Minister H.K. Patil reviews progress of various tourism projects in Kalaburagi
H.K. Patil, Minister for Law, Justice, Human Rights, Parliamentary Affairs, Legislation, and Tourism, conducted his department's progress review meeting on Saturday regarding various tourism projects identified under the 2020-25 Karnataka Tourism Policy. During the meeting held at the old Aiwan-e-Shahi guest house, Mr. Patil engaged with officials to assess the status of ongoing projects and sought updates on pending works. Anusuyya M. Huggar, deputy director of the Tourism Department, said that the concept report for ₹83.5 crore has been prepared for the development of Ganagapura in Afzalpur taluk and submitted to the government for approval. She stated that once funds are released, all essential infrastructure for tourism development would be provided. Additionally, a ₹100 lakh pilgrim accommodation project at Gattargi village is progressing. Officials also briefed the Minister on proposals submitted for the development of tourist destinations. Mr. Patil promised that he would work closely with relevant authorities to expedite the release of funds for tourism projects. He also highlighted that the 2024-25 Budget included plans for water adventure sports and tourism activities at Chandramapalli reservoir, which have recently commenced. The Minister added that several key tourist sites in Kalaburagi district were included under the 'Tourism Mitra' scheme, with 48 personnel appointed to assist visitors. Mr. Patil added that unemployed individuals would receive four to five months of skill development training, and ₹5 lakh financial assistance for mobile canteen operations under the Scheduled Caste Sub Plan (SCSP) for Scheduled Castes and Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP) to Scheduled Tribes. Three new proposals have been submitted, including land allocations for tourism activities in Atanur in Afzalpur taluk (2 acres, 30 guntas) and Kesartagi in Kalaburagi taluk (3.5 acres). Officials informed the Minister that ₹1,359 crore has been sanctioned for tourism projects across six implementing agencies. Rajaram, assistant director of Department of Archaeology, Museums and Heritage, said that the discussions were on in his department for heritage conservation efforts at Nagavi's 60 Pillar temple, Nandeshwara temple, Kari mosque, Sanjeevini Anjaneya temple, and archaeological exploration at Madhusudana temple. He added that a detailed project report was submitted for Kanaganahalli Information Centre in Chittapur taluk, with site inspections conducted by Dwijaa Associates and IDIC Bengaluru.

Karnataka Chitrakala Parishat inaugurates first edition of Namma Art Bengaluru
: The first edition of 'Namma Art Bengaluru,' a national level art fair organised by Karnataka Chitrakala Parishat (CKP) in association with the Department of Tourism, was inaugurated here on Wednesday. 'The objective of the fair is to provide an opportunity to artists of Karnataka and other states. CKP not only shapes artists, but also gives them hope and exposure,' said H.K. Patil, Minister of Tourism, Law and Parliamentary Affairs, who inaugurated the fair. He also remarked that Karnataka is one of the states that gives prominence to handcrafted sculptures, and mentioned that art is to be preserved for the coming generations. Following the inauguration ceremony, the audience were treated to a live painting demonstration by renowned speed painter Vilas Nayak who painted an image of a Yakshagana performer and the UNESCO heritage site, Hampi, within 8 minutes. The visitors said that they liked the collection of art at the fair. More than 100 participants from eight states across the country have displayed their art work at the fair. 'I love to collect art and I see a lot of things here which I will mostly be purchasing,' said Keerthi Patil, a patron at the fair. 'I am excited to be a part of the first Namma Art Bengaluru as this seems to be a promising annual event,' said Aayana Dwivedi, a student who had come to the fair. The five-day fair will conclude on June 1 and is being held at the CKP campus.

Bill seeking to reduce delay in disposal of civil cases gets Presidential assent, gets notified
Efforts by the Karnataka government to reduce delay in disposal of civil cases has got a boost with the Code of Civil Procedure (Karnataka Amendment) Act getting the President's assent. The legislation, which makes mediation mandatory and sets a time-frame for such mediation, was published in the State gazette on Monday. Addressing a press conference in Bengaluru, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister H.K. Patil said such an amendment was aimed at ensuring that any civil dispute is disposed of within 24 months. The Minister said the new legislation makes it mandatory to try mediation to end disputes. While a deadline of two months have been prescribed for the mediation process, the courts will continue with the hearing if the process fails to yield results, he explained. He said the Bill in this regard was adopted by the Assembly on December 17, 2024, and the Council on December 18, 2024, during the Winter session of the legislature in Belagavi. While the Governor had reserved the Bill for Presidential assent, the President gave his assent this May 19, he pointed out. The Minister said the new legislation had made provision for setting time limits for various procedures including written statements and collection of evidence.
