Strategic Decision-Making 12 exercise concludes

MUSCAT: The National Defence College at the Academy for Strategic and Defence Studies on Tuesday concluded its annual strategic exercise Decision-Making 12, conducted by participants of the 12th National Defence Course, representing various military, security and civil institutions of the state. The closing ceremony was held under the auspices of Vice Admiral Abdullah bin Khamis al Raisi, Chief of Staff of the Sultan's Armed Forces (SAF), in the presence of Maj Gen Hamid bin Ahmed Sakroon, Chairman of the Academy for Strategic and Defence Studies (ASDS). The ceremony featured a briefing on the exercise proceedings, followed by a visual presentation highlighting the activities, assigned roles, tasks of the participants and key lessons learned based on the hypothetical scenarios and stages of the exercise. Rear Admiral Ali bin Abdullah al Shidi, Commandant of the National Defence College (NDC) and Exercise Director, stated: 'Today, we conclude the Decision-Making 12 exercise, which served as a crucial intellectual and training milestone in preparing national leaders to address challenges in a complex regional and international environment. This year's exercise examined current regional and global developments, analysing their potential security, economic and political repercussions on the region." He added: 'This exercise aimed to enhance strategic thinking and decision-making skills during crises, deepen understanding of geopolitical dynamics, and reinforce the importance of joint planning, inter-institutional coordination, and role integration under exceptional circumstances." MUSCAT: Maj Gen Hamid bin Ahmed Sakroon, Chairman of the Academy for Strategic and Defence Studies (ASDS), on Tuesday inspected the progress and activities of the annual strategic exercise 'Decision-Making 12'. The chairman and several senior officers were briefed about the exercise. The participants gave an explanatory presentation about the exercise and how it interacts with international issues and various national scenarios. Meanwhile, several retired commanders from the Sultan's Armed Forces and other military and security units also viewed the strategic exercise 'Decision-Making 12'. MUSCAT: Maj Gen Hamid bin Ahmed Sakroon, Chairman of the Academy for Strategic and Defence Studies, received in his office at Bait Al Falaj on Sunday a delegation from the Naif Arab University for Security Sciences of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). The visiting delegation is headed by Dr Abdulmajeed Abdullah Albanyan, President of the University. During the meeting, the two sides discussed several matters of mutual interest, notably in academic fields. Within the framework of the visit, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the two sides pertaining to academic and scientific aspects. The MoU was signed by Maj Gen Hamid bin Ahmed Sakroon, Chairman of the Academy for Strategic and Defence Studies, and Dr Abdulmajeed Abdullah Albanyan, President of Naif Arab University for Security Sciences. The meeting and the signing ceremony were attended by several senior officers of the Academy for Strategic and Defence Studies. The Saudi delegation has also visited the National Defence College (NDC). Upon their arrival at the NDC, they were greeted by Rear Admiral Ali bin Abdullah al Shidi, Commandant of the National Defence College. The guests were briefed about the college and its strategic curricula. They also toured the NDC's departments and various facilities. Meanwhile, the delegation of the Naif Arab University for Security Sciences also visited the Joint Command and Staff College. Upon arrival to the college, the guests were received by Brigadier Saif bin Hamad al Yousefi, Commandant of the Joint Command and Staff College. The guests watched a presentation about the college, its curricula and educational and training programmes. They also toured the college's facilities and departments. — ONA

During the meeting, they exchanged cordial conversations and discussed matters of mutual interest, notably in academic fields. Then, the two sides signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on academic and scientific cooperation between the Academy for Strategic and Defence Studies and the National Defence University in Pakistan. The MoU was signed by Maj Gen Hamid bin Ahmed Sakroon, Chairman of the Academy for Strategic and Defence Studies (ASDS), and Lt Gen Babar Iftikhar, President of the National Defence University in Pakistan. The signing ceremony was attended by senior officers from the Academy for Strategic and Defence Studies, the Ambassador of Pakistan to Oman, and the Military Attaché at the Embassy of Pakistan in Muscat.
