Aldabaiba opens First Phase of Tripoli's Third Ring Road
Tripoli based Libyan Prime Minister, Abdel Hamid Aldabaiba, inaugurated the First Phase of the Third Ring Road Project Tripoli last Monday (7 July), in the presence of (one of) the Presidents of the High Council of State, Mohamed Tekala, a number of ministers, ambassadors, senior officials, representatives of the executing companies and the consulting office. Largest infrastructure achievement in Libya in more than 30 years The Tripoli government says the project is the largest infrastructure achievement in Libya in more than 30 years, and represents a strategic step to improve traffic, reduce pressure within the capital, and connect its neighbourhoods and main entry ways, as part of a government plan aimed at comprehensive modernisation of the service infrastructure. In his speech during the opening, the Prime Minister welcomed the attendees and thanked all those who contributed to the implementation of the project, led by the Housing and Infrastructure Board (HIB), the consortium of Egyptian executing companies, the consulting office, as well as teams of engineers, workers, local companies, and national elements. Aldabaiba also appreciated the patience and understanding of citizens during the period of opening lanes and traffic diversion works, considering this popular cooperation an important motivation for the success of the project. First Phase: From Ghout Al-Shaal Roundabout to Airport Road The Prime Minister explained that the first phase of the project extends from Ghout Al-Shaal Island to Airport Road, with a length of 6 km, and includes 3 lanes in each direction, 12 km of service roads, 4 car bridges, 3 pedestrian bridges, in addition to an integrated lighting network, and a modern rainwater drainage system. Broader vision that includes modernizing infrastructure Aldabaiba stressed that the project will contribute to reducing congestion, raising the level of safety, shortening travel times, and improving the quality of life within the capital, adding that this project does not come in isolation from a broader vision that includes modernizing infrastructure in Tripoli and all Libyan cities. Implementing stalled projects using domestic and regional companies He pointed out that the government is continuing to implement major projects, despite financial and administrative challenges, and that it relies on national will and local capabilities, in addition to regional cooperation to implement projects that have been stalled for years. At the end of his speech, the Prime Minister stressed that the fulfilment of promises despite difficulties is proof that hard work is possible when there is intention. Aldabaiba also called on citizens to preserve the road as a collective responsibility, pointing out that this achievement is not the end of the road, but the beginning of a new phase of real construction to serve Tripoli and all of Libya.

Libyan Parliament & State Council Discuss New Unified Government
The Speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives, Aqeela Saleh, held talks on Monday with the Head of the Libyan High Council of State (HCS), Khaled Al-Mishri, to discuss Libya's ongoing political developments. According to a statement from the Media Office of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the meeting focused on the current political situation and the need for coordinated efforts to end the political deadlock. Both sides explored practical steps to agree on a clear roadmap for the formation of a new unified government, aimed at paving the way for holding simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections. The talks between Aqeela Saleh and Khaled Al-Mishri are seen as a key step towards bridging political divisions and fostering national consensus ahead of the long-delayed elections. Libya has been facing years of political fragmentation, with rival administrations competing for power in different parts of the country. Egypt's Al-Sisi, Greek PM urge political solution to halt Iran-Israel crisis
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis discussed the need to halt the current regional escalation during a phone call on Monday, stressing that a political solution is the only way to end the crisis between Iran and Israel. According to a statement from the Egyptian presidency, the Greek prime minister was keen to hear President Al-Sisi's perspective on regional developments. Both leaders expressed grave concern that continued military operations could push the region into a new wave of instability, threatening regional and international peace and security. They also emphasised that the escalation between Iran and Israel should not overshadow the 'ongoing tragedy in the Gaza Strip.' The two leaders stressed the importance of stopping the 'ongoing aggression' there and ending the suffering of civilians, particularly with the existing restrictions on humanitarian aid access. The official spokesperson, Mohamed El-Shennawy, said the call also covered other regional issues, including maritime border demarcation in the Eastern Mediterranean and illegal migration. On Libya, both sides affirmed the importance of forming a new, unified government tasked with holding simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections. They also reiterated their support for efforts by Libya's House of Representatives and High Council of State to approve a viable and consensus-based roadmap. The leaders also confirmed their commitment to building on the current momentum in bilateral relations and exploring wider cooperation, especially in the economic and energy sectors. In this context, President Al-Sisi affirmed Egypt's commitment to protecting all religious holy sites on its land, specifically mentioning its appreciation for the religious and spiritual status of St. Catherine's Monastery. He noted that a recent Egyptian court ruling reflected this position, stressed that the monastery would not be harmed, and highlighted the importance of correcting false information on the matter being promoted in Europe.
