Iconic rock band makes cryptic statement, then abruptly cancels all tour dates. Why?

Change your fall plans. That classic rock concert you had on your calendar is not happening, folks. We're talking about the Steve Miller Band, which has canceled all dates of its American tour, which was slated to kick off next month in Upstate New York. Among the 31 stops nixed, a considerable chunk were in Florida. Before stops in St. Augustine and Estero, the 'Fly Like an Eagle' singer was set to hit Hard Rock Live near Hollywood Oct. 5, and move on to Tampa. The reason? Force majeure. Aka Mother Nature. 'The combination of extreme heat, unpredictable flooding, tornadoes, hurricanes and massive forest fires make these risks for you our audience, the band and the crew unacceptable,' said the band's social media statement, explaining the abrupt move. Gen-Xers and older may be the most disappointed by this news. The lead singer, 81, is responsible for such evergreen hits as 'The Joker,' 'Jet Airliner,' 'Take the Money and Run' and many more cool oldies. Will Miller and his crew ever be back to grace stages again? Here's to hoping. 'Don't know where, don't know when… We hope to see you all again,' the statement concluded. 'Wishing you all peace, love and happiness. Please take care of each other.' At least disappointed ticketholders don't need to do anything beside wallow in grief and watch grainy YouTube videos from the '80s. Refunds will reportedly be issued to the original method of payment used at time of purchase, as soon as funds are received from the event organizer. So check your credit card bill.

Brendan Allen tells Marvin Vettori to 'grow up,' recalls casino brawl ahead of UFC 318

Brendan Allen shares his side of the story. NEW ORLEANS – Brendan Allen and Marvin Vettori are set to run things back this Saturday, although officially it will be the first time they meet. The two UFC middleweight contenders clash on the preliminary card of UFC 318 (pay-per-view, ESPN, ESPN+), which takes place at Smoothie King Center in New Orleans. The two men have plenty of history – a failed booking in April 2024 and a brawl after a PFL event last August. Speaking to reporters just days away from their bad-blood bout, Allen (24-7 MMA, 12-4 UFC) recalled his viral fight with Vettori (19-7-1 MMA, 9-6-1 UFC) on the casino floor of the Hard Rock in Hollywood, Fla. "Basically I was there with my wife and some friends and teammates. We were supporting teammates for PFL, and it was time to go," Allen said on Wednesday at UFC 318 media day. "I was leaving, and I heard people the whole night say he was looking for me, and my response was always, 'I'm not hard to find. I'm pretty easy to find.'" Allen exited the Hard Rock Live venue and into the hotel's casino, and that's when he first saw Vettori, who was getting aggressive with UFC light heavyweight Tuco Tokkos – Allen's friend and teammate. "On the way out of the door of the arena and into the Hard Rock (casino), I look and my friend Tucco is getting swung on by Marvin," Allen said. "At first he's telling him, like you could see him do this (putting up his hands) like, 'Calm down, chill. We're not doing that.'" According to Allen, one of his teammates pushed back Vettori, and that's when Allen rushed his rival. However, there were plenty of people present, and he was held back before he could get to Vettori "He ends up somehow creeping around the crowd and coming back behind me, and obviously there's 40, 50 people, and I lose track of him, and people are grabbing me," Allen said. "Lucky, he goes to swing around me and my boy Tuco smacks his hand as he's swinging at me, and my boy Tuco ends up hitting me because of the force and everything." Allen claims Vettori circled back around for a second shot, and that's when the most viral angle of the brawl began. In the video, you could see UFC lightweight Michael Johnson, who also competes at UFC 318, get the crowd to make space, setting up an impromptu arena for Allen and Vettori, who were left standing across each other. "He's looking at me dead in my eyes, as you can see from the camera angles," Allen explained. "... He's looking at me in my eyes, he puts his hands up, and what do you do? You walk away, and you're a b*tch, or you walk over there and hit him? I walked over there and hit him." Allen is not looking to extend his beef with Vettori beyond Saturday. He'd be more than willing to squash their differences as he sees the feud as childish. "It's like grow up, man," Allen said. "I'm almost 30 years old, and I have all those kids over there. I'm not trying to act stupid, and that was the whole point. Apparently he got mad at me because I said one of his fights was sh*t. It was like, 'Man, it takes two to fight. So if I called your fight sh*t, it's both of you guys. It's not just one.' I've had sh*t fights. If I'm saying it to me as a fighter, imagine how many other people you're going to hear it from. If that's what you got mad at, alright, bro."

Founding Guitarist of Cult '70s Band Dies at 81—Set for Rock Hall of Fame

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. A legendary guitarist behind some of the most enduring hits of the 1970s has died, just months before his band is set to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Mick Ralphs, the British musician who co-founded Mott the Hoople and Bad Company, has died at the age of 81. His passing was announced Monday via a statement on Bad Company's official website. No specific details about the cause of death were disclosed, though Ralphs had been bedridden since suffering a stroke in 2016, shortly after his final performance with Bad Company at London's O2 Arena. Born in Herefordshire, England, in 1944, Ralphs began playing blues guitar as a teenager. He co-founded the Doc Thomas Group in 1966, which would later become Mott the Hoople. The band found commercial success in the early 1970s after David Bowie produced and penned their hit All the Young Dudes. Ralphs left the group in 1973, soon after their breakthrough, and went on to form Bad Company. That band—featuring Free vocalist Paul Rodgers, Free drummer Simon Kirke, and former King Crimson bassist Boz Burrell—would go on to become one of the defining acts of the arena rock era. Ralphs helped shape their sound as lead guitarist and songwriter. That same record included the Ralphs-penned hit Can't Get Enough, and he co-wrote the band's 1975 hit Feel Like Makin' Love with Rodgers. "Our Mick has passed—my heart just hit the ground," Rodgers said in a statement. "He was my friend, my songwriting partner, an amazing and versatile guitarist who had the greatest sense of humour. "Our last conversation a few days ago we shared a laugh but it won't be our last. There are many memories of Mick that will create laughter. Condolences to everyone who loved him especially his one true love, Susie. I will see you in heaven." Ralphs is survived by his wife, Susie Chavasse, two children, and three step-children. Kirke called him "a dear friend, a wonderful songwriter, and an exceptional guitarist." Ralphs will be posthumously honored this November when Bad Company are inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. According to Rolling Stone, earlier this year, Ralphs had sent an email to Billboard expressing his happiness with the band finally being inducted into the Hall of Fame: "I am elated and think that Bad Company's induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame is fantastic!"
