Aamir met Riteish, asked if I was working: Genelia on how she was cast in Sitaare
Actor Genelia Deshmukh opened up about how she was signed for 'Sitaare Zameen Par'. During a recent interview, she recalled that actor Aamir Khan's chance meeting with her actor-husband Riteish Deshmukh landed her the role. She also expressed surprise at how the audiences did not forget her despite her being away from the big screen for a long an interview with Hindustan Times, Genelia Deshmukh shared, 'Aamir met Riteish somewhere and asked, 'Is Genelia working nowadays?' Riteish said yes, and that's when Aamir suggested I meet RS Prasanna, the director. I auditioned for the role and got it. I know most actors might think, 'Why audition after 20 years?' But I believe it's a great way to land a film, and I'm genuinely excited that I did it.'advertisementShe then spoke about the audience's reaction to her work and said, "I didn't do much work for the last 10 years, maybe for friends, a song here and there. I did two-three films for OTT. I thought people would forget me and I didn't think I mattered. But it's refreshing to hear people say all this, that they want to see more." It's been the best compliment, that people want to see more of me. I would have really wanted it to be a blockbuster for them, and I am glad it picked up. The film will also star Genelia Deshmukh and Aparshakti Khurana. With director Aditya Dutt at the helm, Gunmaster G9, also marks the reunion of the Aashiq Banaya Aapne team. Emraan Hashmi and Himesh Reshammiya, a pairing that ruled the 2000s with their iconic music and thrillers, are making a comeback. The two are teaming up once again for an action-packed film titled Gunmaaster G9, set to release in 2026. The makers dropped a gripping announcement teaser on Wednesday. The film, directed by Aditya Datt, also stars Genelia Deshmukh and Aparshakti Khurana in key roles. In a video shared on Instagram, a mysterious hand can be seen pulling a gun from a bucket of milk, while Emraan's voice is heard in a dramatic tone: "Mujhe mach mach kiya, chalega. Galti se family ko touch kiya toh yaad rakhna, dhandhe se doodh waala hun, banda baroodwala hun." (You messed with me--fine. But if you mess with my family, remember this: I may be in the milk business, but I'm a man who deals with gunpowder).
