Seminar honours poet Haldhar Nag
Sambalpur: Sambalpur: A two-day national seminar titled 'Haldhar - Srujana Aar Darshan' was inaugurated on Saturday at Barahaguda in Bargarh to honour Padma Shri awardee and Sambalpuri poet Haldhar Nag.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who attended the event, hailed Nag as a "symbol of Odisha's identity, expression, and emotion."

Organised jointly by Abhimanyu Sahitya Sansad, Ghess, and Krishna Vikash Educational Institute, the seminar brought together scholars, researchers, and literary enthusiasts from across the country to discuss the prolific works of the 'Lok Kabi Ratna.'
Several books and compilations based on Nag's writings were also released on the occasion.
Highlighting the power of regional languages, Pradhan said, "Haldhar Nag is not just a poet; he is a living embodiment of Sambalpuri culture and language. His writings reflect deep philosophy and truth in the purest form." He stressed the importance of promoting education in regional languages, adding, "Prime Minister Narendra Modi has described every Indian language as a national language. To take India back to the top globally, we must prioritise our languages.

Odisha higher education and culture minister Suryabanshi Suraj, along with local MPs and MLAs, also attended the event.
