‘America's stinkiest city': Smoke-filled NYC streets leave Indian vlogger stunned
Snapshots from video (nitishadvitiy) An Indian vlogger has sparked buzz on social media after posting a video from New York City, and calling it 'America's stinkiest city,' capturing thick, foul-smelling smoke rising from manholes at a busy intersection. In the clip, Nitish Advitiy films a typical NYC crosswalk where dense white smoke suddenly pours out from manholes in the middle of the street. While locals seem unfazed, pedestrians and vehicles carry on as usual, the scene struck many international viewers as unusual and unsettling. In a video posted on Instagram, Nitish captioned it "America's Stinkiest City" The video has sparked a wide range of reactions on social media. While some viewers found the situation amusing, others took a more critical stance, calling out what they see as double standards. Many pointed out that Western countries, particularly in the media, are quick to highlight hygiene and infrastructure problems in developing nations, yet often remain silent about similar issues in their own cities. The footage of smoke and foul odours coming from New York's manholes, they argued, is a clear example of the kind of problems that are overlooked when they happen in the West. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Scientists: Tinnitus? One went on to say, "Please tag this video to the President to show him the mirror." Another one added' "This looks so yucky," expressing the disgust. Before this Advitiy shared another video highlighting an experience in the US. In an Instagram reel, he expressed surprise at how his neighbours reacted after a nearby house caught fire. He observed that no one stepped out to check on the homeowner or offer help. While the fire department arrived quickly and handled the situation, he found the neighbours' lack of concern particularly noticeable.

Zoho's Sridhar Vembu's networth is Rs 50,000 crore, but says his biggest happiness lessons come from people who have almost zero wealth
The concepts of joy and sorrow often vary from one individual to another, shaped by personal experiences, mindsets, and life circumstances. Billionaire entrepreneur Sridhar Vembu recently expressed his views on this theme through a social media post on X, offering insight drawn from his observations and life lessons. He shared how, in his experience, those who endure extreme hardships frequently demonstrate greater hope, resilience, and strength than many who face fewer obstacles. According to him, these individuals manage to carry an infectious optimism despite their overwhelming difficulties. Rather than succumbing to bitterness, they greet adversity with smiles and often lift the spirits of others around them. Vembu emphasized that unhappiness can sometimes be rooted in self-centered thinking. In his view, happiness is not merely a reaction to favorable events but a deliberate mental choice—something that can be cultivated regardless of one's circumstances. He reflected on how his interactions with people living through severe hardship have deeply shaped his understanding of inner strength and joy. Their ability to remain cheerful despite the odds teaches him daily about courage, perspective, and the true essence of emotional well-being. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Is your tinnitus getting worse? Why Vivek Oberoi decided to move away from Bollywood as his main source of income
Once known for his breakout roles in films like Company and Saathiya, Vivek Oberoi is now more focused on financial spreadsheets than film scripts. After two decades in Bollywood , the actor has found himself more invested—literally and emotionally—in entrepreneurship . In a recent interview with CNBC-TV18, he opened up about his pivot from stardom to startups, revealing that he has raised a staggering $1 billion (approximately ₹8,500 crore) across 12 companies, two of which are already eyeing IPOs. In his conversation with CNBC-TV18, Vivek Oberoi shared that he eventually became disillusioned with the film industry. He felt that the system often prioritised familiarity over genuine talent, leaving him feeling stuck in a repetitive cycle that lacked creative empowerment. According to him, the collaborative spirit he sought was absent in the ecosystem. Rather than spiral into pessimism, he chose to redirect his energy and opened a new chapter in his life through entrepreneurship. From teenage side hustles to full-blown enterprises Vivek's entrepreneurial instincts took shape long before his cinematic debut. In his teenage years, he dabbled in voiceovers, emceeing, and even the stock market. By 19, he had launched a tech startup, which he successfully sold to a multinational firm by age 22. That early win, he said, gave him the confidence to balance both creative and commercial pursuits—eventually setting the foundation for his diversified business empire. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Scientists: Tinnitus? He openly acknowledged the substantial funding his ventures have attracted, stressing that raising capital isn't the challenge. What matters more to him is how that capital is deployed and how sustainable growth is ensured. For Vivek, the key lies in striking a balance — blending Silicon Valley's innovation with the financial prudence of a Marwari mindset. This philosophy appears to be paying off. Vivek currently oversees 12 businesses spanning tech, real estate, and retail, with an estimated personal net worth of ₹1,200 crore. Vivek Oberoi's ventures One of Vivek's standout ventures is Solitario, a diamond brand with 18 stores across India. His approach combines business acumen with storytelling—possibly a carryover from his cinematic days. Vivek credits much of his financial sensibility to his father, veteran actor Suresh Oberoi , who taught him the value of financial independence.

Pakistan in no rush to recognise Taliban government in Afghanistan, say officials
Pakistan is in no hurry to recognise the Afghan Taliban government, and any decision will be made keeping the country's interest in mind, officials here have said. The remarks came days after Russia became the first country to officially recognise the Taliban's rule. Moscow's decision, some observers feel, may be a prelude to other regional countries finally embracing the Taliban. However, officials in Pakistan told The Express Tribune newspaper that the decision of Russia was not a surprise, as Moscow for some time had indicated they would reconcile with the fact that the Taliban were now in charge and there was no other option but to accept their rule. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Is your tinnitus getting worse? Do this immediately (Watch) Hearing Magazine Undo The Russian decision also stems from the fact that greater engagement with the Taliban government would help address the terrorist threat and advance its geostrategic interests. "We, of course, will take a decision keeping in view our interest. I can tell you there is no hurry," said a Pakistani official when asked whether Islamabad would also recognise the Taliban rule. Live Events A source, however, did not rule out the possibility of Pakistan taking a more pragmatic approach if other regional players follow the Russian footsteps. At his weekly news briefing on Friday, Foreign Office spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan reacted cautiously to Moscow's decision, saying it was a matter between two sovereign states. In any case, the source said, Pakistan has a robust engagement with the Taliban ruled Kabul. "The de facto recognition is there," the source said. Pakistan has given no hints about officially recognising the Taliban government, but agreed to upgrade the diplomatic ties. Last month, after a trilateral meeting of Pakistan, Afghanistan and Chinese Foreign Ministers in Beijing, Islamabad and Kabul decided to elevate their diplomatic ties. Both sides are in a process to fulfil their responsibilities before formally appointing ambassadors in each other's capitals. China is thought to have played a key role in brokering the deal in the hope that greater engagement between Pakistan and Afghanistan would address security concerns. One of the reasons that Pakistan has not yet recognised the Taliban government is the unresolved issue of terrorist sanctuaries in Afghanistan . But the Afghan government recently took certain steps, which Pakistan thinks could make a difference. One major such move includes the Taliban government's crackdown on Afghan nationals who were joining the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). Sources said that it is in the Taliban's interest to address the security concerns of Pakistan and other neighbouring countries. Relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan have gradually improved since the visit of Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar to Kabul. Afghan Interim Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi is expected to travel to Islamabad later this month. He was to visit Pakistan last month, but the trip was delayed due to the Iran-Israel war. During his visit, the two sides would review bilateral ties and decisions taken when Dar was in Kabul in April, according to the report.
