Henrik Lundqvist Makes Clear Pick for Oilers' Starting Goalie in Game 6
Henrik Lundqvist Makes Clear Pick for Oilers' Starting Goalie in Game 6 originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Edmonton Oilers are once again facing elimination, down 3-2 to the Florida Panthers in the Stanley Cup Final after a 5-2 home loss in Game 5. Advertisement Hockey Hall of Fame goalie Henrik Lundqvist believes it's time to make another change in goal after Edmonton decided to change their starter for Game 5 and saw that decision backfire. Calvin Pickard got the nod for his first start since the second round and struggled, allowing four goals on 18 shots and earning his first loss in seven starts this postseason. The Panthers capitalized on their chances, while Sergei Bobrovsky outplayed his counterpart in net, stopping 19 of 21 shots. During the "NHL on TNT" postgame show, Lundqvist didn't mince words. "I'm going back to Skinner," said the former New York Rangers netminder. "Yep, it's the No. 1 guy. Pickard did an amazing job in Game 4, came in and stole it for them, (but) tonight I didn't think it was that good. Advertisement "Not really bad goals, but I would have wanted one or two saves on the fourth, really. In the end, Stu has been the starter throughout the year. I think he earned this opportunity to try to make a difference for them in Game 6." Edmonton Oilers goaltender Stuart Skinner celebrates with fellow netminder Calvin Pickard after defeating the Florida Panthers at Rogers Tychnowicz-Imagn Images Head coach Kris Knoblauch was more measured postgame while addressing Pickard's performance in Game 5. 'From what I saw, I think Picks didn't have much chance on those goals — breakaways, shots through screens, slot shots,' Knoblauch said. 'There's nothing saying that it was a poor performance.' Edmonton now flies to Florida for Game 6 on Tuesday, needing to win to force a Game 7 back at Rogers Place. Former Flyers Goalie Sergei Bobrovsky Makes NHL Playoffs History

(Photo: Walter Tychnowitz, Imagn Images) Much to the perpetuated disappointment of Philadelphia Flyers fans, former Flyers goalie Sergei Bobrovsky continues to steal the show in the NHL playoffs, setting a new postseason record while playing with the Florida Panthers. Advertisement Bobrovsky, 36, made 42 saves against the Edmonton Oilers in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals on Friday night, powering his Panthers to a crucial 5-4 overtime victory to tie the series at 1-1. In Wednesday's 4-3 overtime loss in Game 1, Bobrovsky also made 42 saves, meaning he has invented and holds an NHL record that will make Flyers fans' skin crawl. The Russian netminder is now the only goalie in NHL history to start a Stanley Cup Finals series with back-to-back 40-save efforts. If it makes you feel any better, Bobrovsky, a two-time Vezina Trophy winner, passed Boston Bruins legend Tuukka Rask for 18th all-time in wins in the NHL playoffs after posting his 58th career postseason win with the Game 2 victory Friday night. Advertisement The former Flyers goalie is now three playoff wins away from catching Henrik Lundqvist, seven away from Dominik Hasek, and nine away from fellow countryman Andrei Vasilevskiy. We can only hope that the Flyers made good use of the second-round pick and two fourth-round picks they received from Columbus for 'Bob' back in 2012. Bobrovsky is now 13-6 this postseason with a 2.21 GAA, a .912 save percentage, and three shutouts.

Henrik Lundqvist Opens Up About Representing Sweden Upon Receiving High Honor
Henrik Lundqvist added another impressive accolade to his resume. On Sunday, Lundqvist was inducted into the International Ice Hockey Federation Hall of Fame for his time playing for the Swedish National Team. Since he was a tennager, Lundqvist has been representing Sweden on an international stage and he's widely considered to be one of the greatest Swedish goalies in NHL history. To get this high honor means a lot to the 43-year-old who cherished every time he got to put on the yellow and blue jersey. 'One day I want to play there, wear that blue and yellow jersey,' Lundqvist said. 'And the thought of playing for my country was such a big dream, the inspiration growing up that really pushed me in so many ways.' Lundqvist has won one gold and two silver medals in the IIHF World Championships, the Honken Trophy (the Swedish equivalent to the Vezina Trophy) three consecutive times from 2003-05, and a Guldpucken (Swedish MVP Trophy) during the 2004-05 campaign. By the end of his illustrious career, Lundqvist had recorded 459 wins, the sixth most wins out of all goalies in NHL history and first among European goalies. 'Playing on the international stage was always important to me,' Lundqvist said. 'It's hard to describe the feeling of what it's like to put this on. It's pride, excitement, and that feeling never changed for the next 20 years. 'Some of my best moments as an athlete, as a person I would say, have been wearing this jersey — winning world championships, the Olympics, such big moments.'

They appear to have well-established guidelines on how to deal with difficult plays. This excellent coordination keeps Frederik Andersen prepared and confident. His performance has been almost flawless so far, particularly in the second round against the Capitals. He has a 1.41 goals-against average and a.935 save percentage, the best of all playoff goalies. Frederik Andersen prefers each second and loves every match Frederik Andersen isn't playing well; he's grateful to even play. Previous seasons saw him miss quite several games because of blood clots and knee surgery. Today, he treats every game as a blessing. He mentioned that the team in front of him has been playing tough and blocking shots, which simplifies his task. But playing goalie for Carolina has its tough moments too. Occasionally he won't see many shots, so he must remain sharp even when the puck is distant. He stated it took time to know how to remain prepared in situations such as that. His mental toughness keeps him alert, even when he is idle for extensive periods. Coach Rod Brind'Amour added Frederik Andersen has performed well to remain prepared and relaxed. When the opposing team gets a major scoring opportunity, Frederik Andersen usually makes the big stop. That allows the team to be confident in continuing their style of play.
