Police seeking witnesses, info after cyclist seriously injured in Milton collision

(Twitter/Halton Regional Police) Police in Halton Region are looking for witnesses and information, as well as video footage, after a cyclist was seriously injured in a collision involving a motorist in Milton late Friday night. The crash happened at around 11:20 p.m. on July 4 on James Snow Parkway. Investigators say a 2025 a Toyota RAV4 operated by a 71-year-old Mississauga man was heading southbound on the parkway approaching Main Street East when he struck a cyclist who was also travelling southbound on James Snow. The cyclist suffered serious injuries and was taken to a trauma centre, they said in a news release. The motorist remained on scene and is 'cooperating with police.' Halton Regional Police Service's Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating. Ayman Alkassem, 52, of Mississauga, has been charged with one count of sexual assault but has been employed at other massage studios, including additional locations in Mississauga. Police believe there may be additional victims and have released a photo of the accused. It's reported that officers found the male victim with serious injuries after being assaulted by several unknown suspects and was taken to hospital by paramedics. Suspect number one has been described as a Black male, standing 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-7, aged 30 to 35 years old, with a muscular build, cornrows, a full beard, and wearing a plain white top and possibly blue jeans. A man is fighting for his life after he was shot while sitting in his parked vehicle outside an Oakville restaurant early Saturday. Halton Regional Police say the shooting occurred in the parking lot outside Hashtag Garden Modern Kitchen and Lounge on Cross Ave. – west of Trafalgar Rd. – shortly before 12:30 a.m. 'A suspect vehicle approached, and two male suspects exited and confronted the victim,' police said in a statement released Saturday, explaining the man sitting in his parked vehicle was shot during the interaction. Police said the shooters were both wearing dark clothing and face coverings And they were last seen fleeing the parking lot in a late-model grey Honda CR-V SUV. 'The victim is currently being treated in the hospital for serious, life-threatening injuries,' police said. Nobody else was injured. And no further details were immediately available. Police said the incident happened on Thursday when the dog was assisting an officer in finding discarded property in an outdoor area near Burlock Drive and Harvester Road. The force said the dog recieved medical attention and is expcted to fully recover. There were no other injuries. Two suspects were arrested in connection to the robbery.
