Southbound traffic to close July 1 on the Main Street bridge for up to 3 months in Mishawaka
MISHAWAKA — The northbound lane maintenance on the Main Street bridge has been completed, and the southbound lanes will now be closed starting at 7 a.m. Tuesday, July 1, for work on those lanes. Motorists who would go south over the bridge are asked to use a detour of Fir Road, University Drive and Douglas Road. It's Sunburst Races weekend. Here's what to know about participating, bus detours
Thousands of walkers and runners will descend on downtown South Bend Saturday, May 31, for Sunburst Races, and Friday night events for runners will begin the celebration. Participants are going to Century Center to pick up bibs and race packets from noon until 7 p.m. Friday, May 30. Century Center, specifically the Jefferson Boulevard Bridge nearby, will be the start and finish lines on Saturday, May 31, for the entire schedule of Sunburst runs and walks. The 5K and half marathons begin at 7 a.m., while the 10K run starts at 7:35 a.m. The 5K Fitness Walk begins at 9 a.m., and race officials warn the finish line will be open until 10:45 a.m. For information on whether people still can sign up for Sunburst, go to Century Center or go to Sunburst will result in several detours and changes to bus routes and times by the South Bend Public Transportation Corporation (Transpo) Friday, May 30, and Saturday, May 31. Officials said ridersare being encouraged to review the detours in advance and plan their travel accordingly. Here are the route-by-route changes that will be in place because of the Sunburst Races: ■ Beginning at 6 p.m., Route 9 outbound buses will travel from Martin Luther King Drive right on Colfax, right on Frances, left on Northside, and left on Clover before they resume their regular route. Route 9 inbound buses will travel from Mishawaka Avenue and will turn left on Clover, right on Northside, right on Frances, left on Colfax,left on Martin Luther King Drive into the South Street Station. ■ Route 13 outbound buses will travel from Martin Luther King Drive right on Colfax and left on Hill before they resume their regular route. Route 13 inbound buses will travel from Hill and will turn right on Colfax, left on Main into the South Street Station. ■ Route 9 outbound buses will leave Martin Luther King Drive and travel right on Colfax, right on Frances, left on Northside, right on Sample, left on Lincoln Way before they resume their regular route. Route 9 inbound buses will travel from Lincoln Way to Martin Luther King Drive and go left to the South Street Station. ■ Route 13 outbound buses will take Martin Luther King Drive and continue on Michigan, turn right on North Shore/Howard to Corby before they resume their regular route. Route 13 inbound buses will travel from Corby to Howard, turn left on Michigan to Martin Luther King Drive into the South Street Station.
