Lainey Wilson makes time for love
Lainey Wilson believes it is essential to "dedicate" days to her fiance. The Somewhere Over Laredo singer is engaged to former NFL player Devlin 'Duck' Hodges, who is now a real estate agent, and the 33-year-old star knows it is important for them to carve out quality time for one another amid their busy schedules. Lainey told People magazine: "You have to definitely carve out the time. It has to be something that you're very aware of, and you're like, 'Okay, I've got a day off here in 10 days. I've got to dedicate that day to spend time with my person.' "And we both need that and deserve that, and it's always great. We just try to soak up those moments as best as we possibly can." The Whirlwind singer thinks their romance is "a lot different than a normal relationship" because of her touring schedule but Duck is her "best friend". She said: "He is one of the purest hearts and people that I have ever met. He is my biggest cheerleader. We don't really play by the rules... "We don't get to see each other all the time, and I do live a lot of my life on the road, so we're also kind of figuring it out as we go, which is fun." Lainey recently praised Duck for being "brave" enough to marry her, despite her busy lifestyle. Speaking on The Kelleigh Bannen Show on Apple Music Country, she said: 'He is a brave man. "First of all, anybody who is okay with this lifestyle and being in the business so much and being gone all the time, he was plucked from the sky for me. "Don't tell him I said that… We got to keep him humble.' The Heart Like a Truck hitmaker is known for wearing bell-bottoms but she won't be donning her trademark flares for their wedding. She said: 'I'm going to wear a dress. I hadn't done the whole dress shopping. "We haven't even picked a date or anything like that. We got some time, but I figured, you know what? I hadn't worn a dress for him yet, and I guess that would be the day to do it.' The former sportsman designed Lainey's engagement ring himself and she revealed he was inspired by jewellery she'd shown him very early in their relationship. She said: 'Years ago I was just joking and being like, 'Oh, check this out,' and he was like, 'Oh shoot'. "I think he started saving four years ago when we first started dating… But he went in and he designed it. He took a couple of the rings that I showed him years ago and put them all together and he outdid himself.'

His death in 2014 left Wilson's future in Nashville uncertain, but she refused to give up. In 2015, she met Mandelyn Monchick, who advocated for Wilson as a friend before officially becoming her manager and introduced Wilson to Aslan Freeman, now her bandleader." The exhibit will include stage wear, instruments, photographs, childhood memorabilia and more. Examples of items to be displayed include: The first tooled leather saddle Wilson used as a child.
