In a message posted on X, Siddaramaiah said, "It pains me deeply to see women being secretly filmed and harassed in public spaces, with such videos circulated online at the cost of women's dignity. This is not the Karnataka we stand for." He said prompt action had been taken by the govt, resulting in several arrests. "We are monitoring such activities closely," he wrote. "We must ask ourselves: where is our society headed if women cannot walk freely without fear of voyeurism or harassment? Such acts are crimes and betray our values as a society," he added. The CM urged people to be proactive in reporting such online content by calling 1930 or visiting "Let us all work together to build a Karnataka where every woman feels safe, respected, and free," he said. "To the women of our state: we stand with you. Your safety and dignity are our priority, and we will act firmly against such crimes," he said.

45 creepy Reels, 10k followers & 1 brave student: How Bengaluru Police tracked down Instagram voyeur targeting women

A 26-year-old man named Gurdeep Singh, a hotel management graduate, has been arrested by the Banashankari police in Bengaluru. He is accused of secretly filming women on the streets and posting the videos online without their permission. Gurdeep, who is currently unemployed, lives with his brother in a rented house in KR Puram. Police started tracking him after they noticed an Instagram account posting videos of women in a disturbing way. The videos appeared voyeuristic, showing women walking in public, often edited in slow motion to attract more viewers. On June 12, the police took up a suo-motu (on their own) case after the social media monitoring team flagged the account. Police Sub-Inspector Praveen Hosur filed the complaint under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (Section 78 for stalking) and the IT Act. The police then tracked the man's IP address and arrested him on July 10. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like War Thunder - Register now for free and play against over 75 Million real Players War Thunder Play Now Undo Student Speaks Out on Instagram The arrest came after a student from a private college raised an alarm on her Instagram account. She tagged the Bengaluru police and cyber crime officials, urging them to take action and get the account removed. Live Events Account Had 45+ Videos Police confirmed that by the time they registered the case, Gurdeep had uploaded around 45 videos, many of them edited in a way to draw more attention. The reels focused on women walking in public, edited in slow motion for views. PSI Hosur said they were already monitoring such accounts as part of a larger effort to control online content that could disturb law and order. A senior police officer told TOI that they are now working to get a court order to delete or deactivate the Instagram account. They have not revealed the username, fearing more people might view or share the videos. The investigation is still going on.

Indore's Helen Keller: Gurdeep Kaur, who can't see, hear, or speak, makes history with govt job; joins Income Tax dept

NEW DELHI: Gurdeep Kaur Vasu, widely known as 'Indore's Helen Keller', cannot speak, hear, or see, but these multiple disabilities have never stopped her from dreaming big. Driven by immense determination and courage, the 34-year-old has now achieved her goal of joining government service. After years of navigating social, academic, and bureaucratic challenges, Gurdeep has been appointed to Madhya Pradesh's Commercial Tax Department, making her possibly the first woman in India with speech, hearing, and visual impairments to secure a government job, according to social activists. Her family beams with pride, and her department praises her dedication. Gurdeep communicates using Tactile Sign Language, a method involving pressing hands and fingers to convey messages. Having studied up to class 12, Gurdeep has been posted as a Class IV employee at a Commercial Tax Department office in Indore. She was selected under a special recruitment drive for persons with disabilities, particularly under the "multiple disabilities" category, officials said on Wednesday. 'Gurdeep is learning her work with full dedication. She arrives at the office on time,' said Sapna Pankaj Solanki, additional commissioner in the department, told news agency PTI. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like American Investor Warren Buffett Recommends: 5 Books For Turning Your Life Around Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo Getting emotional while recalling her daughter's achievement, Gurdeep's mother, Manjit Kaur Vasu, said, 'Gurdeep is the first member of our family to get a government job. I never imagined she would reach this position. Today, people know me more as Gurdeep's mother than by my own name.' Manjit recalled that Gurdeep was born prematurely and had to be hospitalized for nearly two months. The family realized something was wrong when, even at five months old, she showed no response to sound, touch, or movement. It was then they discovered she could neither speak, hear, nor see. Gurdeep's success has brought immense joy to disability rights activists. 'This is the first time in the country that a woman with speech, hearing, and visual disabilities has joined government service. It's a historic and inspiring moment for the entire Divyang community,' said Gyanendra Purohit, a social justice activist. Purohit pointed out that while the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 provides for reservation in government jobs for people with various disabilities, including speech, hearing, and visual impairments, actual implementation remains a significant challenge. 'People like Gurdeep prove that disability is not inability. They can do everything, they just need an opportunity,' he added. Monica Purohit, a sign language expert and one of Gurdeep's teachers, explained that Gurdeep uses Tactile Sign Language to interact, gently pressing the hands and fingers of the person she is communicating with. Overflowing with joy after getting the job, Gurdeep expressed herself in sign language by spreading her hands wide: 'I am very, very happy,' she said.

India's first upcoming AI film gets global attention at Cannes

Clips from Maharaja in Denims, poised to be India's first full-length AI-generated feature film, have emerged as a striking proof of concept for the future of cinema at the ongoing Festival de Cannes. Based on Chandigarh-based author Khushwant Singh's novel of the same name, the movie has been generating buzz after Tony DeRosa-Grund, creator of The Conjuring universe, signed a five-movie slate with the tech start-up producing the film and announced the collaboration at the festival. The novel narrates the story of a privileged Chandigarh teenager who believes he is the reincarnation of Maharaja Ranjit Singh and a 1984 anti-Sikh riot victim. With its layered timelines and historical scale, the film would traditionally require a massive budget — yet it is now being produced through AI at one-tenth the cost. This pioneering foray into Hollywood places India at the forefront of storytelling through technological innovation. Earlier this May, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated India's first World Audio Visual Entertainment Summit in Mumbai, aimed at positioning India as a leading global player in entertainment technology. Maharaja in Denims is being produced by Intelliflicks Studio, a Chandigarh-based company currently in the production stage of the film, which is expected to release in August-September. The studio was founded in 2023 following a chance conversation between author Khushwant Singh and Gurdeep Singh Pall, the former vice-president of incubations at Microsoft. 'Gurdeep wanted to test the viability of producing a full feature film using AI tools based on my novel, and that's how we set up Intelliflicks,' said Khushwant, who is also co-founder of the studio along with Gurdeep. 'AI is no longer a conceptual future—it's a present force that enables films to be made that studios once deemed impossible due to cost or scale,' Gurdeep said. 'I'm thrilled to see this journey unfold,' said DeRosa-Grund. 'The concept of proof laid out through the clips of Maharaja in Denims has passed the litmus test in filmmaking. However, given the role of technology, our approach will not be to replace artists through AI — but to unleash them. This new medium isn't a prediction of what's coming. It's a production of what's now.'
