This OLED RTX 5060 beast for $350 off is one of the best early Prime Day gaming laptop deals I've seen

Summer is in full swing and Prime Day is coming up fast, but I've already spotted a great deal on a new RTX 5060 OLED laptop that you can snap up right now if you're fast enough. See, the HP Omen Transcend 14 is $1,479 @ Best Buy, which is $350 off the usual $1,829 asking price for this OLED gaming laptop. It's one of the best Prime Day laptop deals I've seen so far, but I don't know how long it will last! This HP Omen Transcend 14 gaming laptop rocks a 120Hz 2.8K OLED display, an Intel Core Ultra 7 255H CPU, and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 laptop GPU. You also get 32GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD for storage, all squeezed into a thin RGB-studded laptop decked out in HP's Shadow Black color scheme. I say that because for my money, an OLED display and an RTX 50-series GPU are two of the things I prize most in a new gaming laptop, and you get them both for a discount with this deal. The laptop HP has on sale is actually newer than the model we used for our HP Omen Transcend 14 review, and we loved it then, so you can count on even better performance than what we saw in our testing lab. That means you should be able to play even the best PC games at good to great framerates on the laptop's 14-inch (2,880 x 1800) 120Hz OLED display. And with an Intel Core Ultra 7 CPU, Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 laptop GPU and 32GB of LPDDR5X RAM onboard this beefy beast isn't just great for gaming—it's also got enough power for serious audio/video editing, coding, game development and more. You can use a wide variety of accessories with it too thanks to the abundant port array, which including a pair of USB-A ports, a pair of Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports, an HDMI out and a headphone jack for when you want to game or work undisturbed. This pint-sized powerhouse is fairly thin and light to boot, weighing just under 4 pounds and measuring about 0.7 inches thin. That's thinner and lighter than most of the best gaming laptops, so this is a great choice for anyone who wants to carry a gaming powerhouse in their backpack. However, like most gaming laptops the HP Omen Transcend 14 chews through battery when gaming on the go. You'll be lucky to get one hour of gaming on battery, and even when you're just doing basic work and surfing the web you won't get much—this laptop lasted under 5 hours in our battery tests, so you'll want to carry the charger with you if you're going out for the day. Even so, this is a killer deal on one of our favorite gaming laptops of the last few years, so I recommend you act fast if you want one!

I test gaming laptops for a living — here are 3 I recommend and would buy with my own money

As a lifelong gamer and a hardware reviewer, I know a thing or two about what makes the best gaming laptops worthwhile. The perfect gaming laptop needs a bright, vibrant screen, solid specs, and a design that isn't too flashy. It's also important that a machine can be viable for years and won't destroy your bank account. With that in mind, I've compiled a list of gaming laptops that I'd not only recommend but that I'd buy with my own money. They're not just great for playing the latest games; they're also super capable for everyday stuff like writing and editing videos or audio. The HP Omen Transcend 14 may be a gaming laptop, but there's nothing about its look that screams "gaming laptop." Thanks to a sleek design and understated RGB keyboard, it could easily pass for a business ultraportable. HP even calls it "the world's lightest 14-inch gaming laptop," and it's definitely the slimmest I've listed here. The HP Omen Transcend 14 delivers the goods thanks to its great gaming performance, classy design, vibrant OLED display and RGB-lit keyboard. While its battery life disappoints and it only has effective USB-C charging via one port, its strengths outweigh its deficiencies. Under the hood, it's got an Intel Core Ultra Meteor Lake chip and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 laptop GPU. Though not the latest components, they're enough for playing games at medium graphical settings. On top of that, games look and run smoothly on the Omen Transcend's 14-inch 2.8K 120Hz OLED. Battery life is pretty low, even for a gaming laptop, lasting for a little less than an hour in our testing. Because of that, it might not be your best bet if you're looking for an all-day, every-day notebook. Still, the HP Omen Transcend 14 is an exceptional and incredibly thin gaming laptop. The Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 (2024) might not be new, but it's still a great gaming laptop. It's super portable, packs a punch performance-wise, and rocks a gorgeous OLED display. Plus, it's surprisingly quiet. Beyond gaming, the Zephyrus G14 is comfortable to work on thanks to its roomy keyboard and nice, chunky keycaps. The Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 (2024) delivers the goods thanks to its thin design, powerful performance, gorgeous OLED display and excellent typing experience. Though it's an older model, you can still have a lot of fun gaming at medium graphical settings on this sleek laptop. The Zephyrus G14 has a clean, minimalist look that's closer to one of the best MacBooks than a typical gaming laptop. The only hint of a "gamer" vibe is a cool diagonal light on the lid. And don't worry about ports, it's got a good selection on both sides for all your gaming peripherals. The 14-inch (2880 x 1800) OLED is a showstopper. Games and videos look incredible, with deep blacks and vibrant HDR really pulling you in. For competitive players, the silky smooth 120Hz refresh rate and lightning-fast 0.2ms response time give you a serious edge. This is the newest and priciest gaming laptop I recommend, and it's certainly worth every penny. The Alienware 16 Area-51 Gaming Laptop is a futuristic-looking device featuring powerful components that deliver an incredible gaming experience. The Alienware 16 Area-51 gaming laptop makes a bold statement thanks to its (inter)stellar design, powerful RTX 50-series performance and vibrant 16-inch display. Though it demands a steep price and can be heavy to carry, this laptop delivers an out-of-this-world gaming experience. The Liquid Teal finish on the anodized aluminum chassis gives this laptop a dark iridescent sheen that shifts colors when viewed under different lighting conditions. I also like how the RGB lighting on the back mimics the motions of the aurora borealis, which serves to heighten this laptop's otherworldly feel. And if that wasn't enough, there's a clear Gorilla Glass window on the bottom that lets you see the internal components. Speaking of internals, all configurations pack an Intel Core Ultra 9 CPU and up to an RTX 5090 GPU. Combine that with up to 64GB of RAM, and you have a machine that can play the best PC games at high frame rates, especially with Nvidia DLSS 4 enabled. Games also look beautiful on the laptop's 16-inch 240Hz display.

Act fast to save over $300 off this RTX 5070 OLED gaming laptop

The HP Omen Transcend 14 is an eye-catching ultraportable gaming laptop with a gorgeous 14-inch OLED display, and right now you can score a great deal on one packing Nvidia's new GeForce RTX 5070 laptop GPU. For a limited time the HP Omen Transcend 14 is $1,714 @ Best Buy , which is over $300 off the usual $2,039 asking price for this cutting-edge gaming laptop. For more deals, check out our top picks in the Best Buy Member Deal Days Sale. This model of HP Omen Transcend 14 sports a 120Hz 2.8K OLED display, an Intel Core Ultra 9 285H CPU, and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 laptop GPU. You also get 32GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD for storage, all squeezed into a thin RGB-studded laptop decked out in HP's Shadow Black color scheme. In fact, the model Best Buy has on sale right now is even newer and more capable than the older version we checked out for our HP Omen Transcend 14 review, and we loved it then. So you can count on this newer, faster Omen having the power to run even the best PC games at good to great framerates on the 14-inch (2,880 x 1800) 120Hz OLED display. I've been reviewing gaming laptops for over a decade, and for my money few upgrades make more of a difference these days than a good OLED display. Don't get me wrong, you want the power of this model's laptop-grade Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 GPU and Intel Core Ultra 9-285H CPU and 32GB of RAM to run games well, but the 3K OLED display is going to make them look amazing. And when you're done gaming, all your favorite movies and shows will also look lovely on the HDR-capable 14-inch screen. Plus, this gaming beast is remarkably thin and light, measuring just over 0.7 inches thin and 3.6 pounds heavy. That's no MacBook Air, but it's close, and the HP Omen Transcend 14 has the power to play just about any game you could throw at it. It also has a comfy keyboard that feels satisfying to type on, with customizable RGB lighting. You get enough ports to use a good variety of accessories, too, including a pair of USB-A ports, a pair of Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports, an HDMI out for plugging into external displays and a headphone jack for when you're in a coffee shop. However, be prepared to carry the charger with you when you're out and about because the battery life isn't great. In our testing this laptop lasted under 5 hours normally and just one hour while gaming, which is par for the course when it comes to gaming laptops. But most gaming laptops don't look this good on a desk, and it's still fairly rare to see this much of a discount on a premium RTX 50-series gaming laptop, so if this deal appeals it's probably wise to act fast.
