Iran's Guardian Council Approves Cooperation's Suspension with UN Nuclear Watchdog
The Iranian Guardian Council approved on Thursday a law suspending Tehran's cooperation with the UN nuclear watchdog, according to Arab News. Cutting Relations The legislation, which halts Iranian ties with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), is currently waiting for the final ratification of President Masoud Pezeshkian. This move would 'ensure full respect for the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Islamic Republic of Iran … especially with regard to uranium enrichment,' spokesman Hadi Tahan Nazif said. Moreover, the suspension would prevent UN inspectors from having any access to Iran's uranium enrichment operations at Fordow, Isfahan and Natanz. 'Today, after the Constitutional Council's approval, the law suspending cooperation with the IAEA was handed over to the administration,' Iran's parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said in a post on social media platform X. Series of Escalations This legislative move comes as a response to a series of escalations that began on June 13, when Israel launched a wave of airstrikes on Iran under the name of Operation Rising Lion. The military campaign targeted Iran's nuclear facilities and killed top military commanders and nuclear scientists. Consequently, the US launched airstrikes on Saturday targeting Iran's nuclear facilities in Natanz, Fordow, and Isfahan. 'The United States showed that they have no respect to United Nations Charter. They have no respect to international law. They crossed a very big red line by attacking nuclear facilities,' Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said. In response, Iran also launched a missile attack on an American air base in Qatar on June 23 without causing any causalities. US President Donald Trump described the attack as a 'weak response' to the US attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities. Iran approves law to halt IAEA cooperation
Shafaq News – Tehran On Thursday, Iran's Guardian Council approved legislation passed by parliament mandating the suspension of government cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), escalating tensions over the country's nuclear program. Council spokesperson Hadi Tahan Nazif said the bill requires the Iranian government to halt all cooperation with the UN nuclear watchdog until 'national sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the security of Iran's nuclear scientists and facilities' are fully guaranteed. The legislation passed unanimously in parliament, with all 221 members present voting in favor. The Guardian Council clarified that the suspension applies to all forms of cooperation under the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) and the IAEA's safeguards system. Cooperation will remain frozen until Iran verifies that its conditions are met, including international respect for its sovereign rights and security assurances for its nuclear program. Specifically, the bill demands guarantees for Iran's right to enrich uranium under Article IV of the NPT, which affirms every member state's right to develop nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. Verification of these conditions must come via a report from Iran's Atomic Energy Organization and approval from the Supreme National Security Council. The government is also required to submit quarterly progress reports to both the Islamic Consultative Assembly and the security council.

Guardian Council in Iran approves law to end cooperation with nuclear watchdog
TEHRAN: Iran's powerful Guardian Council on Thursday approved legislation that would suspend Tehran's cooperation with the UN nuclear watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency. The proposed suspension, which will now be submitted to President Masoud Pezeshkian for final ratification, would 'ensure full respect for the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Islamic Republic of Iran ... especially with regard to uranium enrichment,' spokesman Hadi Tahan Nazif said. The watchdog passed a resolution two weeks ago accusing Iran of non-compliance with its nuclear obligations. A suspension of cooperation with the agency would deny UN inspectors access to Iran's uranium enrichment operations at Fordow, Isfan and Natanz, which were attacked in US bombing raids last Sunday. Meanwhile confusion continued to surround the location of Iran's stockpile of about 400 kg of highy enriched uranium. Satellite images from before Sunday's attacks showed a long line of vehicles outside the Fordow plant. Some experts believe Iran used the convoy to move the uranium and other nuclear components, and is hiding them elsewhere. However, US President Donald Trump and his Defense Secretary Peter Hegseth both insisted on Thursday that the stockpile at Fordow had been destroyed. 'The cars and small trucks at the site were those of concrete workers trying to cover up the top of the shafts. Nothing was taken out,' Trump said. Hegseth said: 'I'm not aware of any intelligence that I've reviewed that says things were not where they were supposed to be.'

Iran vetting body okays bill suspending UN nuclear watchdog cooperation
The Iranian body tasked with vetting legislation approved a bill to suspend cooperation with the United Nations nuclear watchdog on Thursday, citing recent US and Israeli strikes. Iranian lawmakers voted in favour of the bill on Wednesday, a day after a ceasefire ended a 12-day war with Israel that saw Israeli and US strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities. Since the start of the war on June 13, Iranian officials have sharply criticised the International Atomic Energy Agency for failing to condemn the strikes. Iran has also criticised the watchdog for passing a resolution on June 12 accusing it of non-compliance with its nuclear obligations. Iranian officials say the censure motion was 'one of the main excuses' for the Israeli and US attacks. 'The government is required to suspend all cooperation with the IAEA to ensure full respect for the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Islamic Republic of Iran,' Guardian Council spokesman Hadi Tahan Nazif told the official IRNA news agency. He said the move was prompted by the 'attacks … by the Zionist regime and the United States against peaceful nuclear facilities'.

Tehran – The Iranian body tasked with vetting legislation approved a bill to suspend cooperation with the United Nations nuclear watchdog on Thursday, citing recent US and Israeli strikes. He said the move was prompted by the 'attacks… by the Zionist regime and the United States against peaceful nuclear facilities.' The bill, which will now be submitted to President Masoud Pezeshkian for final ratification, would allow Iran 'to benefit from all the entitlements specified under… the Non-Proliferation Treaty especially with regard to uranium enrichment,' Nazif said. Key Tehran ally Moscow had earlier spoken out against the move to suspend coooperation with the IAEA. 'We are interested in continuing cooperation between Iran and the IAEA, so that everybody respects Iran's repeated statements that Iran does not have and will not have plans to develop a nuclear weapon,' Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told a news conference. Parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said in a post on X that cooperation with the watchdog was 'not possible' at this time until security at Iran's nuclear facilities 'is ensured.' Israel launched a major bombing campaign on June 13 that targeted Iranian nuclear and military facilities and killed top scientists and commanders. On Sunday, Israel's ally the United States launched unprecedented strikes of its own on Iranian nuclear facilities at Fordo, Isfahan and Natanz. A ceasefire between Iran and Israel took effect on Tuesday.
