Qassem warns attack on Iran to have 'hefty prices'
by Naharnet Newsdesk 6 hours Hezbollah chief Sheikh Naim Qassem warned in an interview published Monday that 'the attack on Iran will have hefty prices because the entire region is in danger.' In an interview with the Hezbollah-affiliated al-Ahed news portal, Qassem also slammed U.S. President Donald Trump's threats against Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. 'Trump's threat to assassinate Imam Khamenei is a vile action and at the same an evidence of weakness,' Qassem added. 'Trump is ignorant of the reverence of this great leader among Muslims and in the world and ignorant of the dangerous repercussions of such threats,' the Hezbollah leader went on to say. He also stressed that 'Iran will emerge victorious, because it is righteous and the one being aggressed against,' adding that 'Iran has the leadership of the brave supreme leader who is insisting that Iran be dignified and strong.' 'Iran has unified people who have left behind their disputes to be unified in the face of the American-Israeli aggression,' Qassem added. As for Israel's continued occupation and attacks in Lebanon, Qassem said Hezbollah supports the Lebanese state's 'diplomatic choice' but would take the 'appropriate decision' if diplomacy fails to achieve Lebanon's objectives. Hezbollah is 'ready to adopt any choice taken by the state to halt the aggression and secure Israel's withdrawal,' he said. Noting that the reconstruction of areas destroyed in the latest war with Israel is the 'top priority' for Hezbollah and for 'the course of the state and its recovery,' Qassem said his group still retains military 'capabilities.' 'The resistance shall stay and continue and it is repairing itself. It has expressed the strength of its continuity through its people, who rushed to their villages in the South and offered martyrs to remain in their land, and also through the million-man funeral for its two (slain) secretaries-general (Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and Sayyed Hashem Safieddine) … as well as through its effective contributions to the process of building the state and its institutions,' Qassem went on to say.

According to reports by sources to Iranian-affiliated media, the documents were allegedly transferred from within Israel to Iranian territory. Iran has obtained Israeli intelligence materials, including sensitive documents related to Israel's nuclear capabilities, Iranian-affiliated media reported on Saturday. The intelligence materials allegedly include thousands of documents related to that regime's nuclear plans and facilities. The documents were transferred from within Israel to Iranian territory, Lebanese Hezbollah-affiliated Al-Mayadeen remarked. Even though the mentioned operation was carried out some time ago, "the abundance of documents is such that reviewing them and viewing images and videos has taken up a significant amount of time," sources told Iran's Tasnim News Agency. Roi Mizrahi and Almog Attias, both 25, were allegedly in contact with an Iranian intelligence operative who instructed them to install spy cameras, according to an Israeli indictment filed in May. While there is no confirmed link to the recent Israeli intelligence leak, sources suggested that these suspects may be linked to the alleged intel leak. The State Prosecution filed an indictment at the Beersheba District Court against Roi Mizrahi and Almog Attias for carrying out a series of intelligence missions on behalf of agents operating for Iranian intelligence agencies, the Attorney-General's Office announced Friday. Both Mizrahi and Attias are from Nesher, southwest of Haifa. The Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) announced the arrest of the two in May. Mizrahi has been charged with contacting a foreign agent, assisting an enemy in wartime, and carrying and transporting weapons. Attias was charged with contact with a foreign agent and providing information to the enemy, intending to harm the state's security.

Report: Hezbollah member arrested in South for spying for Israel

Ayoub is 'the financial director of the (Hezbollah-affiliated) Ragheb Harb Hospital' in the Nabatieh district, the sources said. 'Mahmoud Ayoub was arrested by the Internal Security Forces' Information Branch in coordination with Hezbollah,' the sources added.

A ceasefire agreement has been in place since November 27, brokered by the United States and France, following a conflict that lasted for more than a year and escalated into open confrontation as of September 2024. The agreement stipulated the withdrawal of Hezbollah fighters from the area south of the Litani River (approximately 30 kilometers from the border) and the dismantling of its military infrastructure there, in exchange for the Lebanese army and UNIFIL forces increasing their presence near the border with Israel. Recently, Lebanese authorities have reiterated their decision to 'restrict arms to the state,' amid growing American pressure to disarm Hezbollah, which has suffered heavy losses to its military and leadership structures during the war with the Israeli occupation.
