The Night Manager meets Slow Horses: Inside Richard Madden and Gugu Mbatha-Raw's new thriller series Trinity

No matter how many thriller series we watch, we're always in the mood for another one and Netflix's newly announced series Trinity, sounds right up our street. Announced yesterday (24 June) the new show will feature Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Richard Madden, as they team up with the creator of Bodyguard to create a high stakes thriller all about government, secrets and betrayal. Ok, so it's giving us big espionage vibes, similar to two of our other favourite shows Slow Horses and The Night Manager. Sounds intriguing? Well here's everything you need to know about it. Announced on X yesterday the official Netflix account shared a succinct plot of what we the series is about, which is as follows: "A heroic Naval Officer becomes involved with the charismatic Secretary of Defence, only to discover he may be at the heart of a dangerous conspiracy." Gugu Mbatha-Raw will take on the role of the naval officer Commander Katherine Decker, who is second in command on board the USS Kansas, which is a nuclear submarine, and jsut so happens to be one of the deadliest weapons on the planet. Meanwhile Richard Madden will play Secretary of Defence Webb Preston, who with a background in technology makes him stand out as a threat from other politicians. The show is created, written and executive produced by Jed Mercurio, who you will likely know as the creator of BBC's Bodyguard, which also starred Richard Madden. As previously mentioned leading the cast will be Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Commander Katherine Decker. Gugu shared the update of the new show on her Instagram yesterday, calling it "exciting news". You'll likely recognise Gugu from her roles in the series Surface, The Morning Show, Black Mirror and Loki. Also starring is Richard Madden as Secretary of Defence Webb Preston. You'll recognise Richard from his role as David Budd in the Bodyguard, as well as Robb Stark in Game of Thrones and from roles in movies such as Eternals and Cinderella. So far no other cast has been announced for the role.

‘Hades,' ‘Monument Valley' and More Indie Mobile Games Leaving Netflix as Streamer Continues Strategy Shift

'Hades,' the 'Monument Valley' franchise and several other indie mobile gaming titles are leaving Netflix next month amid an ongoing shift in the streamer's overall plan for its video games division. 'Just like with series and film, games will come and go from the service,' Netflix said in a statement to Variety. While some of these games are available via other platforms, a few were exclusive to Netflix. The removal of these indie mobile games comes a few months after Netflix formally unveiled its forward-looking gaming strategy to journalists during a presentation at the 2025 Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Francisco. From now on, its focus when developing titles will fall into four key categories: mainstream, narrative, kids, and party games. Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Lift, Surface and Richard Madden (Bodyguard, Eternals) have been set as the leads of the new Netflix drama series Trinity. Michael Cuesta will direct and executive produce the first and second episodes of the 20th Television-produced series. 'Bridgerton' breakout Simon Ashley, Apple TV+'s 'Surface' lead star Gugu Mbatha-Raw and the USC's Annenberg Inclusion Initiative founder Dr. Stacy L. Smith are set to lead the lineup at the upcoming Women in Film Conference, to be held at Oxford University. The day-long event at the university's Sheldonian Theater will, according to organizers, celebrate change and urge further progress. Bridgerton star to attend Oxford event for women in film industry

The star of Netflix's Bridgerton, Simone Ashley, will attend a film event in Oxford celebrating women in the industry this month. The actor will join leading star of thriller TV-show Surface, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, along with industry practitioners and university academics as part of a Women In Film event series. It comes as part of Oxford University's Cultural Programme which will include a free day of screenings, talks and more at venues across Oxford on Monday, May 12. Finola Dwyer, two-time Oscar-nominee and BAFTA-winning producer and Oriane Pick, actor and founder of Candid Broads Productions will also be involved in the event. This will include a panel discussion at the Sheldonian Theatre introduced by Professor Tracey and featuring world-renowned actors and practitioners. The panel will also welcome Dr Stacy L Smith, who founded a global think tank studying inequality in entertainment, the USC Annenberg Inclusion Initiative. Exclusive screenings of new work by the next generation of female filmmakers will be held at the Curzon Theatre, hosted by Ghetto Film School, with explanations from the artists themselves on the productions.
