Today at 9am, family and friends are gathering for a private ceremony at Sao Cosme Chapel in Gondomar, near Porto. A wake will then be held tomorrow at 8am at the same chapel, followed by the funeral ceremony next door at the Igreja Matriz de Gondomar at 10am. It is unclear whether tomorrow's proceedings will be open to the public. What we know so far: Jota, 28, and André, 25, were driving through the A-52 in northwestern Spain en route to catch a ferry to the UK when a tyre blowout sent their car hurtling off the road near Cernadilla — a stretch locals have called 'very dangerous.' The vehicle caught fire and emergency crews pronounced both men dead at the scene. Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa is understood to be attending the wake. Jota's wife Rute Cardoso - who married the footballer just 10 days ago - is among grieving family members now preparing to lay the brothers to rest. The couple had three children, including a baby daughter born this year. Tributes have been flooding in since the horrific news, including from Jota's Portugal teammate Cristiano Ronaldo, former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp and current Reds boss Arne Slot.
