WWE 2K25 icon claims new update is 'moment of completion in video game industry'
To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video It's a big day for WWE 2K25, as the game gets a major new update and comes to a new format. As well as the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 version of the record-breaking game, the Fearless DLC pack for WWE 2K25 is available today, featuring New Jack, Penta, and Jordynne Grace amongst the new characters being added to the game. New Jack is a fascinating one for fans, having built a fierce legacy in ECW as one of the boldest, most violent and most controversial figures in wrestling. ECW maestro and WWE Hall of Famer Paul Heyman exclusively told Metro why today's DLC is such an important release for the series. 'This is a moment of completion in the entire video game industry,' he said. 'You cannot deny New Jack's influence in sports entertainment/pro wrestling culture, nor should you deny his influence on video games.' Sign up to the GameCentral newsletter for a unique take on the week in gaming, alongside the latest reviews and more. Delivered to your inbox every Saturday morning. Heyman pointed out how a lot of people working in the business today grew up as fans of ECW and WWE during their childhood. 'Most of the people that are writing the codes that then become the video games were ECW or WWE fans,' he added. 'And I mean, are you telling me that those who make Grand Theft Auto weren't influenced by New Jack? Come on!' New Jack is part of this week's Fearless DLC, with he, Penta and Jordynne Grace joined by Hall of Famer Bull Nakano, and YouTuber KSI in a Prime bottle costume. The Hardcore Icon gets special treatment too, when it comes to players using him in one-on-one, no disqualification-type matches such as Extreme Rules and Falls Count Anywhere. For those mode, New Jack will come out carrying a guitar and trash can full of weapons (including a crutch) which he'll spill in the ring ready to use when the bell rings. As if that wasn't enough, his entrance music will keep playing throughout the bout, which fans will remember well from his heyday. Heyman, 58, noted how including him in the roster for WWE 2K25 – which is the highest rated franchise title in Xbox history, with the same game now available on the Switch 2 – is a befitting way to honour his legacy. He said: 'Oh my God! What a fantastic idea to pay tribute to someone that has been such an influence on not only the culture of pro wrestling, but on the culture of video games, because of the influence that we've had on those who write the games.' In this year's WWE 2K25, Heyman takes centre stage in the Showcase mode, which Switch 2 gamers will be able to play as they explore the history of Roman Reigns and The Bloodline. More Trending 'I approached it with the respect for the history of the entire industry and for that family that anyone that understands or has studied the history should have. I approached it with great reverence,' he said of his role as a narrator in the mode. 'There are so many gamers now that are going to learn about an actual education within a video game. Imagine that! So if you want to go to a wrestling college, or you want to go to WWE University, your professor's name is Paul Heyman.' WWE 2K25 is available now for the Nintendo Switch 2. New Jack is available as part of the Fearless DLC pack. WWE SummerSlam airs on Netflix on August 2 and 3. Got a story? Roman Reigns Confronts Paul Heyman on Raw to Sow Seeds for a Huge Clash at SummerSlam
Images via WWE YouTube (Roman Reigns, Jey Uso, Paul Heyman, Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker The July 21st episode of Monday Night Raw delivered fireworks from Houston, Texas, as Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman found themselves face-to-face in a tension-filled segment that had fans on edge. With Seth Rollins out of action due to a knee injury, Heyman appeared to be laying the groundwork for a shocking reunion, hoping to lure the former Tribal Chief back into his corner. But just when it seemed like old alliances might be rekindled, chaos erupted. One thing became clear: SummerSlam is about to get personal, and the road there just took a wild turn. What Did Roman Reigns Say to Paul Heyman's Reunion Offer? Roman Reigns made one thing crystal clear on Raw. The former Undisputed title holder hasn't forgiven Paul Heyman for betraying him at WrestleMania 41. During the final moments of Monday night's show, Heyman approached Reigns with a bold offer: take charge of his new faction, which includes Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed, while Seth Rollins recovers from a knee injury. Heyman added that he still loved his Tribal Chief, and believed that the duo could fix things once again. Reigns listened for a while and then took the mic to say, 'You're not a wiseman anymore, you're just a dumba*s.' Instead of accepting, Reigns reminded Heyman that he was the one who tore The Bloodline apart. He then told Breakker that Heyman was going to do the same to him as well and betray him at his weakest. Reigns gave credit to The Usos, Sami Zayn, and even Solo Sikoa for helping him to keep the title for 1316 days. However, he lambasted Heyman and said that he didn't have anything to do with keeping the gold. Jey Uso Backed Up Roman Reigns to Point Towards a Tag Team Match at SummerSlam After Reigns was done, Breakker took a direct shot at the former Undisputed title holder, calling him 'worthless' and claiming he's the real prize, someone Heyman would never turn on. Reigns, completely unfazed, acted like he didn't hear a word. Then, in classic fashion, he offered Breakker the mic, only to follow it up with a brutal Superman Punch. Reigns tried to go after Reed next, but the numbers quickly caught up to him. Just when things looked bleak, Jey Uso's music hit and the crowd erupted. Uso stormed the ring, took out both Reed and Breakker, and teamed up with Reigns to hit a devastating double spear to close the show. In a hilarious moment, Reigns and Uso did a 'YEET' dance after the show went off the air, which was uploaded by WWE on their social media with the caption, 'The Tribal Yeet'. Reigns even commented under the video, 'Definitely AI.' But it is safe to say that 'The OTC1' was feeling a little Ucey tonight. All signs now point to a tag team clash at SummerSlam: Roman Reigns and Jey Uso vs. Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed. It's a smart booking move, giving Reigns a strong spot on the card without putting too much wear and tear on him. And with Seth Rollins out due to injury, WWE is keeping his faction in play, buying time until he makes his return. CM Punk sends a message to Roman Reigns after his emphatic RAW return
via Netflix and WWE: CM Punk and Roman Reigns This Monday, the ones were up in the skies when Roman Reigns made his return to Monday Night RAW. Coming to the aid of his cousin, Jey Uso , and also CM Punk, he ran down the ramp only to take down Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed. Later, he helped the YEET-man to stand after suffering the attack from Bron and Bronson. However, Reigns hesitated in giving a helping hand to CM Punk. The Chicago-made star then took to Instagram with a humorous post reacting to Reigns' dramatic glare and confusing moment. CM Punk's Instagram post states his confusing relation with Roman Reigns The OTC looked happy being able to help out Uso , but had a second thought after saving Punk. After visibly looking puzzled, Punk had his hand in a way, asking, "What happened?" before he stood up himself. In his Instagram post that he posted today, Punk leaned into the same confusion with a lighthearted jab, using memes. He used three images to describe the situation, with the first being his own picture of that very moment. WWE shared a video of the moment on Instagram, implying that Heyman had "messed up" during the episode. This jab referenced Heyman's betrayal of Reigns at WrestleMania 41, where he delivered a low blow, paving the way for Seth Rollins to defeat Reigns and claim victory. In response, the Hall of Famer fired back on Instagram, flipping the narrative. Heyman argued that it was Reigns who made the mistake by attacking Breakker and Reed. Heyman wrote in the statement 'he screwed up,' means Reigns screwed up by coming for Bronn Breakker and Bronson Reed . "Lesson to be taught, I assure you. And that's not a prediction. That's a spoiler!" Heyman wrote. The storyline will now mostly proceed in Reigns' singles match with Breakker. Or a tag team match featuring Reigns and Uso vs. Breakker and Reed. Seattle Mariners select C Luke Heyman in Round 14 of 2025 MLB draft
The Seattle Mariners selected Florida catcher Luke Heyman in the 14th round of the MLB draft with the 422nd overall pick. A three-year starter for Florida, Heyman leaves Florida with a .282/.365/.530 slash line. A true home run or bust player at the plate, Heyman's 41 career home runs are the 10th most in program history, and his 165 career strikeouts are the sixth-most for a Gator. Heyman is all over the Florida all-time defensive record books as well. His 996 fielding percentage is tied with Mike Rivera for the best among Florida catchers and second overall. His 1,165 putouts are the sixth most in Gators history. Florida is losing a staple of the program and one of the better power bats not named Jac Caglianone or Wyatt Langford to come through Gainesville. His career ended on the bench after being hit with a pitch in the arm during the Alabama series. The Gators could have used him in the postseason and they'll certainly miss him next year. Luke Heyman before Florida Gators Heyman was the No. 50 overall recruit on Perfect Game's Class of 2022 rankings and the sixth-best catcher available. Normally, a kid like that gets drafted. Heyman bet on himself to dominate the SEC, and he did so for much of his career. However, it didn't turn into the Day 1 draft money every high school prospect hopes to see. Listed as a two-way prospect because of his 93-mph fastball, Heyman was never going to pitch in college. His big arm played just as well behind the plate, and he showed promise with framing. Most importantly, Heyman carried himself with the kind of poise most elite catchers possess. There's something different about the guys who play that position, and Heyman had whatever that special quality is; call it grit. Of course, the power right-handed bat also had scouts drooling, and Kevin O'Sullivan was fortunate enough to get him to campus. Heyman is one of three class of 2022 signees to see their college careers through at Florida. Xavier Isaac went to Tampa in the first round of the draft, and Chris Arroyo recently got drafted in the fifth round by the Miami Marlins after transferring to Virginia by way of junior college. Luke Heyman with the Florida Gators Heyman served as Florida's secondary catcher behind BT Riopelle in 2023, but he still started 51 of 55 games as a true freshman. He earned an All-SEC Freshman Team nod with a .314/.366/.555 season. Heyman hit 12 homers in 191 at-bats, keeping a torrid pace through SEC play. Strikeouts were somewhat of an issue, but Heyman's strikeout rate stayed under 25% for each of his first two seasons. The sophomore slump hit Heyman hard. All of his numbers dropped to the tune of a .246/.342/.481 campaign. Perhaps it was the pressure of being a draft-eligible sophomore that got to Heyman, but he didn't perform up to standard. The power was still there, but he clearly wasn't seeing the ball as well his freshman year. Heyman bounced back with an All-SEC First Team junior year. His slash line climbed to .301/.397/.578, and Heyman was hitting homers at a career pace. The injury robbed him of being a few spots higher up in the record books, but he'll still be remembered as one of the most consistent power bats of this generation of Florida baseball. Oh, Heyman dropped his K rate to 18.6% and raised his walk rate to 10.8% in his final year with the program, too. Florida Gators drafted in 2025 Heyman is the fifth Gator off the board in the 2025 MLB draft. The Chicago White Sox took shortstop Colby Shelton in the sixth round, the Miami Marlins took right-handed pitcher Jake Clemente in the seventh round and the Chicago Cubs drafted left-handed pitcher Pierce Coppola later on in the seventh round. Third baseman Bobby Boser went to the Athletics in the 11th round. Florida has seen four or more players drafted in 16 of the last 17 years, and five-plus picks in each of the last three. Heyman is the 115th draftee under Kevin O'Sullivan — 230th in program history.
