KARACHI: The Pakistan Chemical Manufacturers Association (PCMA) has formally announced the staging of the Pakistan Chemical Expo 2025, a landmark event set to be held on June 25 and 26, 2025, at the Karachi Expo Centre. The announcement was made during a press conference here on Monday, where senior representatives from PCMA and the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) highlighted the significance of the upcoming event for the country's industrial and economic future. Addressing the media, Chairman PCMA Haroon Ali Khan described the expo as a major milestone for Pakistan's rapidly expanding chemical industry, calling it a dynamic platform to connect local and international stakeholders, industry leaders, investors, suppliers, and innovators. 'This expo reflects PCMA's commitment to positioning Pakistan as a competitive force in the global chemical economy. We believe it will catalyze new partnerships, enhance industrial innovation, and help advance our national chemical strategy,' he remarked. The event aims to showcase the full spectrum of Pakistan's chemical value chain, including petrochemicals, specialty chemicals, agrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, plastics, and allied sectors. It is expected to attract a diverse range of exhibitors and participants from both domestic and international markets, offering unparalleled opportunities for networking, investment exploration, knowledge-sharing, and technology exchange. Speaking on the occasion, President FPCCI Atif Ikram Sheikh emphasized the strategic importance of the chemical sector in Pakistan's economic landscape. He noted that if developed efficiently, the sector has the potential to substantially reduce the country's import bill and improve export competitiveness. 'This expo is not just an exhibition — it's a movement for industrial self-reliance, innovation, and sustainable growth,' he added. Senior Vice President FPCCI Saquib Fayyaz Magoon also addressed the gathering, underlining the PCMA's efforts to draw international attention to Pakistan's vast potential in the chemical industry. 'Our objective is to provide local manufacturers with a gateway to new markets, modern technologies, and valuable partnerships that can drive growth and innovation within the sector,' he stated. The two-day event will feature B2B matchmaking sessions, panel discussions, technical seminars, product exhibitions, and policy dialogues, designed to foster collaboration among chemical producers, regulatory authorities, research institutions, and investors. Organizers hope the expo will serve as a catalyst for both local and foreign investments, supporting Pakistan's drive toward industrial modernization and economic diversification. Chemical-makers for structural reforms, forward-looking policy framework

LAHORE: The Pakistan Chemical Manufacturers Association (PCMA) has formally expressed its observations regarding the Federal Budget 2025–26, calling for comprehensive structural reforms and a forward-looking policy framework to strengthen Pakistan's $16 billion chemical sector — a critical enabler of all manufacturing sectors including textiles, leather, Plastics, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, and packaging. PCMA Chairman Haroon Ali Khan, in his official statement, acknowledged positive budgetary like intent to revive Large Scale Manufacturing, taking notice of misuse of tax incentives for FATA/PATA which is adversely hurting the legitimate manufacturing business and elimination of ACDs. However, he expressed deep concern over the lack of a coherent policy framework for the chemical industry, noting that high energy costs, prolonged GST refund delays, excessive tax burden on legitimate businesses, frequent changes in Policy and misuse of Export Facilitating Scheme are deeply hurting the domestic industries providing raw materials to export oriented sectors such as textile chemicals, leather chemicals & resins etc. These impediments continue to hinder growth. He further added that elimination of 5th Schedule by 2030 will have devastating effects on local industry, especially Chemicals. The Association also expressed alarm over the expanded discretionary powers granted to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). Haroon Ali Khan emphasized the need for digital reforms and taxpayer facilitation before enforcing coercive measures that could harm business confidence. PCMA also urges the government to officially designate the chemical industry as a 'strategic sector', ensuring preferential land and utility access, and to establish a one-window platform for environmental and licensing approvals, along with national R&D support programmes. PCMA to arrange two-day Chemical Expo from June 25

LAHORE: The Pakistan Chemicals Manufacturers Association (PCMA) celebrates 10 years of dedicated service to the nation's chemical sector and the pre-launch ceremony of the Pakistan Chemical Expo 2025, scheduled for June 25th and 26th. Chairman PCMA Haroon Ali Khan said, 'Over the past ten years, PCMA has evolved into a strong institutional platform that represents the true potential of Pakistan's chemical industry. We envision positioning Pakistan's Chemical sector to achieve an export target of USD 3 Billion by the year 2035'. Renowned Industrialist and Patron in Chief PIAF Group, Mian Anjum Nisar graced the event as Chief Guest. Chairman PIEDMC Javed Iqbal, Senior Vice President PCMA Moazzam Rasheed, members of PCMA, Industrialists, Policy Makers, and people from Academia participated in the event. The Pakistan Chemical Expo 2025 is set to host international exhibitors, B2B meetings, and knowledge-sharing sessions. While talking on the occasion, Chief Guest Mian Anjum Nisar said it is an honour to join the Pakistan Chemical Manufacturers Association in celebrating a decade of exemplary service and impact. Over the past 10 years, PCMA has played a vital role in transforming Pakistan's chemical industry into a more structured, sustainable, and globally competitive sector. I congratulate PCMA and its members for their vision, resilience, and continued commitment to driving industrial excellence in Pakistan. Chairman PCMA Haroon Ali Khan urges the Government of Pakistan to accept the Chemical Industry as a Strategic Sector. He also presented 'Vision 2035' for the Pakistan Chemical Industry. He said that by 2035, our chemical industry should be able to establish a basic petrochemicals project in Pakistan, and we should be able to gain 50% self-reliance in API's and 25% self-reliance in Petrochemicals, Agrochemicals, Synthetic Fibers, Specialty Chemicals, and Mineral-based Chemicals. We are hopeful of achieving these and the export target of 3 billion USD. But to get this, we have to establish relationships with international chemical associations, strong linkages between Industry and Academia, a trained and skilled workforce to support the chemical sector, and a fully equipped technical institute to provide turnkey chemical projects.
