Al-Quds governorate: Settlement "Sports Club" project in Silwan violates Intel Law

Occupied al-Quds- Saba: Al-Quds governorate considered the opening of a settlement "sports club" in Ras al-Amud neighborhood of Silwan, south of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, a flagrant violation of international law and international legitimacy resolutions, most notably Security Council Resolution 2334 of 2016, which affirms the illegality of settlements in the occupied Palestinian territory, including East al-Quds. The governorate said in a statement Sunday evening that the so-called "sports club" is in fact an integral part of a broad settlement Judaization plan aimed at displacing Maqdeseyans from their lands and neighborhoods, as part of the "Greater Jerusalem / al-Quds" project aimed at changing the demographic and geographic character of the occupied city. It added: "The construction of this club within the Ma'ale HaZeitim settlement, which was forcibly established on Palestinian land in Ras al-Amud, is a practical embodiment of the policy of imposing facts on the ground and completing the settlement ring around the Old City and the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque." The governorate emphasized that the pretexts advanced by the enemy regarding "providing a recreational environment for all residents of Jerusalem" are misleading and unacceptable. Past and current experiences have proven that such facilities, built on occupied Palestinian land, are the exclusive domain of Jewish settlers, and Palestinian Jerusalemites are not permitted to enter or benefit from them, deepening the policies of apartheid and systematic ethnic discrimination against the city's indigenous residents. Al-Quds governorate recalled the enemy's targeting of the town of Silwan, as it is the southern flank of the blessed al-Aqsa Mosque, which has been subjected to an unprecedented settlement offensive for years. It emphasized that this new project is merely a link in a series of attempts to Judaize the city and erase its Palestinian, Arab, and Islamic identity, a claim rejected by the Palestinian people in all its components and will not be accepted under any circumstances. The governorate warned that international silence regarding these ongoing violations encourages the enemy to persist in its policies. It called on the international community, United Nations agencies, and human rights organizations to assume their legal and moral responsibilities, take urgent action to halt this illegal project, and hold the enemy accountable for its crimes against the city of Jerusalem and its residents. The municipality had previously announced the imminent opening of a settler "sports club" in the Ras al-Amud neighborhood of the town of Silwan, south of the blessed al-Aqsa Mosque. Zionist enemy seizes 1,398 dunums of Palestinian land in Quds

Occupied Quds - Saba: Al-Quds Governorate announced on Wednesday that the Israeli occupation authorities confiscated more than 1,398 dunams of Palestinian land in the city during the first quarter of 2025, under the pretext of expanding roads and settlements, such as Givat Binyamin, and annexing illegal outposts. It also revealed the implementation of infrastructure projects in the heart of Palestinian neighborhoods, including Wadi al-Joz, al-Ram, Kafr Aqab, Mikhmas, and Qalandia, as part of a plan aimed at Judaizing the city and imposing a new demographic reality by expelling the indigenous population. The Governorate warned against the "Greater Jerusalem" project, through which the occupation authorities seek to annex 223 km² of West Bank land, including 14 settlements within three settlement blocs, to isolate Quds from its Palestinian surroundings. It also noted the direct involvement of the Israeli municipality in settlement projects within Palestinian neighborhoods for the first time, reflecting the involvement of official institutions in Judaization operations. These measures were considered a violation of international law, and the international community, including the United Nations, the European Union, and Arab and Islamic countries, was called upon to urgently intervene to halt these violations and protect the legal and historical status of Quds.
