Notre Dame Impact Players for 2025: No. 50 Charles Jagusah
Notre Dame Impact Players for 2025: No. 50 Charles Jagusah originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Notre Dame is now 50 days away from kicking off the 2025 season against the Hurricanes down in Hard Rock Stadium. The Irish will be relying on some impact players to get them through the home opener as well as getting them back to another run at the National Championship. I broke down who I believe will be the top 50 impactful players for Notre Dame this season. Let's begin this countdown to kickoff with my No. 50 most impactful player, right guard Charles Jagusah. Now, I know what you're thinking. How can Jagusah be an impactful player for the Irish this season when he just broke his arm and is out for an undisclosed amount of time? Fair point. However, last season, it was unlikely that the 6-7 330 pound redshirt freshman was going to step in and start at left tackle in the national title game, but it happened. Whenever Jagusah returns to the lineup this season, he will have to make his presence felt. What He Brings To The Table Jagusah a very long and athletic player that possesses a lot of strength as a run and pass blocker. At 6-7 330 pounds, he was projected to be their biggest lineman in the starting lineup. We've seen Jagusah's ability as a pass protector in the national title game as he went up against the likes of JT Tuimoloau who is now with the Indianapolis Colts and Jack Sawyer who is now a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Unfortunately, he hasn't been able to stay healthy during his time in South Bend. Jagusah tore his pectoral muscle in the first week of fall camp ahead of the 2024 season. Fast forward to this summer, last week it was announced that he broke his arm in a freak ATV accident while celebrating the Fourth of July. Jagusah's timeline to return is uncertain. What Is His Impact? What is certain, is that offensive line coach Joe Rudolph and offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock will need him to step up and play to his potential at some point in the 2025 season whether that be in October, November, December or January. Notre Dame is projected to play another 14 plus game season and will need all hands on deck to return them to the National Championship stage. If Jagusah is able to return healthy and is ready to step back into the starting lineup, he'll play a big role in this unit reaching their ceiling. Notre Dame's offensive line has the potential to be a Joe Moore Award finalist, if not winner, in 2025. Add in the fact that they'll be breaking in a first time starting quarterback, Jagusah's performance when he returns will be a major key in offensive success. They have viable and more than capable options for his replacement until he's ready to return, but Jagusah has arguably the highest ceiling of any player in that room. His potential and talent is what make him my No. 50 most impactful player for Notre Dame's 2025 Breakdown Content 2025 Commit Rankings - Offense2025 Commit Rankings - Defense——————— Become a premium Irish Breakdown member, which grants you access to all of our premium content and our premium message board! Notre Dame Impact Players For 2025: No. 47 Guerby Lambert
Notre Dame Impact Players For 2025: No. 47 Guerby Lambert originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Notre Dame is now 47 days away from kicking off the 2025 season against the Hurricanes down in Hard Rock Stadium. The Irish will be relying on some impact players to get them through the home opener as well as getting them back to another run at the National Championship. I broke down who I believe will be the top 50 impactful players for Notre Dame this season. Let's continue this countdown to kickoff with my No. 47 most impactful player, offensive lineman Guerby Lambert. The Fighting Irish offensive line is in an interesting position heading into fall camp. There are several options to replace injured right guard Charles Jagusah and there are still some players returning from injury. Lambert, a highly touted offensive line recruit from the 2024 class is one of those players. He's yet to see the field in any meaningful minutes and only played in three games offensively last season for Notre Dame, but Lambert's return to health and emergence in fall camp may shake some things up for offensive line coach Joe Rudolph. What He Brings To The Table First and foremost, Lambert has elite size for the collegiate level that has yet to be utilized in the Irish offense. The Boston native measures in at 6-7 341 pounds and is one of the biggest players on the roster. He has a massive frame and his on the field strength doesn't take away from his athleticism as a pass protector. Lambert has extremely long arms which allows him to anchor multiple styles of edge rushers. He drives through contact well and plays with powerful leg drive. Coming out of high school, he was still a work in progress technically but his physical tools have allowed him to grow in his first year in South Bend. Lambert has good lateral quickness, exceptional size and is very athletic. Lambert's biggest question is his return to health. He was held off the field last year to retain his redshirt heading into the 2025 season. This past spring, he was expected to make some noise along the offensive line but an injury sidelined him for the second part of spring ball. According to head coach Marcus Freeman, Lambert is expected back in fall camp. What Is His Impact? At the absolute bare minimum, Lambert provides some much needed depth along the offensive line. Last season, Notre Dame had to replace it's left tackle, left guard, center and right guard and moments throughout the season. Ideally, that doesn't happen again this fall, but this is football and whoever the No. 2 or No. 3 guy is on the depth chart has to be ready when his name is called. Rudolph did a spectacular job last season of preparing his entire room for Saturdays, not just the first team. Depending on Lambert's health when he returns, he might make a push to enter the starting lineup in a few different scenarios. First, he could compete with Sullivan Absher who is expected to begin taking first team reps when fall camp begins. Second, left tackle Anthonie Knapp could move inside to right guard, where many believe he projects the best, and start Lambert out at left tackle. Lambert had a lot of hype coming into South Bend and was expected to be the next stellar offensive lineman produced by 'O Line U'. He saw limited action as a true freshman, and it was mostly in mop up minutes. However, based on his athletic ability, size and potential, Lambert has the opportunity to force his way onto the field with a strong fall camp. At the bare minimum, he's an extremely valuable and extremely talent depth piece who could very well see some meaningful minutes on Saturdays this fall. That's why Lambert is my No. 47 most impactful player for Notre Dame this Breakdown Content 2025 Commit Rankings - Offense2025 Commit Rankings - Defense——————— Become a premium Irish Breakdown member, which grants you access to all of our premium content and our premium message board! Notre Dame Impact Players For 2025: No. 46 Noah Burnette
Notre Dame Impact Players For 2025: No. 46 Noah Burnette originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Notre Dame is now 46 days away from kicking off the 2025 season against the Hurricanes down in Hard Rock Stadium. The Irish will be relying on some impact players to get them through the home opener as well as getting them back to another run at the National Championship. I broke down who I believe will be the top 50 impactful players for Notre Dame this season. Let's continue this countdown to kickoff with my No. 46 most impactful player, North Carolina transfer kicker Noah Burnette. Advertisement Transfer kickers have become a staple of Notre Dame's special teams over the past couple of seasons. In 2023, they picked up transfer kicker Spencer Shrader who set a Notre Dame record for making two 50 plus yard field goals in the same game. South Carolina transfer Mitch Jeter drilled the game winner against Penn State in the Orange Bowl which sent the Irish onto the National Championship game. This year, it's Burnette's turn to cement his name in Fighting Irish lore. What He Brings To The Table Burnette is a a quality kicker who spent his first three seasons kicking for the Tar Heels. He was a mid-year transfer who spent the spring getting acclimated to special teams coach Marty Biagi and the Notre Dame special teams unit. Last season, he drilled 97.4% of his extra points going 38-39. His field goal kicking percentage took a hit in 2024 (71.4%) but was a 95% field goal kicker for North Carolina in 2023. Burnette had a rough kick in the jersey scrimmage and missed his first attempt in this years Blue Gold game, but the numbers don't lie, he's a pretty accurate kicker inside of 50 yards. Notre Dame struggled last season in the kicking game, in large part due to Jeter's midseason injury. The Irish finished the year ranked No. 128 in the country in field goal percentage (55.6) after missing 12 of their 27 field goal attempts throughout the season. Advertisement At North Carolina, Burnette kicked on some big stages including on the road against Florida State, Boston College (who Notre Dame will face on the road on November 1), at Minnesota, at Clemson and against Miami. It doesn't have quite the leg that Shrader has, and doesn't have the top level accuracy of a healthy Jeter, but his skillset should improve Notre Dame's kicking stats at the end of the season dramatically. What Is His Impact? Burnette's experience against upper level P4 opponents in the ACC gives him an advantage at Notre Dame. He's kicked against Pittsburgh, Miami, Boston College, Syracuse and NC State, all ACC opponents on Notre Dame's 2025 schedule. Outside of his on the field impact, Burnette will also have the opportunity to mentor incoming freshman kicker Erik Schmidt. The 6-2 Wisconsin native was the No. 1 rated kicker in the nation by 247Sports composite rankings. In high school, he specialized as a punter, but took on kickoff and place kicking duties his senior year. Schmidt will likely be Burnette's replacement in 2026 when he's out of eligibility, but he has a ways to go before he's ready to kick in big moments for the Irish. Burnette will have the opportunity to work with Schmidt for an entire season to help get him ready. Advertisement Players who have transferred to Notre Dame for their final year of eligibility have bought into the culture that Marcus Freeman is building and is leaving the program better than they found it. Burnette can make a significant impact on and off the field which is why I have him ranked as the No. 46 most impactful player for Notre Dame in 2025.
