A four-year-old boy has died after a gravestone fell onto him in a cemetery in Lancashire. Emergency services were called to Rawtenstall Cemetery at around 1pm on Saturday afternoon following reports a gravestone had fallen onto a child. Despite efforts to save him, the boy died. Lancashire Police said his death is not being treated as suspicious and that it will pass a file onto the HM Coronor 'in due course' A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: "We were called to Rawtenstall Cemetery at 1pm today (July 5) following reports a gravestone had fallen onto a child. "Tragically, and despite the best efforts of the emergency services, the boy sadly died. Our thoughts are with his loved ones at this devastating time. "His death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be passed onto HM Coroner in due course." The cemetery, located on Burnley Road, caters for Catholic, Church of England, Non-Conformist and Muslim burials and currently holds over 21,000 burials and over around 17 acres. There is a chapel which can seat around 40 people which can be hired for a small fee.

A FOUR-YEAR-OLD boy has tragically died after a gravestone fell onto him in a cemetery. Paramedics rushed to Rawtenstall Cemetery in Lancashire at around 1pm today where cops confirmed the boy had sadly died. Lancashire Police have said his death is not being treated as suspicious and said they will pass a file to the HM Coroner "in due course." A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: "We were called to Rawtenstall Cemetery at 1pm today [July 5] following reports a gravestone had fallen onto a child. "Tragically, and despite the best efforts of the emergency services, the boy sadly died. "Our thoughts are with his loved ones at this devastating time. New Workington premises for Cumbria coroner service

A county's coroner facilities are moving to a new home, as its current building is no longer fit for current court and offices in Cockermouth were being relocated over lack of space and the building's age, Cumberland Council work on dedicated, stand-alone accommodation in Allerdale House, Workington, will begin on £2m project is due to be finished in November, and until then inquests will continue to be held in Cockermouth. Coroners investigate and, where needed, hold an inquest into deaths suspected to be due to violent or unnatural reasons, where the cause is unknown, or where it happens while a person is in 2024 there were 1,570 deaths reported to the coroner in Cumbria, with 450 inquests held. The project to repurpose part of Allerdale House will see the creation of a large main court room with jury facilities, a secondary court, three meeting rooms, a waiting area and reception. There will also be offices and welfare facilities for the coroner and support team, created across the ground and first floors. Councillor Anne Quilter said: "Due to the highly sensitive nature of the work of HM Coroner and inquests, it is crucial that these take place in appropriate facilities that meet the needs not only of HM Coroners and their staff, but importantly, the families, next of kin and friends of a deceased person, and the professionals supporting these processes. Body of man found on Blackpool Promenade

The body of a man in his 40s was found on Blackpool Promenade over the weekend. Emergency services arrived at the scene just after 1pm on Saturday, June 21. North West Ambulance Service were first to the scene and they called Lancashire Police to the scene after receiving reports of a sudden death, reports Lancs Live. It was confirmed by officers that the man in his 40s was dead at the scene. The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file is being prepared by HM Coroner. Mystery as man dies in car after being found ‘unresponsive' outside Asda car park

A MAN has been found dead in a car outside Asda. Cops rushed to the supermarket in Leicester at 7.10am on Saturday. A man in his 70s was found unresponsive and then declared dead - though police have not released further details about the circumstances. A witness told LeicestershireLive there were multiple police cars at the scene, as well as a private ambulance and two truck. A Leicestershire Police spokesperson said: "Shortly after 7.10am on Saturday police were called after a man was found unresponsive in his car in Exploration Drive, Leicester. "Officers attended, along with the ambulance service, and the man, who is in his 70s, was declared deceased at the scene. "There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding his death and a file will be prepared for HM Coroner." 1
