Well, in a recent interview, filmmaker Mohit Suri has revealed what exactly happened at that time. What did Mohit Suri say? In a candid interaction with Cyrus Broacha, the director shared that the singer had refused to sign a contract that would bind him with the music label. This action almost got him dropped from 'Aashiqui 2;' however, music director was the one who backed the singer and negotiated with the label. Recalling the incident, Suri shared that the head of the music company was "shouting" at him and Mithoon after Arijit's refusal. The director added that the label wanted to "hold back" and "control" the singer's talent, but the latter didn't agree to it. Mohit shared, "He was still not big because the songs hadn't released then. He refused to do it, and they were like, 'Why don't you replace him?' Me and Mithoon were like, 'No way, we'll take our songs back; you can get other songs; we are not replacing him.'" The 'Hamari Adhuri Kahani' helmer stated that Arijit should thank Mithoon for standing up for him even under pressure. The filmmaker even wondered if the singer knew this happened. Mohit further stated that he was just fighting for his music director.
