India-Turkey news Bad news for Turkey: In a significant development making Turkey nervous, Indian Air Force Chief Amar Preet Singh conducted a successful visit to Greece, an European country known as the arch-rival of Pakistan's friend Turkey. The special visit has sent shockwaves across the leadership of Turkey as Turkey and Greece have been engaged in a long-standing conflict. Reports say that India has agreed to give its Long Range Land Attack Cruise Missile (LR-LACM) with a range of more than 1000 kilometers to Greece. Here are all the details you need to know about the recent development between India and Greece. Why did Air Chief Marshal visit Greece? According to a release by the Hellenic Air Force, the Air Chief Marshal arrived in the country on June 23, upon the invitation of Lieutenant General (P) Dimosthenis Grigoriadis, Chief of the Hellenic Air Force General Staff. The visit, aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation in operations and training, marks a significant step in strengthening the strategic partnership between the two air forces. What did Indian Air Force say on Greece visit 'The Indian Air Force (IAF) Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, was presented with the ceremonial Guard of Honour on arrival during his official visit to Greece, on invitation of Lt Gen (P) Dimosthenis Grigoriadis, Chief of HAF General Staff. The visit aims to strengthen bilateral cooperation in Operations and Training. The CAS was briefed on HAF's operational framework, visited a Combat Wing, and participated in Staff talks. The two Air Forces continue to reinforce interoperability through joint participation in exercises like Iniochos and Tarang Shakti,' the Indian Air Force stated in a post on X. During his stay, Air Chief Marshal Singh, accompanied by Lieutenant General Grigoriadis, will be visiting the Hellenic Air Force Combat Wings and the Hellenic Air Force Academy at the Dekelia Air Base in Tatoi. The Hellenic Air Force, in its release, provided further details on the visit, noting the ongoing collaboration between the two air forces, which has been demonstrated through joint participation in military exercises such as 'Iniochos 23', 'Iniochos 25', and the multinational exercise 'Tarang Shakti 24'. Operation Sindoor: India begins to operations to punish Pakistan's ally..., Indian Air Force chief reaches

Operation Sindoor: India begins to operations to punish Pakistan's ally..., Indian Air Force chief reaches... Has India's 'operation' started against Turkey, which helped Pakistan during Operation Sindoor? These questions are being raised because Indian Air Force Chief Amar Preet Singh has arrived on a visit to Greece. Relations between Greece and Turkey have been very bad and for a long time there was a demand that India should increase military cooperation with Greece to counter Turkey. On reaching Greece, Indian Air Force Chief AP Singh was welcomed by Hellenic Air Force (HAF) Chief Lieutenant General Dimosthenis Grigoriadis. On the surface, this visit may seem to be a part of normal military cooperation, but it has much more political and strategic meaning. India and Greece have multilateral exercises India and Greece have multilateral exercises named 'Iniochos 23' and 'Iniochos 25'. Although there have already been military relations between the two countries with the 'Taranga Shakti' military exercise, the timing and meaning of this visit of Air Force Chief AP Singh must have worried Turkey. This is the same Turkey which remains a strategic partner of Pakistan and has recently become a major platform for anti-India voices. On reaching Greece, the Indian Air Force Chief was briefed about the organisation, mission and operational activities of the Hellenic Air Force (HAF). Apart from this, increasing bilateral cooperation between the two countries in areas like operations and training has been discussed. During his visit to Greece, the Indian Air Force Chief, along with the Chief of HAFGS, is scheduled to visit the Fighter Wing of the Hellenic Air Force as well as the Hellenic Air Force Academy at Dekelia Air Base in Tatoi. Greece is looking at the way the Indian Air Force carried out precise attacks on Pakistan's terrorist infrastructure during Operation Sindoor as a case study. According to Greece City Times, the Greek Air Force has sought strategic information and tactical data from India about this operation, especially the accuracy with which India used advanced platforms like Rafale and Sukhoi. This shows that India has changed its strategy and has made the policy of responding to Turkey in its own language a part of its planning.

US State Dept Oks Possible Sale of F-16 Training, Sustainment for Ukraine

Reuters File Photo A Hellenic Air Force F-16 flies during NATO's media day for Ramstein Flag 25 (RAFL25) at Leeuwarden Air Base, Netherlands, April 8 2025. WASHINGTON, May 2 (Reuters) – The U.S. State Department has approved the potential sale of F-16 training and sustainment, along with related equipment, to Ukraine for $310 million, the Pentagon said on Friday. Days before the deal, Ukraine and the U.S. signed a deal heavily promoted by U.S. President Donald Trump, to give the U.S. preferential access to new Ukrainian minerals deals and fund investment in Ukraine's reconstruction. Ukraine has previously received F-16 jets from U.S. allies under a jet transfer authorized by former President Joe Biden's administration. Trump has not been as eager to assist Kyiv with weapons support, instead relying on transfers authorized by Biden. Under Biden, more than $31 billion worth of weapons and equipment was pledged to Ukraine under the Presidential Drawdown Authority (PDA), which allows the president to approve rapid transfers to foreign countries from U.S. military stockpiles, without having to seek congressional approval. These weapons and others purchased with U.S. funds on behalf of Ukraine and shipped via the same channels continue to flow. This sale is separate from that, and represents an actual weapons deal whose principal contractors include Lockheed Martin Aeronautics LMT.N, BAE Systems BAES.L and AAR Corporation AIR.N, the Pentagon said in a statement. The sale could include aircraft modifications and upgrades, flight training, maintenance, and sustainment support; spare parts, repair, ground handling equipment, classified software, classified publications and support.

This Greek Air Combat Exercise Was A Low-Level Fighter Flying Paradise

After three weeks of air warfare training over the Greek mainland and sea, the Hellenic Air Force's (HAF) multinational Iniochos exercise wrapped up Sunday. This year's maneuvers involved a remarkably wide variety of air forces and types and provided a unique opportunity to see tactical aircraft put through their paces at low level through the spectacular mountainous scenery of western Greece. Aviation photographer and TWZ contributor Rich Cooper was in Greece and now shares with us some of the highlights of the exercise, which was hosted out of Andravida Air Base, which is home to the HAF Air Tactics Center. The 2025 iteration of Iniochos began on March 24 and concluded on April 13, with a wide range of missions being trained for. These comprised Offensive Counter Air Operations (OCA), Defensive Counter Air Operations (DCA), Strategic Air Operations, Air Power Contribution to Counter-Land Operations (APCLO), Air Power Contribution to Maritime Operations (APCMO), Reconnaissance Missions (RECCE), Combat Search and Rescue (CSAR), Time Sensitive Target (TST), and High Value Airborne Asset (HVAA). #INIOCHOS25 wraps up with unforgettable moments in the sky.@IAF_MCC @MOD_Qatar @SztabGenWP @ItalianAirForce @Armee_de_lair @modgovae @HQUSAFEAFAF @EjercitoAire @defence_mne@Slovenskavojska#Interoperability #MultinationalExercise #MissionSuccess #haf #πολεμικηαεροπορια — Hellenic Air Force (@HAFspokesperson) April 12, 2025 Reflecting the growing use of virtual training aids in air warfare training, Iniochos 2025 also made use, for the first time, of F-16 tactical simulators of the HAF's newly established Synthetic Training Squadron. As well as putting multiple Hellenic Armed Forces assets — including ground-based air defenses — through their paces, the exercise also saw strong foreign participation, underscoring how these drills have become increasingly popular for a range of NATO, allied, and partner air forces. External participants this year included French Μirage 2000D and Italian Tornado strike fighters, Emirari Μirage 2000-9, Indian Su-30MK, Polish F-16, Qatari F-15QA, and Spanish EF-18 multirole fighters, Israeli G550 signals intelligence (SIGINT) aircraft, Montenegrin Bell 412 utility helicopters, Slovenian PC-9 turboprop trainers, and U.S. Air Force F-16s as well as KC-46 and KC-135 aerial refueling tankers. Israeli participation in Iniochos is not new, but remains noteworthy, for several reasons. In the past, the Israeli Air Force has conducted exercises with the Hellenic Armed Forces to expose its assets to Greek-operated S-300 air defense systems, originally procured for the protection of Cyprus. These Russian-made surface-to-air missiles are notably operated by Iran and Syria. Meanwhile, Greek jets have also flown in Israel's corresponding Blue Flag maneuvers. Iniochos also provides a rare platform for the Israeli Air Force to take part in maneuvers alongside their counterparts from the Gulf states: in this instance, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. Although Qatar and the UAE, like most of the Arab world, long rejected diplomatic ties with Israel, these policies have softened in recent years, and the UAE, in particular, has cultivated increasingly military relations with the country. Nevertheless, in light of general security concerns, the Israeli Ministry of Defense typically provides very few details about the Israeli Air Force's participation in Iniochos, although this time it did provide some comments. The Israeli Air Force confirmed it sent a single SIGINT-configured G550, although in previous years it had sent several fighter jets and tankers, as well s surveillance aircraft. In a statement, the Israel Defense Forces said that its participation in the exercise was 'intended to strengthen strategic cooperation with foreign armies, improve the competence of the participating forces, and give the crews a professional challenge in flight conditions in an unknown environment and with varying threats.' The IDF finally comments on its participation in an annual aerial exercise hosted by Greece, which this year included the participation of other countries joined Greece in its Iniochos exercise this year: the United States, France, India, Israel, Italy, Montenegro,… — Emanuel (Mannie) Fabian (@manniefabian) April 11, 2025 While classed as a medium-scale exercise, in terms of participating aircraft, the year's Iniochos was the biggest since the maneuvers first took place in the late 1980s, back then as an all-Greek affair. The exercise had a notable focus on low-level flying, with most of the participants making good use of the Peloponnese mountain low-level flight training area. Low-level flying is a highly perishable skill and one that remains of critical importance for evading hostile air defense networks. Access to appropriate flight training areas is not always easy, so opportunities like this are very welcome for tactical fliers. Here is just a taste of what a few lucky spectators got to see flying down low the Greek valleys and over the Aegean Sea during the 2025 edition of an exercise that's clearly of growing significance.
