Early entrepreneurship education key to student growth, says S'wak minister

MIRI (July 26): Programmes that expose students to entrepreneurship from an early age are crucial in shaping confident, competitive and resilient individuals, said Sarawak Transport Minister, Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin. The Senadin assemblyman said this at the launch of the 'BARUian Carnival 2025' and the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and Sijil Tinggi Persekolan Malaysia (STPM) 2024 incentives' presentation at SMK Baru Miri today. On the carnival, Lee described it as being 'beyond a school event'. 'It is also a learning platform that helps students explore real-world experiences, especially in entrepreneurship, while helping them develop vital life skills such as communications, planning and teamwork,' he said. Lee also commended the school for its inclusive efforts in involving various units and community stakeholders, including the Curriculum Unit, Student Affairs, School Cooperative, Prefectural Board, Canteen Committee, Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), and the Parents Support Group (KSIB). 'The month-long programme has recorded strong participation from the entire school community, with 856 students, 80 teachers and staff, and more than 200 parents and guardians engaging in exhibitions, competitions, and sales. 'This level of engagement shows how a whole-school approach can empower students to grow holistically, intellectually, socially, and morally,' he said. The event also celebrated the academic achievements of 30 outstanding students, including 15 SPM candidates who scored 5As and above, and 15 STPM candidates who obtained Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.0 and above. They received incentives channelled from Senadin State Constituency Service Centre. SMK Marudi repeats impressive 100 pct pass rate in 2024 STPM

MIRI (June 24): SMK Marudi in Baram once again recorded an impressive 100 per cent pass rate in the 2024 Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) examination, maintaining the same achievement as in the previous year. Its principal Mohamad Effendi Panglima said a total of 38 out of 101 students who sat for the examination last year obtained a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.00 and above, despite a slight drop in the school's overall CGPA from 2.97 in 2023 to 2.68 in 2024. 'The top performer for this year is Dennis Balan Paulos from class U6 Glory, who achieved a perfect CGPA of 4.00,' he said at the STPM results presentation at the school today. Effendi said that other outstanding students included Christina Sani Madela, who scored a CGPA of 3.84; Audrey Lisa (3.75); Jeesika Sulai (3.75); and Elisia Veronica Jarmal (3.67). He pointed out the excellent results reflected the strong cooperation and commitment of the teachers, parents as well as the students.

OPSC Medical Officer Exam 2025: The Odisha Public Service Commission conducted the Medical Officer examinations today, June 8, 2025. Candidates who clear the examination will be required to go through candidate verification process. OPSC Medical Officer Exam 2025: Exam Pattern The exam was conducted for a total of 200 marks, with each question carrying one mark. For every wrong answer, 25 per cent of the mark will be deducted. The exam was conducted for a duration of three hours in Multiple Choice Question (MCQ)-based format. Proof of Identity such as Aadhaar card, PAN card etc,. Certificates of conduct. Community certificate as per the norms. Odia language test certificate from the Board of Secondary Education. Certificate of passing the screening test conducted by the National Board of Examination under the Medical Council of India. Disability Certificate. Discharge certificate from the Commanding Officer wherever applicable. Sports certificate issued by the director of Sports Odisha. As stated in the official notice issued by the OPSC, candidates are required to mention on each copy of the documents, "Submitted by me and Certified as genuine and has not been cancelled" and they must add their signature and date on the same.

DPM Ahmad Congratules 2024 SPM Candidates, MRSM Sets Extraordinary Feat
PUTRAJAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi congratulated all SPM 2024 candidates for their very proud achievements, including the increase in the number of excellent students and the best National Grade Point Average (GPK) since 2013. In a statement today, Ahmad Zahid, who is also the Minister of Rural and Regional Development, said he was also proud of the achievements of 7,650 SPM candidates from all 55 MARA Junior Science Colleges (MRSM). The average grade (GP) of SPM candidates from MRSM has increased to 1.892 compared to 2.392 last year. 'This result reflects the excellence and dedication of the students who have strived to achieve excellent results with the sacrifices and continuous support from parents and educators,' he said. The 2024 SPM examination results recorded the best performance since 2013 with a National Grade Point Average (GPK) index of 4.49 points compared to 4.60 points in 2023. Analysis of the 2024 SPM results showed that the number of candidates who obtained excellent results, namely Grades A+, A and A- in all subjects, increased to 14,179 students or 3.7 per cent compared to 11,713 candidates in 2023. Meanwhile, Ahmad Zahid said that 10 MRSMs had recorded excellent performance with a GP below 1.50 this year compared to only one MRSM last year. '31 MRSMs recorded extraordinary achievements with GP below 2.00 compared to only nine MRSMs last year. 'A total of 1670 out of 7650 MRSM students, or 21.83 per cent, obtained all A grades (A+, A and A-). This number shows an increase compared to 1131 students in SPM 2023,' he said.
