Highway 402 now open after days long closure

A section of Highway 402 in Strathroy has reopened after being closed for two days. The westbound lanes were closed between Centre Road and Kerwood Road after a crash involving a transport truck led to a chemical leak. OPP Sgt. Ed Sanchuk told CTV News Thursday a passenger vehicle and a transport truck briefly collided, sending the truck carrying 45,000 litres of a corrosive chemical, into the ditch. The chemical was been identified as monochloroacetic acid, commonly used in industrial applications. 402 STRATHROY CLOSURE Hazmat crews are cleaning up a section of Highway 402 near Strathroy after a crash caused a transport truck to leak acid. Another person is in the process of being rescued, according to the Daily Mail. The incident occurred after methane ignited in a 'malfunction,' but a fire was not started, according to the outlet. Rescue boats rushed to the scene to rescue a man overboard and helicopters were observed flying over the vessel. The man was pinned between the dock and the boat.
