Govt launches website to curb drug abuse

Ranchi: State rural development and Panchayati Raj minister Dipika Pandey Singh launched a website containing ill-effects of drug use, government policies, legal provisions, de-addiction and rehabilitation as its statewide campaign to curb drug use ended on Thursday. During the event, held at Shaurya Hall in Doranda, officials said over 12,000 awareness programs were held across panchayats and districts during the fortnight long campaign. "Under chief minister Hemant Soren's directions, the deputy commissioners and the superintendents of police ensured that the awareness campaign reaches the villages. Many youths and women participated in the functions. We, however, must catch the kingpins of drug supplies. The addicted persons should be treated as patients and be de-addicted and rehabilitated," Pandey said. Chief secretary (CS) Alka Tiwari said that the network of drug peddlers is increasing rapidly, and a coordinated effort is needed to check it. "Earlier, we used to think of Punjab and north-eastern states while talking of drug abuse. Now, it is a problem for Jharkhand also. There is need for awareness drive in the offices as employees also can take to drugs under stress," she said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like La protección de Bitdefender detiene el fraude antes de que se produzca Bitdefender Undo Principal secretary home Vandana Dadel said the administration destroyed poppy plants, which is used for making opium on over 27,000 acres in 2024-25 season. BJP holds protest rally against state misrule, JMM calls it ‘theatrics'

1 2 Ranchi: BJP on Tuesday launched a massive stir titled 'Akrosh rally' across all 264 blocks in Jharkhand to corner Hemant Soren govt on various issues, including non-implementation of PESA rules, law and order among others. JMM-led alliance parties dubbed it as theatrics from the saffron camp to stay afloat in the state after it faced rejection by the public in last year's assembly polls. State BJP president Babulal Marandi, who led the protest in Giridih, said their protests would intensify. Middlemen are looting the state's mines and minerals, but the poor in the villages are not getting even sand to build their govt funded houses," he added. Workers raised slogans against the govt, raking up issues of law and order, lack of jobs, land and liquor scams, among others. They submitted memorandums to deputy commissioners. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Solicite sua Certidão. Envio para todo o Brasil. Whatever plagues the state now were due to BJP's misrule since formation of Jharkhand in 2000 and things are coming on track now," he said.

Illegal B'deshis damads: Giriraj; BJP spreading lies, says JMM

Jamshedpur: Union textile minister accused the state govt of giving special treatment to illegal migrants from Bangladesh. The immigrants are being treated as special guests and enjoying the privilege of damad (son-in-law), he claimed. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now "Instead of taking steps to check the illegal migration of Bangladeshis, the govt is welcoming them with open arms and treating them as damads," said Singh. The minister, who was on a visit to the city on Monday to attend a college function, said that Hemant Soren wants to make Jharkhand a model of present-day West Bengal. "He (Hemant) is following Mamata Banerjee and will turn Jharkhand into (a second) Bengal, while Mamata is on the way to make Bengal a second Bangladesh," said the BJP leader. Claiming that 13 districts in the state are witnessing an increasing change in the demography due to the growing population of illegal Bangladeshis, the minister said that former CM was compelled to quit JMM on discovering the stark reality about the demographic changes in the state. "Champai Soren joined BJP to prevent Jharkhand from becoming Bengal," Giriraj said. Jamai tolas are rapidly increasing in the state with the patronage of the tribal CM. The indigenous community population will not exist if unauthorised migration continues in the state, the minister further said. The MP from Begusarai in Bihar said that the NDA will form the govt in his home state under the leadership of Nitish Kumar in the upcoming assembly elections. Hitting back, JMM MLA Samir Mohanty said, "BJP leaders are experts in spreading canard. Bangladeshi illegal immigrants' infiltration into the state is an unfounded allegation. The minister should rather question Union home minister Amit Shah on how people from Bangladesh are infiltrating into India despite security on the international border being so tight."
