According to the local daily Borneo Bulletin, Sultan of Brunei Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah has warned that the misuse of AI could spread harmful ideas, distort thinking, and even weaken faith. The sultan stressed that the rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) technology is akin to a form of "migration" that is now deeply embedded in daily life.

The event took place at the building of the Ministry of Health. Haji Mohammad Isham Jaafar, the minister of health, handed over the long service medals to the recipients. Brunei is a major oil and natural gas producer in Southeast Asia. Its substantial energy exports have generated relatively high per capita income for the nation and funds for a universal free healthcare system.

Xinhua 04 Jun 2025, 15:45 GMT+10 BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, June 4 (Xinhua) -- The Sultan of Brunei Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah safely returned to Brunei on Tuesday, according to a local media report. According to the local daily Borneo Bulletin on Tuesday, the Sultan returned to Brunei with his consort, Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha, after meeting Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and his wife, Wan Azizah Wan Ismail. According to Brunei's Prime Minister's Office, during the 46th ASEAN Summit and Related Meetings in Malaysia last month, the Sultan had been feeling tired and was therefore advised by the host country's medical experts to rest at the National Heart Institute in Kuala Lumpur for several days. Brunei is a Sultanate located in the northern part of Borneo Island, with 346,500 citizens in 2024. The country is a major oil and gas producer in Southeast Asia.

According to the office, the Brunei leader is in Malaysia to attend the 46th ASEAN Summit and Related Meetings on Monday and Tuesday. The office said the sultan has been feeling tired and therefore advised by the host country's medical experts to rest at the National Heart Institute in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for several days.
