The suspect, a man in his 50s, was detained yesterday afternoon after arriving to give a statement at the MACC Terengganu office. A source revealed that initial investigations suggest the offences occurred between 2019 and 2023, involving manipulation of land plans and processing land-related matters for his children's benefit. Following the arrest, MACC Terengganu seized two plots of land in a district within the state, measuring around 9,000 and 6,000 square feet, for further investigation. Terengganu MACC director Hazrul Shazreen Abd Yazid confirmed the arrest, stating the case is being probed under Section 23(1) of the MACC Act 2009.

KUALA TERENGGANU: A civil servant was arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in Terengganu to assist investigations into alleged abuse of power involving several state land applications. Magistrate Iffah Nabihah Mohd Ishak issued a five-day remand order until Friday. A source said the male suspect, in his 50s, was detained around 2pm yesterday when he came to the MACC office in Terengganu to give a statement. "Initial investigations suggest that the suspect may have been involved in misconduct between 2019 and 2023, including altering land plans and managing several land-related processes in the state for the benefit of his children. "Following his arrest, MACC seized two plots of land located in a district in Terengganu, measuring 9,000 and 6,000 square feet respectively, as part of the investigation," the source said. Terengganu MACC director Hazrul Shazreen Abd Yazid confirmed the arrest when contacted. The case is being investigated under Section 23(1) of the MACC Act 2009.

(Bernama pic) PETALING JAYA : Two policemen have been remanded for seven days from today on suspicion of soliciting and accepting bribes of up to RM5,000 to cover up gambling and drug activities. The remand order against the duo, who work at a district police headquarters in Terengganu, was issued by a magistrates' court following an application by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission. Bernama quoted a source as saying an initial investigation found that the first suspect, in his 50s, is believed to have solicited and accepted a bribe of RM3,000 from an individual around August last year in return for not taking action on gambling and narcotics offences. The second suspect, in his 40s, was remanded on suspicion of soliciting and accepting a bribe of RM2,000 between December 2022 and May 2023 to avoid taking action on narcotics offences. 'Both are suspected of receiving bribes in cash and transactions to their bank accounts,' the source said. They were detained between 12.30pm and 2pm yesterday when they gave their statements at the Terengganu MACC office. Terengganu MACC director Hazrul Shazreen Abd Yazid confirmed the arrests.

The two men, stationed at a district police headquarters in Terengganu, were detained yesterday afternoon when they turned up to give statements at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) state office. According to sources, the first suspect, in his 50s, is believed to have received RM3,000 around August last year to avoid acting on gambling and narcotics activities. The second suspect, in his 40s, is suspected of soliciting and accepting RM2,000 in bribes between December 2022 and May 2023 to avoid taking action on narcotics-related offences. Both allegedly received the bribes in cash and through bank transfers. They have been remanded for seven days starting today to assist in investigations, following a remand order issued by Judge Mohd Zul Zakiqudin Zulkifli.
