Houston weather: More rounds of rain Tuesday, marginal flood risk in Texas Hill Country

The Brief Shower Chances Possible in Hill Country Daily Round of Storms for Houston Area Tropics Quiet for Now HOUSTON - Prepare for another round of rain in the Houston-area and a warm afternoon in the 90s. There are no active Flood Watches in Hill Country as of this morning, but the Weather Prediction Center has outlined a 1/4 risk for isolated flooding in Central Texas today. Scattered downpours are possible through this evening for parts of the Texas Hill Country that have been ravaged by extreme flooding over the holiday weekend. Rivers are now well within their banks and, in fact, most are close to the pre-flood levels, but any more intense rainfall could cause levels to rise again. We are expecting a daily scattering of summer downpours in the greater Houston area today and tomorrow. Individual storms could drop a quick 1-2" of rain each day. Widespread flooding is not expected, but isolated street flooding is possible. Please be careful and avoid any flooded areas. Late this week, the coverage of rain will decrease Friday and temperatures could rise into the upper 90s before scattered storms return for the weekend. Chantal is now a post-tropical cyclone and moving into the Atlantic Ocean. Chantal was the first U.S. landfall of the year. Nothing else urgent is brewing in the tropics as of this evening and models aren't showing threats for Texas over the next several days. The Source Your Gulf Coast Weather Authority

Houston weather: Scattered storms expected Saturday

The Brief More Scattered Storms On Saturday Muggy and Hot Father's Day Back to a Summer-like Pattern Next Week HOUSTON - Storms are expected on Saturday before a muggy Father's Day. Saturday and Father's Day Sunday both look muggy, but still unsettled with afternoon storms likely again. A few could briefly become strong, so isolated flooding is still possible, especially in the afternoon. So far, we don't see any indication of a break in the pattern of daily scattered thunderstorms for at least the next week. Lower rain chances are likely Tuesday and Wednesday, but coverage increases by the end of the week. High temperatures will remain near normal June levels with plenty of humidity as well. Still no tropical activity in the Gulf and Caribbean - in the Eastern Pacific, a new storm named Dalila, has formed near the Acapulco area. Dalila should move out into the open waters of the Pacific but tropical storm winds could impact the western Mexican coast for now. The Source Your Gulf Coast Weather Authority

Houston weather: Scattered storms for Father's Day weekend

The Brief Fox 26 Storm Alert this afternoon Flood watches South and East until 7 p.m. Muggy with scattered storms for Father's Day Weekend HOUSTON - Is the rain going to cooperate with weekend plans and Father's Day? Beginning around the afternoon, we could see some scattered, heavy storms as highs near 90. The National Weather Service has placed all coastal counties along with eastern Harris County under a flood watch until 7 p.m. Heavy downpours will probably hit areas outside the watch area, but counties south and east of Houston have received very heavy rain over the last 48 hours. Expect scattered strong storms beginning around noon and continuing through late afternoon with more than 3" possible. Saturday and Father's Day Sunday both look muggy, but still unsettled with afternoon storms likely again. A few could briefly become strong, so isolated flooding is still possible, especially in the afternoon. So far, we don't see any indication of a break in the pattern of daily scattered thunderstorms for at least the next week and probably beyond. High temperatures will remain near normal June levels with plenty of humidity as well. The Source Your Gulf Coast Weather Authority.

Houston weather: Hot, hazy weekend ahead

The Brief Heat Wave Roasting The Weekend Saharan Dust Moves into Texas Friday Evening Rainy/Stormy Pattern Next Week HOUSTON - A hot and very hazy weekend is on tap for the Bayou City this weekend. This weekend, we're looking for afternoon high temperatures to range from around 95-100 inland and near 90 along the coast. This heat comes along with heat index (feels like) values as high as 105. The sky will likely appear hazy by sunset Friday, and we could get interesting-looking sunrises and sunsets this weekend. At this point, major changes to air quality are not expected, but the combination of ozone and light dust could raise air quality ratings from moderate to "unhealthy for sensitive groups". A large area of high pressure that is bringing us heat and steering severe storms to West Texas and Oklahoma will stay strong through Sunday, then start to break down as low pressure moves in from the west. That low will bring a comp-late pattern change with clouds, off and on downpours and highs in the 80s. So far, so good in the Gulf and Caribbean over the next week or so. The eastern Pacific Ocean (south and west coast of Mexico) looks very active over the next week or two. The Source Information provided by your Gulf Coast Weather Authority Team.

Houston weather: Very warm Tuesday in the 90s, scattered storms Wednesday

The Brief Warm & Breezy Today with a Storm Possible Scattered Storms Wednesday High Heat and Saharan Dust on the Way HOUSTON - It's mostly sunny, warm and breezy Tuesday and as we move into the afternoon, an isolated storm is possible. Our afternoon high temperatures will rise from the low 90s today to the mid and possibly upper 90s by late this week into the weekend. Along with the heat, watch for one or two storms late today, then our highest rain chances arriving tomorrow afternoon. Beyond that, look for a daily isolated shower of storms with heat index values above 100. We will also watch for possible air quality issues beginning Thursday. A few times each year, mostly from May to August, a "Saharan Air Layer" will make its way across the Atlantic Ocean and move over the Caribbean and sometimes reach Texas. It looks like the latest plume of Saharan dust could arrive in Texas as early as Thursday and reach its peak Friday and Saturday. The dust is more noticeable at sunrise and sunset, but can also appear as haze during the day. It doesn't always affect air quality at the surface, but when it does, it can cause allergy-like symptoms, so check back for updates on air quality levels. An upper-level area of low pressure could mix down to the surface and create a small tropical low anywhere from Florida to North Carolina. The chance is slim, and it would have no effect on Texas.
