Rumor Claims STAR WARS Series OBI-WAN KENOBI Second Season is In Development — GeekTyrant

Star Wars movies started out with a huge following. The first three films were gold, and a whole lot to live up to. Fans were a little let down by the prequel trilogy, which has had a later-found popularity, and the most recent trilogy was flat out disliked in most cases. The one-shot films and series have had some better luck, with hit or miss reviews, and if the most recent rumor is true, we are going to be seeing a second season of one of the shows that was thought to be limited to its original run. According to scooper Daniel Richtman, "A second season of Obi-Wan Kenobi is in development at Lucasfilm." No additional details were provided, but after The Acolyte split opinions and Skeleton Crew passed many people by, focusing on a fan-favorite character seems like a sure bet. At last October's L.A. Comic-Con, Obi-Wan actor Ewan McGregor took part in a Q&A with fans and confirmed that the studio was "exploring" ideas for more Obi-Wan Kenobi . The actor was said to have revealed his desire to wear Obi-Wan's Clone Wars armour and reunite with Hayden Christensen. Season 1 of Obi-Wan Kenobi is currently streaming on Disney+. Somehow, ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi' May Return For Season 2 On Disney Plus

Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney Plus's Star Wars offerings routinely are thrown up in the air when it comes to whether they'll get more seasons. The Mandalorian and Andor are done (Mando with its movie), The Acolyte was cancelled, The Book of Boba Fett is definitely dead. Who knows what happened with Skeleton Crew, a great show I'm positive few people even knew existed. The only confirmed show getting a season 2 is Ahsoka, which will likely air close to three years after season 1. But now there are some potential developments with the series not mentioned above, Obi-Wan Kenobi. A new report from insider Daniel Richtman says that season 2 of Obi-Wan Kenobi is in development at Lucasfilm. This is a show that aired in 2022, and it being 'in development would probably mean there would be 4-5 years between seasons, at least, because this is how Disney Star Wars works now. Obi-Wan Kenobi had a solid enough 81% score from critics but a much lower 61% score from fans, and it's one of those series that in hindsight most fans probably like even less. But its ratings were decent, and it's been well-documented that its stars Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen are itching to return for more. Here's McGregor back in October 2024, speaking about a potential season 2: Obi-Wan Kenobi One question is what exactly those stories would be and how they would fit in with existing canon, as some of those have been filled in with Dave Filoni's animated series. It also remains to be seen how Christensen could return as Vader, as would there be yet another interaction between the two characters before the events of A New Hope? It seems like all of this is stretching incredulity a bit (as were elements of season 1, like an entire arc about little Princess Leia. It was also implied that there could be a young Luke storyline later). As for Christensen, fans have really embraced his return to Star Wars, as it feels like redemption for him where at the time, his two movies were not terribly well-received. But appearing in Obi-Wan Kenobi in flashbacks and as Vader, and in an Ahsoka dream sequence, fans have enjoyed seeing him back. This remains a rumor, but as ever, it seems like Disney does not want to leave the Skywalker era in any meaningful capacity, short of what appears to be a single film in development, Dawn of the Jedi, which would go way back in time. But we'll see if that ever actually makes it out. Follow me on Twitter, YouTube, Bluesky and Instagram. Pick up my sci-fi novels the Herokiller series and The Earthborn Trilogy.
