Andhra CM Naidu visits Kuppam; announces completion of Handri Neeva irrigation project this year
TIRUPATI: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu announced that the Handri Neeva Sujala Sravanthi (HNSS) lift irrigation extension project, taken up at a cost of Rs 3,890 crore in a single phase, is now nearing completion. Irrigation water will reach the last acre in Kuppam within this year, bringing a long-awaited boost to agriculture in the region, he said. Taking part in Praja Vedika in his Kuppam Assembly constituency on Wednesday, Naidu emphasised that development works worth Rs 1,292 crore are currently underway in it. He highlighted that a State-wide campaign is in progress to ensure all highways are made pothole-free. The Chief Minister said four companies have signed MoUs with the government to implement skill-training programmes for Kuppam youth. Additionally, agreements have been finalised for industrial investments amounting to Rs 1,617 crore, the projects are expected to catalyse job creation and regional growth. A major technological medical support platform, the AI-powered 'Digital Nerve System' developed in collaboration with Tata Group, will be introduced in Kuppam to enhance rural healthcare. The system is designed to connect remote villagers to super-specialist doctors virtually from their homes, with tangible results expected within the next three months, he said. As part of welfare initiatives, Naidu distributed newly sanctioned social security pensions to 3,041 beneficiaries. Under the upgraded Deepam 2.0 scheme, 1,000 women received free LPG gas cylinders, and Naidu proudly declared that every household in Kuppam constituency now has access to cooking gas.

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu unveils ₹4,800- crore action plan for development of Kuppam constituency
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday unveiled a ₹4,800-crore action plan for comprehensive development of the Kuppam constituency that he represents in the Legislative Assembly. 'This will transform Kuppam into a model town and a vibrant hub for solar energy, connectivity, and rural development,' Mr. Naidu said while addressing a public meeting as part of the 'Suparipalanalo Tholi Adugu' programme, at Tummisi village, near Kuppam. Air connectivity Recalling his more than three decades of inseparable bond with the Kuppam region, Mr. Naidu said that plans were afoot to construct a new airport in Kuppam with an investment of ₹850 crore, which 'will contribute to the key growth of the region.' Rejecting the criticism of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) over land acquisition for the project, he reiterated that those who part with their lands would be provided suitable compensation. Road widening Mr. Naidu asserted that the modernisation of the Kuppam Railway Station and development of a four-lane highway from Palamaneru to Krishnagiri (in Tamil Nadu) would be expedited. 'The Kuppam-Hosur road widening will usher in phenomenal development of the Kuppam constituency with excellent connectivity to Chennai, Bengaluru, and Kolar. Kuppam has already emerged as a center for inter-State connectivity,' Mr. Naidu said. Solar power Reiterating the government's move to give a big push to the solar energy sector, he said that under the PM Surya Ghar scheme, rooftop solar panels would be set at all the houses in Kuppam. The panels would be installed free of cost for the SC/ST households, while a 40% subsidy would be offered for the Backward Classes. 'Every household will be made power self-sufficient. Solar energy will also be provided to the agriculture sector,' he added. Mr. Naidu pledged continuous drinking water supply to Kuppam this year by completing the Handri Neeva Sujala Sravanthi (HNSS) branch canal to the region at a cost of ₹85 crore, while the total investment on the project would be ₹3,980 crore. The Chief Minister also referred to the plans such as development of road and temples, promotion of dairy sector in Kuppam to take milk production to 10 lakh litres per day, and 'Brand Kuppam' initiative for local products.

Development works worth ₹143 crore inaugurated in Annamayya district
Annamayya district witnessed significant development in the last year after the coalition government came to power, said Minister for Transport, Youth Affairs and Sports Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy, on Wednesday. The Minister inaugurated as many as 1,377 developmental works worth ₹143.81 crore, at a meeting held in the Collectorate, besides laying the foundation for 255 new initiatives amounting to ₹82 crore. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Ramprasad Reddy highlighted the major achievements in Annamayya district, which included the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission, the launching of tap water supply to every household, and the reconstruction of the Annamayya project wall, which was washed away in the 2019 floods in Rajampeta Assembly constituency. Referring to the launch of the 'Deepam-2' initiative, which provides three free LPG cylinders annually to women beneficiaries, and enhanced social pension delivery that reaches 64 lakh beneficiaries, the Minister said that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu was a visionary relentlessly working for the upliftment of the downtrodden. The Minister highlighted the State government's efforts to supply free sand and upgrade rural infrastructure, such as CC roads in every village, and expansion of roads built by Roads and Buildings Department (R&B) in all panchayats. He said that the pending works of the 'Handri Neeva Sujala Sravanthi' project would be completed soon, and the Srinivasapuram reservoir, which envisaged water supply to Rayachoti constituency, would commence its operations shortly. Collector Sridhar Chamakuri, meanwhile, said that the government was committed to addressing the issues faced by the mango farming community in Annamayya district. Senior officials of various departments also took part in the meeting.

Land acquisition for SHLC soon: Anam
Nellore: Endowments Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy has said that as part of the initiative in completing the irrigation projects, the government has decided to start land acquisition related to Somasila High Level Canal (SHLC) very soon. Addressing a press conference at his camp office here on Sunday, the Minister disclosed that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has ordered the Chief Secretary to release funds for SHLC land acquisition in the recent Cabinet meeting. He said if SHLC is completed, farmers of Atmakur constituency will have enough water for both agriculture operations and drinking water purpose in the coming days. Alleging that the previous government totally neglected irrigation projects, Anam said that it was Chief Minister Naidu, who is giving top priority to complete pending projects in the State. As part of this initiative, Handri Neeva Sujala Sravanthi works came to completion and water will be released for irrigation to Kuppam constituency, represented by the CM, by ending of this year. The Minister stated that he witnessed water being released hardly to 1.8 lakh acres during his 45-year-long political journey, but for the first time in the history of Nellore district, water was released for 5.24 lakh acres during second crop in the erstwhile Nellore district. He analysed that apart from 22 tmcft of water allocated for two lakh acres in delta area, 16 tmcft for 1.64 lakh acres in non-delta areas from Somasila reservoir. Another 16 tmcft from Telugu Ganga Project for 36,000 acres in Venkatagiri, Sullurpet and Gudur constituencies in the erstwhile Nellore district and 1.24 lakh acres in Srikalahasti and Sullurpet constituencies and 10 tmcft of water for Tirupati and Srikalahasti town for drinking water purpose. On this occasion, Minister Anam has distributed Rs 37 lakh to 22 beneficiaries under CMRF in Atmakur constituency.

Release of water from HNSS project on July 10, assures CM
1 2 Tirupati: Chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu inspected the progress of the Handri Neeva Sujala Sravanthi (HNSS) works at Chayapuram village in Uravakonda assembly constituency at Anantapur district and assured the people that waters from the HNSS project will be released on July district collector Dr Vinod Kumar briefed the CM on the status and progress of the HNSS works a public meeting held later, Chandrababu Naidu said state govt was spending Rs 3,783 crore on canal lining and widening works linked to the HNSS project stretching over 554 km in Phases 1 and 2 of the project. The CM blamed the previous govt for halting the works for five years and affirmed that the NDA govt has resumed and expedited the works. He emphasized that once Polavaram–Banakacharla is completed, droughts will become a thing of the past in Rayalaseema, and every acre in the state will receive water."On March 11, 1996, I had laid the foundation stone for Handri-Neeva in Uravakonda constituency. This was a dream project of our beloved leader NT Rama Rao, who had initiated it when Rayalaseema was barren. He believed that even though only surplus Krishna River water was allocated, Andhra Pradesh could use that to its benefit. NTR brought in projects like Handri-Neeva, Galeru, Nagari, and Telugu Ganga to transform the region. After I became CM, I implemented several initiatives for Rayalaseema. I resolved to change the face of this region. Farmers here used to grow peanuts with great difficulty, sometimes only two harvests in ten years. I compensated them for crop losses and remember the days of severe drought when we even brought fodder from the coastal regions to save livestock," CM Naidu completion, Phase 1 will provide irrigation for 1,98,000 acres—77,094 in Kurnool, 2,906 in Nandyal, and 1,18,000 in Anantapur districts. Phase 2 will cover 4,04,500 acres: 33,617 in Anantapur, 1,93,383 in Sri Sathya Sai, 37,500 in Kadapa, and 1,40,000 in Chittoor districts. These lands will be suitable for horticulture, improving farmer incomes.
