Cyber thugs impersonate Greenko MD, trick staff into transferring ₹2.7 cr

Hyderabad: In a high-stakes case of corporate impersonation, cyber criminals duped senior executives of Greenko Group into transferring ₹2.7 crore by posing as the company's managing director. The fraud was executed over WhatsApp using the MD's photo and convincing language, leading to two separate fund transfers in June first week before the deception was discovered. Cyberabad cyber crime police have launched an investigation based on a formal complaint from the company. The fraudsters contacted Greenko Group's chief finance officer (CFO), Subrat Das, via WhatsApp using two different mobile numbers. To lend credibility, they used a photograph of MD Anil Kumar Chalamalasetty as the display picture. On June 2, one of the imposters requested an urgent payment of ₹1.95 crore, citing client obligations. Following standard protocol, the CFO relayed the request to chief finance controller Virendra Kasliwal, who instructed senior general manager Sripada Chandra Sekhar to process the transfer. The funds were sent to an account under the name ONITSUKA Developers Pvt Ltd. A similar ploy was executed on June 5, resulting in another transfer of ₹75 lakh to Classic Constructions. The fraud came to light later that day when Chandra Sekhar shared the payment details with the MD's office and it was confirmed that no such request had been made by the real MD. "The actual MD confirmed that the mobile numbers used (956*33** and 752*512**) were not his," a cyber crimes police official said. Based on a complaint from Chandra Sekhar, a case was registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for cheating, impersonation, forgery, and conspiracy, along with section 66-D of the IT Act. The Greenko Group has assured full cooperation with the authorities in tracking down the culprits. Fraud at children's hosp foiled In a similar incident, fraudsters impersonated Dr Ramesh Kancharla, chairman of Rainbow Children's Medicare Limited (RCML), attempting to defraud the company of ₹20 lakh. Alerted by the unusual 'tone and tenor' of the messages, RCML's CFO contacted the chairman directly, confirming the scam. No funds were transferred, and a complaint was filed at Banjara Hills police station.

AM Green, Rotterdam Port sign pact for green energy supply chain

AM Green and the Port of Rotterdam Authority on Monday signed a pact to build a green energy supply chain between India and Northwestern Europe through Rotterdam, Europe's first energy port and a key hydrogen carriers' entry point. The scope includes the supply of bunkering fuels and sustainable aviation fuels (SAFs) and analysing requirements for the development of terminal infrastructure in Rotterdam and along the supply chain to Northwestern Europe, the companies said in a joint statement on Monday. AM Green, promoted by founders of Greenko Group, has a goal to develop 5,000,000 tons of green ammonia production capacity by 2030, equivalent to about 10,00,000 of green hydrogen, with initial production starting in Kakinada. The Port of Rotterdam plays a lead role as a critical logistics and hydrogen hub for the European continent with some 13% of the total energy demand in the continent entering through Rotterdam, the companies said. "The partnership is part of our ambitious global growth strategy in green fuels, including 5 million tonnes per year of green ammonia and 1 million tonnes of SAF,' Anil Chalamalasetty, Founder of AM Green said. Live Events The port of Rotterdam creates economic and social value in the Rotterdam-Rijnmond region, the Netherlands and Europe through employment and security of supply of energy, food and other materials. The aim of the Port of Rotterdam Authority is to strengthen the port's position as a future-proof logistics hub and industrial complex. Quality is central to this. The Port Authority's ambition is to develop a climate-neutral port that is in harmony with its surroundings. AM Green's target is to produce sustainable aviation fuel, green ammonia, green hydrogen, green chemicals and biofuels and to set up related technology partnerships and services through its various business verticals which are housed in the subsidiaries of AM Green.

India's $1 billion clean fuel gets gateway to Europe as AM Green ties up with Port of Rotterdam

AM Green , backed by the founders of Greenko Group, has partnered with the Port of Rotterdam Authority to establish a dedicated green fuel corridor linking India with Northwestern Europe. The alliance aims to enable annual trade of up to 1 million tonnes of green fuels, such as green ammonia and sustainable aviation fuel, valued at nearly $1 billion. The two sides have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to develop a green energy supply chain that will connect India's emerging green hydrogen production clusters with Europe's largest energy gateway, the Port of Rotterdam. The collaboration will focus on key elements such as supply of bunkering fuels and sustainable aviation fuels (SAFs), as well as planning for critical terminal infrastructure in Rotterdam and along the wider European supply chain. The goal is to enable the safe and efficient distribution of hydrogen-based fuels from India to Europe. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Shubh Aarambh with Honda Shine 100!
