Reuters reported that traffic in the Red Sea decreased after the Houthis group announced in 2023 to start targeting ships that related to Israel, whether directly or indirectly, in a way to show solidarity with Palestinians under assault in Israel's war in Gaza.
The US Embassy in Yemen said, "The Houthis are once again showing blatant disregard for human life, undermining freedom of navigation in the Red Sea." "The intentional murder of innocent mariners shows us all the Houthis' true colors and will only further the Houthis' isolation."
Nonetheless and before the Enternity C, the Iranian-backed group had claimed responsibility for a strike on another Liberia-flagged, Greek-operated bulk carrier, the MV Magic Seas, off southwest Yemen on Sunday, adding that the vessel sank.
