Netball: Highbrow maintain perfect record with comeback win

Highbrow (bluebibs) have now won all 12 of their league games this season (Image: Kevin Frampton) PREMIER Division leaders Highbrow Skin & Laser Clinic stormed to their 13th win of the season in the South & West Dorset Netball League. The Highbrow Skin & Laser Clinic beat McCarthy Stone 45-24 as the continue their dominance of the division Advertisement It was a tightly contested first quarter as both teams [layed well with end to end action seeing both teams score. Highbrow's C Laura Austin made some sharp passes to her teammates, whilst McCarthy's GA Carragh Watt and GS Camillia Assirati made some great shots to help their team take an early lead. McCarthy's mid court play stepped up to control the flow of the game and they created some excellent opportunities for their shooters to score. Highbrow's GD Jayne Guppy and GK Jane Dunford made some quick interceptions and with smart positioning were able to turnover the ball which slowed McCarthy's momentum, although the scores were close but it was Highbrow who led at the end of the second quarter. Highbrow launched a powerful come back with their shooters finding a great rhythm, mid court players were able to convert the ball and with precision to feed to the shooters and this kept McCarthy's defence busy. Advertisement Highbrow extended their lead in the final quarter as their defence disrupted McCarthy's flow and romped to victory to make it 12 from 12. Elsewhere in the Premier Division Wagamama's kept their good form going with a crushing 70-31 win over Coastal Cheese. Wagamamas started well with their C Marcie Przybysz making some lovely feeds into GA Sammy Whisker who didn't miss. Coastal's WA Millie Simmons made some lovely overhead feeds into GS Sam Shewbridge and GA Laura Cox, but it was Wagamamas who held the lead. Wagamamas continued their strong play through the court with GA Sammy Whisker working hard to feed the ball to GS Laura Gardner who made some brilliant shots. Advertisement Coastal fought back with some long shots from GS Sam Shewbridge but Wagamamas held the lead Coastal's GA Laura Cox continued her strong accurate shooting to close the gap, although Wagamamas GD Becky Cousens made some incredible high jumps to intercept the ball to maintain their lead. Coastal kept fighting with excellent feeds into the shooters by their WA Millie Simmonds but Wagamamas proved too much in the end. Third placed Buglers pipped NewBody Fitness 35-30 whilst The Veterans Hub defeated Taddle Farm Tents in the other games on Thursday night. It was much of the same in Division One for Gungho Wildcats beating The Waterloo 69-26 to stay top whilst Kooky Bloom recorded back-to-back wins with a 31-29 win over Team Waikiki. Advertisement Warmer Home Improvements Lightning beat Joe Newton Electrical 55-46 and First Fit Windows conceded to Artifex Krakens in the other games. On to Division Two and Vibes Dorchester claimed their first win of the season with a 49-38 win over WJNC Waves. Leaders WJNC Warriors beat Dream Digital 70-27, Dorchester Netball club moved up to second with a 67-19 victory over The Marlboro and Zest beat Artifex Calypso in the final game.
