"Then, when I knew what I was dealing with, this morning I was so relaxed and just enjoyed every second – the process of getting the car to the start line, being inside the car and driving this amazing machinery. "Doing all that in this amazing setting, the Festival of Speed, is such a privilege. I'm very grateful for the experience." Haas has witnessed considerable growth after Komatsu took over the team's leadership ahead of the 2024 season. In 2023, the team finished at the bottom of the constructors' championship, leading many to make purchase offers to Gene. Komatsu pointed out that the team was not for sale. He said before the Festival of Speed: "Honestly, he's seen lots of changes. He's so engaged now. He understands the details as well. What's the best way to put it? He's always been very passionate about the sport and the result. He always wants us to improve, which is what we need from the owner. He was always behind us. "I don't know everything, but in the last 18 months he's had numerous offers to buy the team. He's not interested. He really enjoys being the owner of the F1 team. Currently one out of 10, from next year one out of 11. That's such a privileged position to be in. "He came in at a time when F1 wasn't like this. He stuck with us during such a difficult period of COVID. Now he's enjoying it. "Honestly, Gene's so committed. He's coming here [to Silverstone], obviously. He's arriving Friday or tomorrow and then staying for Goodwood. He's enjoying it. That's the main thing. "We are grateful that we have such a passionate owner, so committed. He's not interested in selling at all. I can tell you recently I had some people really pushing to buy it, [Gene's] not interested. He got even annoyed that these guys are asking so many times."

Bearman's eighth was the highest qualifying position of his career and he is optimistic of a strong race on Sunday. 'We actually had a very, very strong qualifying and the car was feeling great, the best it's ever felt for me,' Bearman said. 'We bought an upgrade this weekend and clearly it's showing potential because our qualifying pace has not been fantastic recently and now to be in Q3 on merit is a good feeling. 'If we have a car that's P8 in qualifying, it means we have a very quick race car because normally our qualifying car is not quite as fast as our race car. Oliver Bearman is slapped with 10-place grid penalty at Silverstone after bizarre pit-entry crash
Oliver Bearman has received a 10-place grid penalty ahead of the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. The Haas driver was penalised after he bizarrely crashed upon entering the pit during final practice on Saturday. Earlier in the session a red flag was raised as a result of Bearman losing a piece of bodywork from his car, with marshals having to retrieve the part from the track. Later, another red flag was shown when Gabriel Bortoleto's car spun off the circuit at high speed. Bearman headed towards the pit lane but ended up spinning and lost the front wing from his car. The incident was investigated by stewards, with Bearman subsequently being penalised. The document read: 'Car 87 had slowed down for the red flag and as he was approaching Turn 15 accelerated significantly to race pace and entered the pit entry road at 260kph. He lost control of the car in the pit entry road and crashed into the barriers. 'Art. 37.6 (a) of the Formula One Sporting Regulations and Art. 2.5.4.1(b) of Appendix H of the International Sporting Code require that when a red flag is shown 'all cars must immediately reduce speed and proceed slowly back to the pit lane'. 'It is beyond doubt that the driver of Car 87 did not proceed slowly back to the pit lane when he accelerated to simulate entering into the pit entry road under race conditions. 'In fact, we looked at a previous in-lap under normal racing conditions and found that he was faster in this lap, under a red flag. 'To make matters worse, he lost control of the car and crashed into the barriers while at speed. The driver informed us that he misjudged the fact that his brakes were not warm because the lap was done slowly, due to the red flag. 'While this may have been a factor contributing to the crash, we did not consider it to be a mitigating factor.' Bearman has also received four penalty points, which means that he now has eight on his licence. 20-year-old Bearman is set to compete in his first race at Silverstone as an F1 driver.
