Huma Qureshi says not every item song has male gaze and objectification of women, some ‘celebrate the female form'
By HT Entertainment Desk | Written by Riya Sharma Jul 02, 2025 01:33 PM IST Bollywood actor Huma Qureshi is currently garnering praise for her dance number, Dil Thaam Ke in Rajkummar Rao's film Maalik. In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Huma spoke about how she has been boxed into doing serious roles in Bollywood and shared her thoughts on item numbers being criticised for vulgarity and objectification of women. Huma Qureshi's still from her dance number Dil Thaam Ke from Maalik. Talking about the criticism surrounding item songs, Huma said, "Kuch gaane hote bhi hain jo bahut male gaze waale gaane hote hain (There are some songs that are clearly male gaze-driven). Where you know there is objectification of women, and it's being done for a purpose. And as a woman, you get that feeling 'galat jagah aa gaye' ('I've ended up in the wrong place'). But as far as you are talking about the song which is celebrating the female form, her sensuality and glamour, there's nothing wrong with it." Huma thinks that her choice of serious and intense roles at the beginning of her career stopped filmmakers from giving her a full-fledged dance number in films. She further talked about getting stereotyped and said, "I think why should people box me that you can only do intense film, you are only good or doing this. I am like, who made this rule? Why should I adhere to your idea of what I am good for? I can do this also and that too, and choose when I want to do what." Apart from a special appearance in Rajkummar Rao and Manushi Chhillar's Maalik, Huma will next be seen in the movie Jolly LLB 3. The black comedy legal drama film, written and directed by Subhash Kapoor, is the third instalment in the Jolly LLB series. The film also stars Akshay Kumar, Arshad Warsi, Amrita Rao, Saurabh Shukla, and Annu Kapoor. The film will see a face-off between Akshay and Arshad and is scheduled to release in theatres on September 19.

Abhishek Bachchan recalls wife Aishwarya Rai's advice on dealing with negativity
By HT Entertainment Desk | Written by Riya Sharma Jul 01, 2025 03:16 PM IST Both Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai have been part of the entertainment industry for a long time. While Aishwarya has recently been away from films, Abhishek has continued to entertain audiences with diverse roles. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, the actor, who has often been subjected to criticism, opened up about Aishwarya's advice on dealing with negativity. Abhishek Bachchan reveals what Aishwarya Rai had to say about dealing with negativity. Abhishek had once said that he wants to keep everyone happy and wants everyone to love him. When asked if he still holds that ambition, he said, "Yes. Time teaches you that sometimes you can be foolish. Don't be so idealistic. But I don't ever want to let go of that. The day I say yaa I can't make everyone happy, this is me take it or leave it, for film actor it's very arrogant and it will be the death of you. There will be no more desire to improve. I understand that it's alot more challenging than you say it." He further recalled Aishwarya Rai's advice on dealing with negativity and said, "But I still want to make everyone happy. I still pay attention to all the negative reviews and anybody who says negative things. Sadly, as human nature pays more attention to negativity than positivity. And Aishwarya always said, it's water off a duck's back. Why are you concentrating on the negative stuff? Concentrate on the positive, that so much outweighs anything else." Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan's relationship Aishwarya and Abhishek first crossed paths on film sets in the early 2000s, but it was during the making of Guru (2007) that their bond deepened. By the time the film hit theatres, so did news of their engagement. They tied the knot in 2007 in a grand wedding ceremony and welcomed their daughter Aaradhya in 2011. The couple have kept their relationship largely private and away from public scrutiny. There have been rumours about their separation, but the two have chosen not to address them publicly, instead silencing speculation subtly through joint appearances at public events.

Aamir Khan recalls darkest phase of life after divorce from Reena Dutta: 'I was trying to kill myself'
By HT Entertainment Desk | Edited by Ritika Kumar Jun 30, 2025 04:15 PM IST Aamir Khan recently opened up about one of the most painful periods of his life, i.e. his separation from his first wife, Reena Dutta, in a recent interview. In a candid conversation with The Lallantop, the actor revealed how his 2002 divorce plunged him into a period of deep depression and alcohol dependence. Ironically, this came at a time when he was being celebrated for the massive success of Lagaan and Dil Chahta Hai. (Also read: Aamir Khan credits Salman Khan for emotional support during depressive phase: 'I was in a dark place') Aamir Khan and Reena Dutta married for 16 years. 'When Reena and I separated, I drank an entire bottle of alcohol that same night. For the next year and a half, I drank every day. I couldn't sleep. I would just pass out from the alcohol. I was trying to kill myself,' Aamir said. Despite being lauded in the media, one publication even calling him 'Man of the Year', Aamir said the recognition felt hollow. 'That year, both Lagaan and Dil Chahta Hai were released and were doing incredibly well. I found it ironic. I wasn't working. I wasn't meeting anyone. My personal life was in ruins,' he said, fighting back tears. Only a few people from the industry reached out during that isolating time. One of them was Juhi Chawla, his co-star from Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, with whom he hadn't spoken in seven years. Aamir recalled that Juhi visited him and encouraged him to patch up with Reena. That could not happen, but Aamir appreciated Juhi's warm gesture. Aamir and Reena's relationship Aamir and Reena's relationship began long before his rise to stardom. They were neighbours who used to exchange glances through their windows. Deeply infatuated, Aamir pursued Reena for years before she agreed to a relationship. The two eventually married in secret, and Reena even made a brief appearance in Aamir's debut film Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak. The couple were married for 16 years and had two children—Junaid and Ira. Their marriage ended a year after they worked together on Lagaan.
