Thousands participate in marathon held to promote sustainable living
Aimed at raising awareness about environmental protection and promoting sustainable living, around a thousand people participated in the Green Run 2025's 3-km and 5-km marathons on Sunday at the YMCA Grounds in Nandanam. Organised by Geo India Foundation, a non-governmental organisation, dedicated to environmental conservation and community welfare, the event was flagged off by M. Aswin, Deputy Development Commissioner, Madras Export Processing Zone, in the presence of Ammu Jayaraj, Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax (Benami Prohibition Unit), Chennai, and actor Parvathy Nair. Priya Jemima, founder of Geo India Foundation, said: 'Green Run is more than a fitness event — it is a movement that inspires collective responsibility toward preserving our environment,' a press release said.

Geo India organizes 'Green Run 2025' to create environmental awareness
Chennai, June 8 (UNI) Geo India Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to environmental conservation and community welfare, on Sunday organised a Green Run 2025, a unique eco-themed marathon aimed at raising awareness about environmental protection and promoting sustainable living. The event was held at YMCA Grounds, Nandanam, Chennai. It comprised of 3 kms and 5 kms runs which were flagged off by M. Aswin, Deputy Development, Commissioner, Madras Export Processing Zone, Union Ministry of Commerce, in the presence of celebrity Actress Parvathy Nair and Ms. Priya Jemima Founder Geo India Foundation. Participants from various walks of life, including students, fitness enthusiasts, corporate teams, and environmental activists, joined together and ran for a cause that affects us all and to ensure the need for a greener and healthier planet. The key Highlights of the event including promoting tree plantation, clean air, and eco-awareness, among others. Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Priya Jemima said, 'Green Run is more than a fitness event—it is a movement that inspires collective responsibility toward preserving our environment. Every step taken in this run echoes our commitment to a greener tomorrow.' The Green Run is supported by several corporate and institutional partners under their CSR programs and will also involve participation from school and college students, NGOs, and civic bodies.
