Nebraska lands expert predictions for top offensive tackle target

Nebraska football landed a series of expert predictions for class of 2026 four-star offensive tackle Claude Mpouma on Friday. On3's Sean Callahan, Steve Wilfong, and Bryan Munson put in the predictions, as the Huskers continued to gain momentum on the recruiting trail. Mpouma is set to make his decision on Monday at 5:00 p.m. CT. He is No. 127 overall player nationally, the No. 12 overall offensive tackle, and the third overall player in his class from the state of Illinois per the On3 Recruiting Rankings. He plays at Mount Carmel High School in Chicago, where his head coach is Jordan Lynch, a former Heisman Trophy finalist. The offensive tackle has visited the Huskers on multiple occasions. He took his first visit to Lincoln on November 2, 2024, and has visited twice since. Things can change quickly in recruiting. However, these predictions certainly are encouraging, as the Huskers look to finish out June strong. Find social media reactions to the predictions below. The Sporting News predicts Alabama's 2025 season, CFP fate in Year 2 under Kalen DeBoer

The 2025 college football season is just over two months away, and The Sporting News is among several national media outlets making its prediction for the Alabama Crimson Tide in Year 2 under coach Kalen DeBoer. Alabama finished 9-4 last season, hardly the worst start for a coach tasked with enormous expectations following the retirement of Nick Saban. But a stunning loss to Vanderbilt after the Crimson Tide's rollercoaster win over Georgia, followed by a pair of ugly losses down the stretch to Oklahoma and a Michigan team that was a shell of its 2023 self, left something of a sour taste to close 2024. DeBoer and offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb will have to break in a new quarterback in Ty Simpson, but Alabama has a lot of talent returning in 2025 -- particularly in the wide receiver room with Ryan Williams and Germie Bernard leading the way, and in the secondary with cornerbacks Zabien Brown and Domani Jackson, and safeties Keon Sabb and Bray Hubbard. The Crimson Tide also have an incoming freshman class that ranks in the top five in recruiting. Earlier this week, the Sporting News made its 12-team playoff predictions for the 2025 season. In the outlet's preseason projections, Alabama makes the College Football Playoff as the No. 7 seed and hosts a first-round playoff game against the Miami Hurricanes at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Per Bender: "Kalen DeBoer gets the Crimson Tide back in the College Football Playoff in his second season, and the Hurricanes are the at-large bid for the ACC. That means Carson Beck delivers as the new starting quarterback, and Mario Cristobal avoids a season-altering upset." A return trip to Tuscaloosa would mark Beck's second game in Bryant-Denny Stadium in as many seasons. As Georgia's starter in 2023 and '24, Beck went 0-2 against Alabama, including last year's 41-34 thriller on Sept. 28 that was clinched by a game-saving interception from the freshman Brown. For its part, Miami looked to be a lock for the ACC Championship Game last year under Heisman Trophy finalist and No. 1 overall NFL draft pick Cam Ward, but the Hurricanes lost its regular season finale in an upset at Syracuse. The Sporting News sees Alabama taking on defending national champion Ohio State in the Rose Bowl on Jan. 1, 2026. That means a matchup against former 5-star Crimson Tide QB commit Julian Sayin. "The Buckeyes are in the Rose Bowl for the second straight season as the Big Ten champion, and Alabama would be a formidable matchup. Julian Sayin -- who decommitted from Alabama after Nick Saban retired -- would be the center of attention in this matchup assuming he wins the starting job for the Buckeyes." Bender sees Alabama falling to the Buckeyes in Pasadena as part of his overall prediction that Ryan Day's team will return to the national championship game for a second year in a row; this time in a matchup against Texas at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami on Jan. 20. Alabama football schedule 2025 Alabama opens the 2025 season against Florida State at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee on Aug. 30. Kickoff was announced earlier this spring for 2:30 p.m. CT. The game will be televised on ABC. Here's the rest of the 2025 Alabama football schedule with updated start times. All times Central. Washington's Moll twins make history yet again as Bowerman semifinalists

Hana and Amanda Moll have to be used to making history at this point. Between the two of them, the twin sisters have set practically every high school and college record in the pole vault over the last three years. They've swept the NCAA Field Athlete of the Year honors, won three NCAA titles, and currently own the best and fifth-best clearances in the world. The Bowerman Award, track and field's equivalent of the Heisman Trophy, released their top 10 semifinalists on Monday. Amanda, who set six NCAA records and won the indoor title, was on there. Hana, who set an NCAA record to win the outdoor title earlier this month, was on there too. They are the first set of sisters to be named semifinalists for the award in the same season. The other semifinalists for the award are NCAA 400m champion Aaliyah Butler (Georgia), 100m and 200m champion JaMeesia Ford (South Carolina), 5k and 10k champion Pamela Kosgei (New Mexico), high jump champion Elena Kulichenko (Georgia), steeplechase champion Doris Lemngole (Alabama), shot put champion Mya Lesnar (Colorado State), 400m hurdles champion Savannah Sutherland (Michigan), and 800m champion Roisin Willis (Stanford). A Washington Husky, man or woman, has never won the Bowerman Award, which began in 2009. Previous winners include 2024 Olympic gold medalists Grant Holloway and Julien Alfred. The winner of the award will be announced in December. The Moll twins will almost certainly be back in action at the US Track and Field Championships, which begin in Eugene, Oregon, on July 31.

WATCH: Lamar Jackson sits down with Kevin Hart for an interview on 'Cold as Balls'

Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson talked growing up in Florida, knowing he wanted to play in the NFL at 7 and other things during an episode of 'Cold as Balls' with Kevin Hart After months of waiting, Ravens star quarterback Lamar Jackson was a guest in the tub for a special episode of 'Cold as Balls' with the legendary Kevin Hart. The show, which features the comedian interviewing athletes while they sit in ice baths, returned for its 11th season in April. Jackson is among the big-name guests for season 11 of the series, which includes Amon-Ra St. Brown, Rhea Ripley, Kike Hernandez, Saquon Barkley, and more. Here are some key takeaways from the episode, which garnered over 5,000 views in the first few minutes. Lamar Jackson might be a robot The comedian asked Jackson if he was human or if he had a robot inside him, joking that he once cut Stephen Curry open to check. Jackson on Florida's dominance in football Jackson blamed his success and that of others on the Florida heat before giving Hart credit for inspiring the Ravens star to aspire to the NFL. Jackson's NFL goals The former Heisman Trophy star told Hart that he wanted to be an NFL star in the first grade, and that he had always played the quarterback position, putting to rest the idea that Jackson played another position. Jackson's viral moment Asked when college coaches started to call and recruit him as a dual-threat quarterback, Jackson referred to this viral moment. The sports talk show is directed and executive-produced by Michael D. Ratner and presented by Old Spice. The live production of Cold As Balls was created by OBB Media's newest division, OBB LiVE, in collaboration with the company's film & TV division, OBB Pictures, and Hartbeat, who have served together as the show's long-standing producers through the first 10 seasons.
