70% of respondents in India identify fast AI ecosystem as top GenAI-related security risk: Survey
New Delhi [India], May 21 (ANI): About 70 per cent of organisations in India view the fast-moving AI ecosystem as the most concerning GenAI security risk, followed by lack of integrity (66 per cent) and trustworthiness (55 per cent), according to a survey by Thales having expertise in cyber and digital space. The 2025 Thales Data Threat Report results reveal a major focus on AI's transformative impact, especially GenAI, which relies heavily on high-quality, sensitive data for functions like training, inference, and content generation. Thales' report on the latest data security threats, trends, and emerging topics was based on a survey conducted by S&P Global Market Intelligence 451 Research of over 3,100 IT and security professionals in 20 countries across 15 industries. 'The fast-evolving GenAI landscape is pressuring enterprises to move quickly, sometimes at the cost of caution, as they race to stay ahead of the adoption curve,' said Eric Hanselman, Chief Analyst at S&P Global Market Intelligence 451 Research. 'Many enterprises are deploying GenAI faster than they can fully understand their application architectures, compounded by the rapid spread of SaaS tools embedding GenAI capabilities, adding layers of complexity and risk,' added Hanselman. Data breaches showed a modest decline, though the threats remain elevated. While data breaches remain a significant concern, their frequency has slightly decreased over the past few years. In 2021, 56 per cent of surveyed enterprises worldwide reported experiencing a breach, but that figure dropped to 45 per cent in 2025. Additionally, the percentage of respondents reporting a breach within the last 12 months has fallen from 23 per cent in 2021 to just 14 per cent in 2025. In India, 11 per cent of respondents reported experiencing a data breach recently. Globally, malware continues to lead as the most prevalent threat, maintaining its top position since 2021. Phishing climbed to second place, overtaking ransomware, which now ranks third. Regarding the most concerning threat actors, external sources dominate--hacktivists hold the top spot, followed by nation-state actors. While still significant, human error has dropped to third, down one position from the previous year. While this year's survey results indicate improvements in security posture, much more is needed to elevate operational data security to fully support the capabilities of emerging technologies such as GenAI and pave the way for future innovations, Thales said in conclusion. Fast-moving ecosystem a top GenAI-related risk for Indian enterprises: Thales study
NEW DELHI: Nearly 70% of surveyed enterprises in India find that the fast-moving ecosystem of artificial intelligence (AI) is a top GenAI-related security risk, according to the findings of a survey conducted by French aerospace, defence and cybersecurity firm Thales . The innovative use cases and applications of GenAI are rapidly cropping up across industries, and at the same time, GenAI-driven cyber attacks are on the rise which is making it burdensome for companies to build and implement security measures that can keep pace with the evolving threat landscape. Other risks include a lack of integrity (66%) and trustworthiness (55%), Thales said in a report on Tuesday. 'The fast-evolving GenAI landscape is pressuring enterprises to move quickly, sometimes at the cost of caution, as they race to stay ahead of the adoption curve,' said Eric Hanselman, chief analyst at S&P Global Market Intelligence 451 Research. 'Many enterprises are deploying GenAI faster than they can fully understand their application architectures, compounded by the rapid spread of SaaS tools embedding GenAI capabilities, adding layers of complexity and risk,' Hanselman added. Nonetheless, 72% of respondents in India are investing in GenAI-specific security tools, with 16% using newly allocated budget, as per the findings. 'Notably, security for generative AI has quickly risen as a top spending priority, securing the second spot in ranked-choice voting, just behind cloud security,' Thales said, adding that this shift underscores the growing recognition of AI-driven risks and the need for specialised defences to mitigate them. 'The clock is ticking on post-quantum readiness. It's encouraging that three out of five organisations are already prototyping new ciphers, but deployment timelines are tight and falling behind could leave critical data exposed,' said Todd Moore, global vice president (data security products), Thales, said. 'Even with clear timelines for transitioning to PQC algorithms, the pace of encryption change has been slower than expected due to a mix of legacy systems, complexity, and the challenge of balancing innovation with security,' Moore said.

Hanselmans receive Will Koch Indiana Tourism Leadership Award
HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – The Dubois County Visitors Center (DCVC) shared in February that back in October 2024 the Hanselman family, owners of Hanselmans Incorporated, Schnitzelbank Restaurant and Catering, Hampton Inn and Klubhaus61, were recipients of the Will Koch Indiana Tourism Leadership Award. Officials with the Indiana Destination Development Corporation (IDDC) explain the Will Koch Indiana Tourism Leadership Award is presented annually and is the highest tourism honor given by the state. The award is named for the late Will Koch, long-time owner and president of Holiday World and Splashin' Safari. Remarkable Women: Jennifer Parker The IDDC explains Betty and Larry Hanselman started out with a tavern and a dance hall in 1960 and 'laid the foundation' for a tourism hub in Jasper. Co-owned by Betty and Larry's children, Hanselmans Incorporated now features the No. 1 Hampton Inn in Indiana and a full service event center in Klubhaus61, with the Schnitzelbank Restaurant and Catering as the centerpiece. Officials with the IDDC say the Hanselmans credit the Koch family for 'sparking tourism in the area and creating an environment that allowed them to build their business and contribute to Indiana's tourism industry to the extent that they do today.' New pilot program at VHS serving veterans 'The Hanselman family eats, sleeps, and celebrates tourism in all of their different endeavors and it is truly remarkable,' said Whitney Lubbers, Executive Director of Visit Dubois County. The IDDC says nominations for the Will Koch Indiana Tourism Leadership Award are submitted by community leaders and members of Indiana's travel, tourism and hospitality industry.
