6 of the best things to do with the family during the summer holidays
North Wales is packed with amazing places full of colour, intrigue and history. And this summer is a great chance to get out and explore what our fabulous region has to offer, as well as natural wonders like Eryri, Aber Falls and the stunning coast.
If you are visiting Wales, or lucky enough to call this beautiful country home, then you are spoilt for choice about what to get up to this summer, with so much to enjoy for all the family.
So with the summer holidays upon us let's take a look at what you could get up to.
Menai Food Festival (Gwyl Fwyd Y Fenai)
Enjoy a wide range of delicious products from local, major, artisan food and drink producers plus international street food.
Crafts, music and family fun. It's in Menai Bridge on Saturday, August 16 and Sunday, August 17. Saturday 10am - 6pm Sunday 10am - 5pm. Admission is £5 per day. Accompanied children go free.
Explore history with the National Trust
There are plenty of National Trust properties across Wales to explore, many of which are holding summer activities. These include Erddig Hall and Garden, Penrhyn Castle and Garden, Chirk Castle, Olas Newydd House and Garden and Plas yn Rhiw.

Enjoy nature at RSPB Conwy
There is lots going on at RSPB Cymru sites this summer. There are a range of feathered visitors to RSPB Conwy in Llandudno Junction throughout the year. And if you fancy why not take one of the guided wildlife walks, which run on Saturdays. For more information, click here.
Sing your heart out at The Big Tribute Festival
Taking place in Aberystwyth is The Big Tribute Festival from Friday 22nd August – Sunday 24th August 2025. The festival is made up of tribute acts including Oasis, Queen, Bruce Springsteen, Abba and many, many more. For more information, click here.
Marvel at the World Bog Snorkelling Championships
In one of the more unique events this summer hundreds of participants dress up in crazy costumes and go snorkelling in the bog at Llanwrtyd Wells, on August 24. There are food and drink stalls, crafts, live music and a real ale and cider bar on the site, so it's a great day out even if you don't fancy taking the plunge. There is a small charge for parking on at the bog site.
Connect to Welsh culture at the National Eisteddfod
The National Eisteddfod is coming to Wrexham from Saturday, August 2-9. The Eisteddfod is Wales' largest cultural festival attracting over 160,000 visitors annually.
The Eisteddfod is based on almost 850 years of tradition and is the natural showcase for music, dance, visual arts, literature, original performances and much more. For more information, click here.
