INDIANAPOLIS – Liberty guard Taelon Peter was chosen by the Indiana Pacers with the No. 54 overall pick in the second round of the NBA draft on Thursday night.

Who is Pacers pick Taelon Peter? 'This is why the NBA draft is beautiful because you hear guys like Taelon Peter hearing their name'
Peter, an Arkansas native, started his career at Tennessee Tech in 2020-21 and appeared in just six games as a freshman, then transferred Division II Arkansas Tech and spent three seasons there and was named Great America Conference Player of the Year in the third year before transferring to Liberty. He's listed at 6-4, 193 pounds and wasn't ranked very high on draft boards, but is known for having excellent athleticism.
The Pacers previously took Marquette All-American guard Kam Jones with the No. 38 pick, a selection they acquired from the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday. The Pacers previously traded the No. 23 pick in the first round to the New Orleans Pelicans to retrieve their first-round pick in the 2026 draft, which they sent to Toronto in the trade for Pascal Siakam.
