Shaquill Griffin addition makes young Seahawks CB expendable
The Seattle Seahawks signed veteran cornerback Shaquill Griffin to a one-year contract earlier this week, reuniting with one of their 2017 draft picks. Griffin's addition pushes several cornerbacks further down the depth chart. It could spell bad news for sophomore corner Nehemiah Pritchett, who will enter training camp on the roster bubble. Pritchett was selected by the Seahawks in the fifth round (No. 136) of the 2024 NFL draft. The former Auburn standout struggled in limited action as a rookie. Occasionally thrown into the fire due to injuries, Pritchett wasn't ready to cover NFL-caliber wide receivers. As a rookie, Pro Football Focus assigned him a brutal coverage grade of 35.6. Opposing quarterbacks enjoyed a strong passer rating of 115.6 when throwing the football in his direction. Devon Witherspoon, Riq Woolen, and Josh Jobe will be the Seahawks' primary three cornerbacks. The recently added Griffin should be the top rotational reserve option off the bench. The Seahawks also added veteran corner Shemar Jean-Charles to their offseason roster. Pritchett struggled mightily as a rookie. The Seahawks have made moves this offseason that push the sophomore defender further down the depth chart. Pritchett will enter training camp at risk of being released following Griffin's addition.

Carlson: Former Fox colleague Jennifer Griffin ‘a true Trump hater'
Conservative pundit Tucker Carlson took a shot at Fox News reporter Jennifer Griffin after she pressed Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, also a former host for the outlet, over the Iranian nuclear program following U.S. strikes on three enrichment facilities in Tehran last weekend. 'Jen Griffin is a liar, but also very liberal — a true Trump hater, to the point where I complained about her,' he said during a recent episode of his podcast, first highlighted by Mediaite. 'And I really tried not to complain about other people at Fox when I worked there because I don't like that office politics stuff, but she was discrediting the channel.' Carlson also suggested he tried to convince leadership at the outlet to oust her, claiming she's 'too emotional.' 'I said to an executive at Fox, 'What are we doing with this Jennifer Griffin person? She's an idiot. She doesn't tell the truth. She misleads our viewers, and she's like a screaming liberal who hates Trump, who our viewers love,' he continued. 'So, what are we getting out of this?' And I was told, oh, you could not touch Jennifer. I don't know what that's about.' Hegseth also chastised Griffin during a briefing with reporters at the Pentagon on Thursday after she asked how certain he was 'that all the highly enriched uranium was inside the Fordow mountain?' 'Jennifer, you've been about the worst. The one who misrepresents the most intentionally,' Hegseth said. Griffin replied: 'In fact, I was the first to describe the B-2 bombers, the refueling, the entire mission with great accuracy … So I take issue with that.' Several of the Fox reporter's colleagues and elsewhere across the media defended Griffin and praised her work digging for more information on the U.S. strikes in Iran. The Trump administration has overtly defended its decision to attack the nuclear facilities, though competing reports have emerged on how much damage was caused. Fox political analyst Brit Hume called it 'an attack she certainly in my view did not deserve. Her professionalism, her knowledge, her experience at the Pentagon is unmatched. 'I have had and still have the greatest regard for her. The attack on her was unfair,' Hume said. Carlson has for weeks been ridiculing his former network over its coverage of the Middle East unrest, claiming top hosts at the network are trying to influence for the U.S. to get more involved in the Israel-Iran conflict. Fox fired the conservative commentator in 2023 while news reports in the weeks that followed revealed text messages showing the former host disparaging leadership at the network and making controversial comments about the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol and other issues.

Seahawks legend was thrilled to see Shaquill Griffin reunion
The Seattle Seahawks officially reunited with veteran cornerback Shaquill Griffin earlier this week, signing him to a one-year contract. One Seahawks legend was particularly happy to see it come to fruition after months of negotiation. Quandre Diggs took to social media to publicize his reaction, claiming he was thrilled to see Griffin "go home." The Seahawks selected Griffin during the third round of the 2017 NFL draft. He played out his entire four-year rookie contract in Seattle. Griffin peaked in 2019, earning a Pro Bowl nod that season. After leaving Seattle, he's since played for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Carolina Panthers, Houston Texans, and Minnesota Vikings. Diggs played for the Seahawks from 2019 to 2023, sharing two campaigns (2019-20) with Griffin. Diggs was outstanding for the Seahawks, totaling 324 tackles and 15 interceptions in four seasons. John Schneider released him from a bloated contract last offseason, and he signed a one-year deal with the Tennessee Titans. Diggs was playing quality football for the Titans before suffering a season-ending foot injury. The 32-year-old safety technically hasn't retired and could consider playing another season if the correct opportunity arises. Diggs would probably love to reunite with Griffin in Seattle, but the Seahawks are currently deep at safety.

Nicolle Wallace Defends Pete Hegseth's Former Fox Colleague Who He Called ‘About the Worst' at Misrepresenting Iran Raid
MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace came to the defense of Fox News reporter Jennifer Griffin after she was insulted in personal terms by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth earlier in the day. During a morning briefing, Griffin – a former collegue of Hegseth's from his days at Fox News – questioned Hegseth's assertions about damage to Iran's nuclear capabilities, to which Hegseth replied 'Jennifer, you've been about the worst.' Griffin for her part pushed back, defending her reporting and objecting to the insult, footage of which Wallace played on her MSNBC show. 'That was America's Secretary of Defense saying to Fox's highly respected, highly credible, highly experienced Pentagon correspondent, 'Jennifer, you're the worst,' Wallace recapped. 'You saw her there take issue with the assessment and go on to defend her reporting – none of which has been disproven.' She then focused on Hegseth's 'onslaught of attacks' made by himself and the Trump administration about the success of last weekend's bombings in Iran that the president said 'obliterated' the targeted facilities but later reports brought that in to question. 'Why does the Trump administration respond to questions from reporters or lawmakers trying to ascertain the success of the mission in striking Iran's nuclear program by attacking everyone asking those questions,' Wallace wondered. Hegseth's outburst against Griffin came Thursday morning after she asked about the success of Operation Midnight Hammer. 'Do you have certainty that all the highly enriched uranium was inside the Fordow Mountain?' Griffin asked. 'Are you certain none of that highly enriched uranium was moved?' Hegseth responded: 'Jennifer, you've been about the worst.' The Secretary of Defense went on to attack his former colleague, adding she was perhaps the most prominent reporter 'who misrepresents what the president says' about the success of the Iran bombing. Hegseth slams Fox reporter at press conference: ‘You've been about the worst'
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth attacked Jennifer Griffin, his former colleague at Fox News and a longtime member of the Pentagon press corps, amid a broader push to discredit media outlets reporting on intelligence laying out the extent of damages done by U.S. strikes to Iranian nuclear sites. 'Do you have certainty that all the highly enriched uranium was inside the Fordow mountain?' Griffin asked Hegseth during a contentious press conference early Thursday morning. Griffin noted satellite imagery she said showed 'more than a dozen trucks' at the site of the attacks 'a few days in advance.' 'Of course we're watching it,' Hegseth said before attacking the reporter. 'Jennifer, you've been about the worst. The one who misrepresents the most intentionally.' Griffin sat up in her chair to push back on Hegseth's attack. 'In fact, I was the first to describe the B-2 bombers, the refueling, the entire mission with great accuracy,' she said. 'So I take issue with that.' 'I appreciate that,' Hegseth replied. The spat came as Hegseth admonished the press corps for its coverage of the strikes on the three Iranian nuclear sites over the weekend, arguing members of the media should be more focused on the details and danger of the mission carried out by U.S. service members rather than leaked intelligence showing the damage might not have been as severe as President Trump and the administration claim. Trump and other top administration officials have dismissed what they are calling 'early' intelligence that was leaked to outlets including CNN, The New York Times and The Washington Post, leading the president and his allies to attack journalists who reported on the materiel. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters earlier this week that the individual who leaked the intelligence to journalists show 'be in jail.' Griffin is a longtime Pentagon correspondent for Fox, known widely for her reporting on military and foreign affairs. She reported earlier this spring on Hegseth's sharing of 'classified' information via the Signal group chat with Trump's Cabinet members, citing sources at the time who told her it put 'the joint force directly and immediately at risk.' Later on Fox's air, chief political analyst Brit Hume criticized Hegseth over his attacking of Griffin and defended her journalistic prowess. 'I'd like to say a word if I may, Dana, about Jennifer Griffin, who was attacked by the Defense Secretary today,' Hume said. 'An attack she certainly in my view did not deserve. Her professionalism, her knowledge, her experience at the Pentagon is unmatched. I have had and still have the greatest regard for her. The attack on her was unfair.'
