no. 20472 Lalgarh-Puri Express to fetch water. 'A portion of platform cut by drill machine to rescue woman' As after a brief halt the train started moving, Madhu rushed to board it but she could not get hold of the foot-rest, and slipped into the gap between the moving train and platform. Passengers and railway staff raised an alarm and pulled the emergency chain to stop the train. The Govt Railway Police (GRP) Ashok Nagar, Railway Protection Force (RPF) and station staff quickly arrived to rescue the woman. GRP constable Ashok Nagar Abhishek Chauhan procured a hammer machine (drill machine) and with the help of other railway personnel cut through a portion of the platform. After a 30-minute operation, Madhu was rescued and rushed to the district hospital Ashok Nagar, for urgent medical attention where her condition is said to be stable. GRP constable Chauhan said the woman was precariously positioned near the train wheel with hardly any space to carry out the rescue work. Their initial platform-breaking attempts were unsuccessful as the woman began losing consciousness, so a portion had to be cut to take her out. TNN

Rs1.8cr unaccounted cash seized in Ballia
1 2 Varanasi: Govt Railway Police on Tuesday caught a person carrying unaccounted cash worth Rs 1.80 crore in two trolley bags at Ballia railay station. The cash was brought from Jhansi to be delivered in Bihar. Income Tax officials were investigating the case. Providing details of the action, CO GRP SR Gautam said that under the ongoing checking drive in view of the Shrawan month the GRP personnel were checking platforms and trains when they noticed a suspicious youth at a platform. As the police headed towards him, the youth tried to escape, but the GRP personnel foiled his bid and nabbed him after giving a chase. When his two trolley bags were opened, currency notes in denominations of Rs 500 were found in it. The CO added that the total value of the cash was found to be Rs 1.80 crore. The man carrying the cash boarded the train from Jhansi and was headed towards Chhapra in Bihar. As he failed to produce any document in support of the recovered cash, the GRP called the IT officials. The cash was handed over to the IT officials for further investigation, said the CO.

Con siphons 1.3 lakh from Armyman after stealing mobile at stn
Bhopal: A case of theft and fraud occurred at Bhopal Railway Station where an Armyman was duped of Rs1.3 lakh by a conman who allegedly tricked him , under the pretext of seeking help for train information, and fled with his mobile. He later used it to withdraw money through an ATM card and mobile banking app. According to Govt Railway Police (GRP) Bhopal, the victim, identified as Anil Kumar Verma, 32, a native of Uttar Pradesh, is currently posted in the Army in Bhopal. On Pretext Of 'Help' The incident took place on July 16 around 2:30 pm, at Platform No. 3 of Bhopal Railway Station, near the staircase. A man approached Verma asking about trains to Patna. In an attempt to help, Verma unlocked his phone to search for train schedules. The fraudster allegedly observed the passcode while he did so. The conman then claimed he needed cash urgently and offered to transfer money via an online payment wallet. He asked to make a call and borrowed Verma's phone. Pretending to make a call, he gradually moved away and then vanished with the phone. 'Rs 699 Remaining In Bank Account' When Verma's wife visited the bank to block the account, she found that only Rs 699 remained. Alarmed, Verma returned to Bhopal from Agra and visited the bank branch, where he learned that Rs 70,000 was withdrawn from an ATM on Chhola Road, and another Rs60,000 was transferred via the banking app, making a total loss of Rs 1.3 lakh in the case. GRP Bhopal have filed a case and police are reviewing CCTV footage, and tracking the mobile and bank transactions to identify the suspect.

Woman from Jharkhand dies on train near Rourkela station
Rourkela: An 18-year-old woman from Jharkhand passed away on a train near Rourkela railway station early on Tuesday. The deceased was identified as Joshna Bodra. Joshna, along with her husband Sanjit and several relatives, were working in Tiripur, Tamil Nadu, and were returning home to Telangjudi near Chakradharpur on the Tatanagar-Ernakulam Express. The group was travelling in the S-4 coach when Joshna complained of extreme weakness near Bargarh station on Monday. A doctor, facilitated by the railways, examined her at Bargarh and provided medication, but her condition worsened by the time the train reached Sambalpur. Unfortunately, no further treatment was administered at Sambalpur or subsequent stations, including Jharsuguda. Joshna ultimately passed away near Rourkela station. Upon the train's arrival at Chakradharpur, the station master was informed of her death. A doctor confirmed she died around 5am. Govt Railway Police (GRP) at Chakradharpur sent the body for a post-mortem before handing over to her family. Inspector in-charge Suhail Khan of GRP, Chakradharpur, stated, "We have registered an unnatural death case and are investigating the matter." A K Choudhury, senior divisional commercial manager of Chakradharpur, said, "Health of any passenger on the train is our top priority. Whenever a call is made regarding a passenger's illness, the train is stopped at the nearest station for treatment. The death of the 18-year-old is truly unfortunate. I will request for details pertaining to her death and look into the matter." Two months ago, a 61-year-old male passenger died near Chakradharpur on the Pune-Howrah Azad Hind Express. His wife alleged that the TTE ignored their pleas for medical assistance, holding the railways responsible for his death.

GRP, RPF prevent crowd crush at Puri station
Bhubaneswar: Govt Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force ( RPF ) personnel averted a potential stampede at Puri railway station during Rath Yatra on Friday. The event, which drew lakhs of devotees, to witness the pulling of chariots of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra, saw an unprecedented crowd surge towards the station as the procession halted in the evening. "As the chariots halted on the Grand Road, thousands of devotees rushed towards the railway station, creating a stampede-like situation. Quick-thinking officials from GRP and RPF swiftly revised their deployment strategies, forming human chains and zigzag cordons to manage the crowd effectively. Their timely intervention ensured no casualties occurred," a statement from GRP read. It added that special attention was given to vulnerable groups, with quick reaction teams and additional manpower deployed to high-density areas. Despite the extreme crowd pressure, only a few individuals fainted and were promptly attended to by GRP and ODRAF teams. The coordinated efforts of GRP and RPF, along with railway officials, ensured smooth movement of trains, with additional services to accommodate the rush. Senior officers, including Arun Bothra and Vivekanand Sharma, supervised the operations, ensuring a zero-casualty outcome. Railway authorities expressed gratitude for the exemplary service and crisis management.
