Interview with Hendrick Ou, one of the brains behind Jurassic World: The Exhibition in Singapore

Behind every successful exhibition like the recently opened Jurassic World: The Exhibition in Singapore, is a dedicated team of individuals who are driven by the passion to craft immersive experiences and bring them to life. Image courtesy of NEON. While most of us would have found it daunting to give life to a beloved franchise like Jurassic World, NEON's Senior Project Manager, Hendrick Ou, tapped on his expertise to focus on ensuring anyone who walked through the exhibition's doors be filled with awe, curiosity, and nostalgia. Speaking with NYLON Singapore, Hendrick said, 'This allowed me to continuously bring fresh insights and experiences to make events like this Jurassic exhibition even better.' Together with his team, they considered the franchise's appeal across generations and how guests of different ages interact with spaces. 'Kids love movement and surprises, while adults may appreciate richer layers of storytelling and immersive tech,' he added, 'The goal was to ensure everyone could enjoy the exhibition in their own way, whether it's marvelling at an animatronic or reading the science behind the species.' Image courtesy of NEON. Even though Jurassic World: The Exhibition is an international exhibition that has made its rounds globally, its arrival in Singapore was a unique one as Hendrick and his team were able to localise it for the Singapore audience. 'Unlike our travelling sets, which rely on artificial foliage and controlled lighting to recreate the Jurassic World, the Cloud Forest provided a truly immersive, and authentic environment, where the presence of natural sunlight shifting throughout the day added an organic layer to the experience,' shared Hendrick. As such, the exhibition did away with a fixed linear storyline that was the core of the global exhibitions and instead took a 'different and celebratory approach' that saw the strategic placement of iconic dinosaurs throughout the Cloud Forest; allowing for guests to encounter them and creating unexpected, magical moments that felt organic. While this may have sounded simple on paper, the integration between the dinosaurs and the Cloud Forest was not without its challenges. Image courtesy of NEON. Hendrick explained that beyond the physical and logistical aspects, there was the creative challenge on how to integrate the IP meaningfully into the Cloud Forest. 'It required extensive collaboration between creative, technical, and horticultural teams to plan installations that respected and complemented the natural environment. It was about finding that sweet spot where creativity could coexist with nature.' This also meant choosing the right mix of dinosaurs since each dinosaur comes with its own set of logistical needs — considerations on how big is it, how much it moves, where it can be positioned safely, how it interacts with the existing environment; like the slope of height clearance in the Cloud Forest. 'We started with a long list and gradually narrowed it down based on impact, recognisability, and how well they fit within the physical terrain of the Cloud Forest,' said Hendrick, 'There were certainly some that didn't make the cut but that's all part of the creative process.' Image courtesy of NEON. Despite the challenges that were physically and mentally demanding, bringing Jurassic World: The Exhibition to life was a fulfilling experience for Hendrick, who thought of the challenges as a reminder on why the work he does is 'so rewarding' as he was a part of a team who were building something memorable for thousands to enjoy. 'Seeing the first batch of visitors interact with the exhibits, hearing the kids gasp or shout out the names of the dinosaurs — all the long nights and challenges we braved just melted away,' he said. 'There's a real sense of purpose and rewarding moments in seeing how your work touches people, and it reminds me how my role at NEON isn't just about creating an exhibition… We are creating lasting memories.' Image courtesy of NEON. One of this lasting memories, it seems, is Hendrick's favourite T-Rex animatronic from the exhibition. 'It's a real showstopper,' he explained, 'No matter how many times I see it, there's always this moment of awe and pride when it comes to life. From the scale to the movement to the timing of the lighting and sound, it's so well-choreographed that it almost feels alive!' At the end of the day, Hendrick hopes that visitors will leave the exhibition feeling a sense of wonder; bringing joy, sparking curiosity and creating memories with family or friends. 'That's what this career in NEON is all about. From creating experiences that connect people to igniting passions and inspiring imaginations as it is not just about dinosaurs, it is about the shaping precious moments for the people who experience them.'

Hendrick Highlights Three Lyon Players as Key Targets

Hendrick on Robertson: 'He's No Longer Good Enough to Play for Liverpool' Rebuild Continues as Liverpool Set Transfer Priorities Liverpool's transfer activity has always been guided by strategy, not sentiment. In the latest Daily Red podcast from Anfield Index, David Hendrick laid out a detailed and unfiltered assessment of Liverpool's current and prospective moves, covering everything from Lyon's relegated talent pool to the viability of signing Alexander Isak and Marc Guehi. Advertisement With the start of the Arne Slot era, Liverpool's transfer focus is sharpening into form. Robertson's Role Diminishes One of the most striking statements from Hendrick was about long-time left-back Andy Robertson: 'Even if Andy Robertson leaves – which at this point he should – he's no longer good enough to play for Liverpool.' Hendrick dismissed sentimental arguments around squad experience, arguing that the club is not short of senior players: 'We didn't miss them, not one iota… and we have plenty of veterans whether Robbo stays or goes.' His point is clear: players should be retained for what they offer on the pitch, not for 'intangibles', which he described as 'the most overrated thing in football.' Photo IMAGO Isak in, Jota Out? A major thread of Hendrick's podcast centred on Liverpool's interest in Alexander Isak, with suggestions of a creative swap deal involving Diogo Jota. Advertisement 'There are suggestions that Diogo Jota could go to Newcastle in that deal for Isak and help bring down the cash amount.' Despite a rumoured fee of around £150 million, Hendrick explained how Profit and Sustainability Regulations (PSR) would not be a concern: 'If we signed Isak for £110 million, that's only a £22 million hit on our books for PSR.' He concluded that the deal is financially viable, saying: 'We have no concerns at all with PSR. Absolutely none.' Lyon's Relegation Creates Opportunity With Lyon relegated to Ligue 2, Hendrick urged Liverpool to capitalise on the situation. He highlighted three specific targets: Advertisement Malick Fofana: 'He can play right wing, he can play left wing… he gives you a backup to Mo and he could be your future starter on the left wing.' Mohamed Diawara: 'Big, powerful, rangy box-to-box midfielder… at 20 years of age, he represents an upside pick.' Georges Mikautadze: 'If we're selling both Darwin and Jota… Mikautadze makes a ton of sense.' Photo IMAGO The Lyon theme recurred repeatedly throughout the podcast as Hendrick explored the value and versatility the trio could bring to Liverpool's evolving system. Guehi's Role Would Be Rotational On potential defensive reinforcements, Marc Guehi was named as a logical but limited option: 'I do see the logic in Guehi. He's homegrown. He's a leader. He's proven… but he cannot be a starter for us. He's not that level.' Hendrick argued that Guehi could be effective as part of a rotation with Ibrahima Konaté and Virgil van Dijk, but not as a first-choice name on the teamsheet.

NASCAR Power Rankings: Denny Hamlin Back On Track, Back On Top

Denny Hamlin has three "podium" finishes in his last three starts. OK, so none of them actually had a real podium for a top-three finish. That only occurred at Mexico City, where Hamlin didn't race in the days following the birth of his son. But with a third-place finish, a win and a second in his past three starts, that's good enough to launch him at the top of this list. Here's how the latest rankings shake out as Cup Series drivers enter a three-week stretch of some wild-card-type tracks, with the first being Atlanta race this weekend — a high-banked 1.54-mile oval that now races like drafting tracks Daytona and Talladega. Dropped out: 9. Ross Chastain (Last Week: 9). On the verge: Alex Bowman, Chastain, Ty Gibbs, Joey Logano, John Hunter Nemechek, Tyler Reddick. Preece finished eighth at Pocono for his fourth top-10 finish in the last six races. The RFK Racing driver continues to find his way to race among the leaders. A brake rotor failure ruined Wallace's day Sunday at Pocono, and a starter issue stymied him in qualifying. But the 23XI driver had speed, as shown in the previous three races, where he had an average finish of 7.3. Briscoe's big victory at Pocono vaulted him into the playoffs and up a couple spots in these rankings. As a Joe Gibbs Racing driver, he should expect more wins and more weeks in these rankings. Buescher placed fourth at Pocono for his third consecutive top-10 finish. The RFK Racing driver had the speed as he qualified on the front row. A solid fifth-place finish for Elliott was his fifth top-five finish this year. The Hendrick driver knows running in the top five often enough will lead to him competing for a win relatively soon. Bell finished second a week earlier at Mexico City but never seemed to have the speed at Pocono. He qualified ninth and finished 17th, having been involved in a wreck in the second stage. Blaney rebounded from qualifying 20th to finishing third at Pocono. That's a good day for the Penske driver, making the most out of what could have been a bad day. Byron might have had the fastest car at Pocono on Saturday until he wrecked it during qualifying. He went for the stage points (he still has a 54-point lead on Kyle Larson as far as the battle for the regular-season title) and then got mired in traffic, losing spots to avoid a wreck and finished 27th. Larson finished a respectable seventh after starting 24th at Pocono. The Hendrick driver has seven top 10s in his last nine starts. Hamlin takes the top spot with three awesome finishes (third, first, second) in his last three starts. The JGR driver sits third in the standings despite having missed a race. RFK Racing seeks to build on Michigan finish in Mexico

MEXICO CITY — There was no celebrating last week at RFK Racing after it placed three cars in the top 10 for the first time in a Cup race since July 2016 at Daytona. 'It was certainly not anything to be embarrassed by,' Brad Keselowski said of the team's performance at Michigan. ' … We just want to do it more often. We want to win. 'We're, as a company, just fighting really hard to break through to the next level and we have these intermittent flashes and sparks. We want to turn it into a roaring fire.' That begins with Sunday's Cup race at Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, a 15-turn, 2.42-mile road course. Ryan Preece will start second — his first top-five starting spot on a road course. Chris Buescher, who has the best road course average finish in the Next Gen car at 8.7, starts 16th. Keselowski will start 30th. RFK Racing has placed at least two cars in the top 10 in three of the last four races, matching what Hendrick Motorsports has done, although Hendrick has a win and three more top-five finishes than RFK in that span. Dustin Long, Ten races will remain in the regular season after Sunday's race. Buescher is in a playoff spot, 20 points above the cutline, and Preece holds the final playoff spot entering Sunday's event. Keselowski needs a win to make the playoffs. 'This is a big stretch for us,' Keselowski said. 'We want to get all three of our cars in the playoffs. It appears that it's going to take wins for all three cars to do that, maybe we'll get one car in on points. We've had a couple of really strong races but haven't broke through to Victory Lane and I'm disappointed by that. 'I feel that we're bringing efforts that are close to being able to do that, but we haven't gotten there. You can't do anything about the races behind us, but the races in front of us you're just trying to be laser-focused to achieve results.' With four road course races among the final 11 events of the regular season, Keselowski sees opportunity for his teams. 'All three of our cars at COTA were a factor at one point,' he said. 'Didn't necessarily get the win but showed some strength.' Preece has been strong lately, scoring three top 10s in the last four races. 'Confidence is a lot higher,' Preece said. 'I've been really trying to focus on this racetrack because I feel like from a team aspect there was a lot of unknowns for everybody. … The playing field is pretty level. I just put a lot of effort into it.'
