What is known is that on Sunday, just after 5 p.m., Hamilton Police received a slew of 911 calls for shots fired in the area of 77 Governor's Road in Dundas. Dead at the scene was 25-year-old Zachary Shuman, of Dundas. His grey Dodge Ram pickup truck was found nearby. Cops say that, according to witnesses, a blue Ford Edge was spotted heading eastbound from the scene. So far, the vehicle has not been recovered, and police have not released a description of the suspected triggerman. Investigators are looking for this blue Ford Edge in connection with a murder on Sunday in Dundas. HPS 'There was a brief interaction in the Metro parking lot prior to the shooting,' Det.-Sgt. Sara Beck told reporters on Monday, adding that investigators are hoping to speak to a female witness who ran from the scene in the opposite direction of the Edge. Beck added that so far, cops don't know the details of the interaction, nor do they have any information on any possible relationship between the shooter and the victim. Neither lived at 77 Governor's Rd. The veteran detective would not say how many shots were fired or whether the murder was targeted. Nor would she discuss whether Shuman was known to police. 'The Hamilton Police Service extends our deepest condolences to Zachary's family and friends during this incredibly difficult time,' the service said in a statement. Investigators are now hunting the Ford Edge and its driver, along with a female witness, who they say was uninvolved in the deadly gunplay. She is described as having shoulder-length brown hair and wearing either red or orange shorts. Police are asking that she come forward. This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below. Police are also asking members of the public, who were in the area at the time to check their CCTV and dashcam footage between 4:45 p.m. and 5:10 p.m. on Sunday for anything suspicious. Shuman's slaying was the seventh murder of 2025 in the Hamilton area. Anyone with information is asked to call Det. Kimberly Tait, of the Homicide Unit, at 905-546-4863. Meanwhile, two individuals have been arrested in connection with an east-end Hamilton shooting earlier this month. Cops say that on July 22, around 1:50 a.m., officers responded to a shooting in the area of Barton St. E. and Fraser Ave. A victim sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment. The Hamilton Police Shooting Response Team assumed carriage of the investigation. Detectives have now charged Donald Zoschke, 42, and Jessica Fair, 31 — both of Hamilton — with multiple offences. Zoschke was allegedly in possession of a loaded 9mm handgun and a large amount of methamphetamine and cocaine when he was arrested. Bail was opposed. Detectives believe this shooting was a targeted event related to a dispute between the individuals involved. bhunter@ @HunterTOSun Golf World Celebrity Wrestling World

25-year-old man killed in Dundas shooting, police search for suspect
Hamilton police are searching for the person who they say shot and killed a 25-year-old Dundas man in a parking lot Sunday evening. Just after 5 p.m., police responded to multiple calls to the area beside an apartment building at 77 Governors Rd. They found Zachary Shuman and he was declared deceased, said Sgt. Sarah Beck at a news conference Monday. "The Hamilton Police Service extends our sincerest and deepest sympathies and condolences to Zachary's family and friends during this incredibly difficult time," Beck said. Shuman's grey, Dodge Ram pickup truck was parked in the lot. His family has asked for privacy at this time, said Beck. Witnesses saw a blue Ford Edge SUV leaving the scene and neither it nor the driver has been found, Beck said. Shortly before the shooting, the drivers of the vehicles interacted at a Metro parking lot down the street, at 15 Governors Rd., said Beck. Police don't know the nature of the interaction, or if Shuman knew the driver of the Ford Edge, Beck said. They also don't know what the Ford Edge driver looks like or why the two vehicles were in either parking lot. Beck wouldn't say how many times Shuman was shot and police haven't found the gun used. Police have been canvassing the area, interviewing witnesses and collecting videos. Beck said there's been "a lot of cooperation" and tips coming in. They're asking anyone with information about the driver or Ford Edge or who have CCTV or dashcam footage of the area between 4:45 and 5:10 p.m. on Sunday to contact investigators or Crime Stoppers. They're also looking for a woman who may have witnessed the shooting and was seen running from the scene, said Beck. She's described as having shoulder length brown hair and wearing either orange or red shorts.
