Fake drugs with face value of 17L seized
Ahmedabad: The state Food and Drug Control Administration (FDCA) raided multiple locations and seized spurious allopathic medicines worth Rs 17 lakh. Twenty samples have been sent for lab tests. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now FDCA commissioner H G Koshia said, "We caught duplicate medicines with names of Torrent Pharma's leading product Chymoral Forte, Glaxo's Augmentin, Ipca Company's Zerodol SP, Bioswift's Swifcef, and others on the packages. Primary assessment shows that these were made by using chalk powder and bought from other states in cash at half price without bills." He added, "Our team got information about this racket and raided houses and businesses in Vatva, Amraiwadi and Bapunagar. Our teams also caught stock of duplicate medicines. Our teams also raided shops in Vadodara, Surat's Katargam area, and Rajkot and seized duplicate medicines."

Gujarat sees 200 new Ayurvedic units in four years
Ahmedabad: Gujarat has seen increased interest from Ayurvedic medicine manufacturers in the last few years due to steady domestic demand and export opportunities. In the last four years, 200 new units were approved in the state by the FDCA. The year 2024-25 saw the arrival of 35 new plants. Just after Covid, the state saw 117 new plants, most of which started with sanitizer manufacturing. H G Koshia, commissioner, Gujarat State Food and Drugs Control Administration (FDCA), said, "Gujarat has continued to see new investments in Ayurvedic medicines manufacturing. The state has a strong base in the pharmaceuticals industry, and now, the number of Ayurvedic plants has also crossed the 1,000 mark. The state has a good ecosystem for the industry with raw material availability and manufacturing expertise. All the new plants come with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) standards." Dr Bhavesh Joshi, former vice-president of Gujarat Ayurved Aushadh Manufacturers Association (GAAMA), said, "Ayurvedic medicines demand increased since Covid because of increased awareness in India and globally. People started using Ayurvedic medicines in regular life, and due to that, new investment is coming into the industry. A good Ayurvedic plant requires a minimum Rs 10 crore investment. There are good export opportunities in the US, Europe, and the Middle East. FDCA raid ghee unit, seize 2,700 kg stock on suspicion of adulteration
Ahmedabad: The Food and Drug Control Administration (FDCA), in collaboration with the Surendranagar district food supply officer, conducted a raid at a ghee manufacturing unit in Gugaliyana village of Thangadh taluka on Tuesday. During the operation, they confiscated 2,700 kg of stock valued at Rs 13 lakh. FDCA commissioner H G Koshia said, "Our team raided Shiv Industries and Maheshwari Products and Chemicals, run by Rajesh Chavda, and found stock of branded ghee (Shree Bhog), loose ghee, butter, and refined palmolein oil. There is a suspicion of adulteration in the ghee. So, we took samples of four items. Our team seized stock weighing 2,700 kg, worth about Rs 13 lakh from the spot. We sent the samples to the laboratory for testing, and once the testing results arrive, we will carry out further legal processes. "

Hair dyes, male performance enhancement oils worth 1cr seized
G andhinagar: The state's Food and Drug Control Administration (FDCA) has seized duplicate cosmetics worth Rs 1 crore in raids conducted across Surat, Keshod, and Gandhinagar. The operations uncovered widespread manufacturing and online sale of counterfeit products. According to FDCA commissioner H G Koshia, a large quantity of packaging material and counterfeit products for online sale was found at the Surat residence of Rajesh Lathiya. Lathiya was found producing various "male performance enhancement" oils like Stamina Energy Oil, Lift Up Herba Massage Oil and Bull Massage Oil for Men, using misleading labels and operating without a licence. These products, along with packaging materials and online delivery boxes, were intended for online sale, primarily on platforms like Meesho, and were advertised on Instagram, read FDCA statement . This raid alone yielded fake products and materials valued at Rs 55 lakh. In Gandhinagar's Pethapur, Pradipsinh Solanki of Dulhan Enterprise was caught duplicating branded products Zeba Zulf-E-Henna and Hair Colour Natural Black, copying brands from Excell Impex Gujarat Pvt Ltd and Yutvika Natural Pvt Ltd. Products worth Rs 30 lakh were seized in the raid. The statement said that Solanki sourced packaging and printing materials from Shlok Industry, Naroda, Ahmedabad, without maintaining any bills or records. The investigation also expanded to Keshod, where one Kuldip Patoliya was found manufacturing duplicate cosmetics in partnership with the Surat operation, selling through Meesho platform. FDCA teams confiscated products worth Rs 55 lakh and sent 14 samples for laboratory analysis. Additionally, the FDCA received information about Kaishik Radadiya of Wrixty Ayurveda in Surat selling counterfeit cosmetics with fake licence numbers online. A raid on his location revealed the individuals were producing products at home using labels and materials sourced from agents in markets like Mumbai's Crawford Market. FDCA seizes fake cosmetics worth Rs 71.5 lakh after raids in three districts of Gujarat
The Gujarat Food and Drugs Control Administration (FDCA) on Thursday said it has seized fake cosmetics worth Rs 71.5 lakh, which were manufactured without any government licence, from three premises in Surat, Gandhinagar and Junagadh districts of the state. In Surat, a company was found manufacturing massage oils without any cosmetic licence, putting attractive and misleading labels on these products, and advertising them for sale, said officials. These products included 'performance oil', 'stamina energy oil', 'bull massage oil for men', and 'lift up herbal massage oil'. The products were sold on popular online platforms, they said. FDCA Commissioner Dr HG Koshia said that the residential premises of one Rajesh Dahya Lathia in Surat was raided and a large quantity of packing material and boxes of these duplicate products was found. In the same case, an FDCA team found a large quantity of duplicate cosmetic products from the house of one Kuldeep Patoliya in Keshod of Junagadh district, which were also being sold on online platforms. A total of 14 samples of these products were taken for testing and analysis while goods worth Rs 55 lakh were seized by the FDCA. In another case, the Commissioner said in a statement, the FDCA received information about large-scale online sale of fake cosmetics through social media by one Kaushik Dharmesh Radadiya, owner of M/s Wrixty Ayurveda in Surat. The FDCA team raided this premises and found that these products were being sold by printing fake licence numbers on them. In Pethapur, Gandhinagar, one Pradipsinh Chhatrasinh Solanki, the owner of M/s Dulhan Enterprises, was found making duplicate cosmetic products of a branded company from his home. Following the raid, goods worth Rs 1.5 lakh were seized.
